  1. The shirts this year are SWEET! Look close- he's digging hard on the rears!
  2. More from the field. Attendance is around 40 right now with many more on the way.
  3. Lee wants to show off his new digs.
  4. Unfortunately, someone on this board went and got him fired. He's also not the first.
  5. My first three cars were Chrysler LeBaron. All three were purchased used and served me well until the started developing problems at about 100-120k miles. My current car is a 2000 Nissan Altima, purchased with 32K and now has 95k and does not leave a single drip on my driveway. It burns only a small amount of oil and hasn't given me a single problem. The VIN number starts with a 1, indicating it was assembled in the USA. Why did I buy a foreign brand this time around? Walk around a used car lot and look at the differences. The foreign brands have better build quality and tighter gap tolerance. Check out Consumer Reports or Edmunds and the foreign brands beat out domestics all the time. I am an Engineer by education and experience and I refuse to continue to support half-assed engineering and poor workmanship any longer. My customers get the best I can give them and I take the liberty of upgrading equipment and installations whenever I feel the extra cost will provide a better long-term solution even when it sacrifices the margin. That's called respect and it will get you very far.
  6. The Otter is here! The Otter is here! Do the clouds go away dance and offer a sacrifice to the beer gods!
  7. As an alternative you can hop over 20 East to 441 South and go through Miledgeville. Takes me about 2 to 2.5 hours from Snellville. No guarantee on time savings- 441 is 4 lane divided up by Miledgeville but the last 20 miles into Dublin are two lane. Pick up 80 West in town and the airport is just past the Pizza Hut.
  8. Well, the tents are up. RV hookups should be powered by the weekend (there's only eight, so first come first serve) and RoamingDZ Radio is online. Chris, Alan, Scotty, Tammy, Lee, Mike and son Charlie, Don, Lisa and many others here in Dublin have been busting hump to setup the circus, and the help has been much apprecaited. Scotty is so proud of his new grill- he's ready to cook some serious dead cow!
  9. My rigger does test jumping for Flight Concepts and uses these on occassion, particularly with experimental high-aspect ratio canopies. It is a normal harness/container system with an extra set of rings sewn into the harness a few inches below the shoulders.
  10. I spent last October in Guyana with RAM and never had more fun in my life. It was tough and spartan and I still haven't decided if it was the shortest or longest 25 days of my life, but I loved it. This is a great group of people that need your support. If you work for a pharmaceutical company, drugs and supplies are always needed. Work for Energizer? Flashlight batteries down there are cheap Chinese POS. That old pair of glasses could find new life down on the savanah or in the mountains of Appalachia. Small things do add up and they do make a difference. I will say that after spending a few day shaking bug crap out of boxes of bandages I will never complain about a co-pay to see a doctor.
  11. I don't know what my rigger charges anymore because I pay him for his experience, knowledge, and quality. Two saves and he's worth every penny.
  12. Easy- quit following the rules. No one else does.
  13. I've never understood the problem with late fees. I rent a movie on Friday night and I have it for about 36 hours or 5+ days (depending) before it needs to get back. If I'm too lazy or scatterbrained to get off my duff and get it back to the drop box (and yes, that has happened once or twice) I owe them a few extra bucks. I don't feel screwed, fleeced, or soaked and I may not like paying the fee but I owe it. They started pro-rating the fees by day or 'additional rental period' instead of a disproportionate fee per day so I have even less of a probelm with it. Get off your couch, drive the mile or two out of your way and return it on time. No fee, no problem. (Course I use Netflix now anyways, so what do I care?)
  14. If you are traveling in the United States, be aware that check in baggage has to be unlocked when you check in. If you decide to check your rig ask that you be allowed to lock the case after it is screened. There have been several cases where rigs were check in unlocked bags and been tampered with and made unsafe (bolt cutters, probes shoved into the reserve containers, etc.).
  15. It looks like the stabilizer wasn't flaked during packing. Part of the right stabilizer looks tucked through one of the line groups.
  16. Wow! I'm a winner! Anyone out there motivated enough to do a 419 eater on them?
  17. Trent Lott International has some big plans for the next year. They want to beef up the runway to 100,000 pounds and add a control tower. Probably have plans for more corporate hangars and facilities. As a result, (speculative) the dropzone no longer fits into the big picture and they want it out of the way. Too bad, especially if there are no local alternatives if they need to move the DZ. They might get another season or two, but the first time they bust a cloud or have someone dancing on the tarmac with a beer that could be the end. http://www.gulflive.com/news/mississippipress/index.ssf?/base/news/1093342555244370.xml http://www.wlox.com/Global/story.asp?S=2053370
  18. PM me the details about your application. I should be able to put something together.
  19. Copywrite violations are only a small part of the issue. Doing business under the guise of being another legitimate entity is fraud. Putting a stamp on them and mailing them through the Postal Service is mail fraud- that's why con artists use couriers. Selling a customer a tandem at a dropzone knowing they will not be honored (i.e. Eloy) is theft by deception. These are criminal acts, plain and simple.
