  1. Rain, 25MPH wind. 240 feet B.
  2. the windsock analogy does not really work, because the deployment take place in RELATIVE wind, the canopy isnot attached to the pole. i attachad a diagram to examplify. i apologize for the lack of artistic abilities. the perfect tail wind should not affect the headding. it was my experience as well
  3. cross/tail wind affects your openning on short delays(when your fall rate is comparable to the wind speed)because it changes your body position in relative wind. crude example: deploying at 30mph vertical speed with 30MPH cross wind and your sholders parallel to the groung is similar to having your sholder dipped 45 gegrees with no wind. another words the canopy will try to turn into the wind. i donot see how tail wind would affect the oppening on 6 sec.
  4. if you ride on the weekends only make sure to ride SLOW, you do not need a lot of cars to crash, just a wet road and an old lady in a rusty van to pull right in front of you from a hidden driveway. if you want to ride fast you better live on the bike. i quit riding when i started jumping.
  5. it is just like swimming through a current, there is no point in fighting it if you want is to get across. Exiting more into the wind will result in a wider safe sector of possible off-heading openings but the separation from the antenna and the downdwind wire will be less.
  6. how about a side wind, 15-30 MPH, 1-2 sec delay? that would be applicable to an A with 120 sector guidewires with the wing blowing exactly down the wire. IMHO the optimal exit direction is 90 degrees to the wind direction into either downwind sector. any thoughts on that?
  7. just so you know you are looking at a fine pair of a safetyware with a long record of flawless performance. i would venture to guess they saved my ankles in over 700-800 landings some of which would easily qualify for real TV. it is not going to be cheap
  8. i am planning to sell this pair. my favorite.
  9. Looking to share a ride to Royal Gorge Bridge. 2 people. this Fri. 5pm
  10. What are the opening shock strength limits on BASE canopies? What is the failure point on the canopy fabric and darcon lines? How much wear /number of jumps affect it?
  11. i will arrive to Denver at 5:00pm Frontier Airlines Flight 626 leave 6:55pm monday. will be happy to chip in
  12. On multiple occasions I have tested my luck unswerving the question: what is it? by explaining that that my base rig is just a new type of a tent (if looking from the back side), rock-climbing gear (if looking from the harness side) or just "recreational equipment" . I concluded that the personnel do not have the competence to tell the difference. I had a bad luck using a word "parachute" it got the vigilant inspectors alarmed and it took them 20 minutes to figure out what to do next
  13. good investment strategy. Diversification of your holdings
