EGGGGGSACTLY! Wonderful example. McDonalds made you obese, Milwaukee Brewing Company wrecked your liver and the Jack Daniel's Distillery caused your alcoholism. Careful, or we'll get moved to SC.

Personally I would have preferred the ending response to be "if you guys want a party this year go do it yourselves."

An additional factor to consider would be how he responds to concerns and criticism. If he takes them to heart, listens to what he's being told and uses that to reevaluate his decisions he has the maturity to progress into one heck of a skydiver in the future. If he immediately goes into defensive mode about how he's just better than most other pilots and he always flies conservative and we shouldn't be telling him he shouldn't be doing that because he just wants to prove us wrong you might want to check that his waivers are fresh and accurate and recommend he gets covered under medical. If DZs keeps letting people do this stuff they are asking for negligence lawsuits in the future, waiver or no waiver. Hopefully they'd still win, but that doesn't stop them from being filed.

Dang- I can't seem to find the picture of that. It's all Chiquita's fault anyways.

The penguin and the orphanage need me. We'll get the old band back together and get the money for the back taxes to Chicago. Full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarrettes, it's dark out and we're wearing sunglasses. Revival Church of Christ. Macoury boulevard, 11 BP 337 Abidjan 11 Cote d'Ivoire. Dear friend, I am ,Pastor Daniel Williams, pastor incharge Revival Church of Christ here in Abidjan,I know that this letter will come to you as a surprise nevertheless,I will like you to treat the matter as urgent as you can once you receive this message, my contact to you is a divine contact from the direction of our Lord Jesus Christ, hope you will not let down this trust, as I am quite sure that you are also a believer. The late Mrs Elizabeth Najao was a member of this Church because of the trust she had on me as her pastor, before her sudden death she revealed to me $9.5m her late husband Dr.Stephen Najao deposited in a bank here in case she did not survive her sickness, I should make an arrangement with a foreigner in Abroad who will contact the bank as her late husband business partner to provide an account where the bank will transfer the moneyfor the future of their two little kids Victor and Mary, she do not want the money to be invested in this country because of their enemies, now that Mrs Elizabeth was no longer Alive May her soul rest in perfect peace Amen. Please, if this letter touches you and you are willing to guide this money for this orphans with honesty and with the fear of God, please just get back to me immediately so that I will give you more details about the transferand also advice you on what to do.Feel very free to carry on with this transfer with me as I have gone to the bank where the money was lodged and confirmed everything ok, there is no risk involved in this transfer, everything will go according to the will of God and with hope our God will never let me down for directing me to you. I am sending the divine glory of our Lord and peace to you and your family. Pastor Daniel Williams

I'm looking to share the driving from the ATL to the Z-hills. Who's going to organize the Dropzone Soul Train?

Can't we all just get along?

Personal preference. I prefer the stall point to be full extension plus a shoulder roll forward. Others are toggle jockeys and have them so short they stall it out on landing if they're not careful. Shortening the lines will give you that quick response turning, but the question is SHOULD you have them that short right now? Talk to some good canopy pilots/coaches and instructors on where you should set your steering lines. Personally I would err on the side of safety right now- there will be plenty of time to femur later on.

Sinus problems due to equalising?
dbattman replied to Spenck's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If you're stuffed up stay on the ground. I know it's tough when you're starting out, but sinus and ear issues can be very painful. Jumping with a bad case can blow out your sinus cavity or rupture an eardrum. Taking a few pseudapheds can help. As far as equalizing, Valsalva involves cramming MORE air into your ears. If you are climbing the pressure outside your ears is DROPPING relative to inside. Valsalva would be a bad idea for ears on the climb. For sinus I have no idea. Personally I just yawn or chew air and if I have a little lingering discomfort I just grin and bear it until I'm on the ground. For a bad case of pressure I pull out the door and come down slowly. Then I have a beer and reevaluate tomorrow. I take it you've been to a doctor about your sinus, but here's a link anyways. Sinusitis Webpage -
Have your buddy get measured for a rig. That way you have some idea of what the harness needs to be before doing anything. I don't know what's involved in resizing a harness, but it miught be easier and cheaper to sell it and buy one that fits.

I don't know. Ride it again and see what happens.

Would you mention that you are a skydiver?
dbattman replied to Superman32's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
A few lines on your CV about your interests is an opportuinty to show that you are a well rounded person. For me, skydiving is listed on my CV at the end under 'Skills and Training.' It is six words long (Licensed skydiver- United States Parachute Association). Only came up once in an interview because I was referred by an employee who also jumps. Just above that is my private pilots license and the next section below is a few lines about my volunteer experience in South America which relates to a line in my Summary of Skills 'Experienced third world traveler'. You are correct- the perception of your skydiving being a positive or negative will depend on your communication skills and the position. If you are going into sales it's a definite plus. Going into field engineering or manufacturing with aggressive site managers and skilled tradesmen that are into hunting? Plus. Looking to bang a keyboard with a bunch of geeks in a data center for 70 hours a week? Could be a minus- they will probably want you at work all the time with the rest of the overworked and underpaid IT professionals. If you've got some experience and can talk calmly about it relative to the position you are applying for I'd list it but not mention it unless asked. If you giggle and talk about getting plastered at boogies whenever the subject comes up I'd probably skip it. However, it does look better than "Hobbies and Interests: Music, reading, computers" Booooring! -

Since it's winter it's a good time for gear inspections.
dbattman replied to dbattman's topic in Gear and Rigging
One or two old issues have come up again recently, so I'll bring up another one that should be revisited from time to time. Periodic gear inspections. This is the slow season for most of us so it's a good time to get your gear checked and cleaned up. Here's an old thread of mine from a few years and several hundred jumps ago. Now that I'm "older and wiser" I do a better job of checking things out. Some things to look for on your gear. -
Whoops- missed that part. But thanks again for bringing it up. It's good to revist these issues from time to time.

Good catch on the slinks. Get it fixed or replaced ASAP- at least one fatality is believed to have had the brake line locking as a contributing factor. Jumper spiraled all the way in with no control or cutaway. Softlink related fatality

BIIIIIIIIIILL! Where ya been? Welcome back.

Pro-tecs are great helmets for full-contact RW skydiving. They're cheap, protective, and you can customize them with paint and stuff. My first helmet was a purple Pro-tec that I covered with several layers of black paint. I took a razor and cut out this crack pattern on the right forehead like I just slammed into something and covered it with clear acrylic. If it wasn't stolen/lost with my luggage and paid for by Delta I'd still be jumping it. Fortunately my older brother bought me a 'pimp-daddy' Bonehead for Christmas, probably more for the fact it was called 'Bonehead' than any other reason.

Nevermind. Looked it up- Monterey CA. Nice looking plane- might be a stretch for my budget. N200DZ

Whistle blow Personal foul- illegal contact. Five place penalty and loss of item. Sheesh- grown adults acting like complete children. It almost looks like a dropzone without the plane. http://www.edealsinfo.com has good laptops for under $400 and you don't have to engage in full contact shopping. I actually pulled in the Best Buy lot at 4:35 am looking to get a 19" flat screen monitor for $167 after rebate. I drove in, turned down an aisle and went home to bed. I just told myself "Ya know, it's not worth it to be a party to this madness." Later that morning I went to the same site and found one from CompUSA for $199 (rebates) with free shipping.
