Large slice of humble pie duly chowed and apologies to Robert.... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 3. Hi Sunshine...did Nathan survive his weekend, or are his travels temporarily suspended.... This thread is prime for hijacking, it doesn't really have a subject in the first place.. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  4. Hey Robert I think your abacus needs recalibrating 3,000 m is about 10,000 ft.... 950 m is about 3,000 ft. 6. I changed my clocks, but on Sunday morning I thought I'd overdone it by about 40 years. World on the edge of conflict, Paranoia, mistrust, fear and loathing are everywhere, Major powers are trying to exert influence over smaller states. The Cuban missile crisis was almost exactly 40 years ago..... Ah well.... The wee one and the dawg don't look at clocks so I was up bright eyed, bushy tailed, and foul mouthed as usual. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson

  9. Sangiro, the 'non American' thread was never, ever, meant to exclude the Americans. From day one we enjoyed the company of the likes of Lisa, Aggiedave, and Quatorze in our early morning chats.. This is not a "them and us" thing......If we have fostered an atmosphere of xenophobia, or anti American sentiment then apologies to everyone who has taken this thing in the wrong context..... Post whoring yes, guilty as charged, but at least it is all in the one thread, rather than spread across some valid discussion points, which often obscures the original post topic. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  10. "some people are just synical aren't they " You want me to be cheerful about a nuclear holocaust? Hey on the upside, we wouldn't have to worry about global warming anymore, the ensuing nuclear winter should just about balance everything up nicely.. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  11. "Arbeit Macht Frei", As written on the gates of Auschwitz if I'm not mistaken.. (work sets you free) Sorry to hear about the lack of jumping...say hi to Iona for me. Congrats on the large family, gosh you have been busy. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 12. "catch the air-wave at its peak!!!!! " Cool, the EMP would disable all aircraft in the immediate vicinity, so if your airborne you'd have to jump anyway, initial freefall would probably be limited as the pulse would also have activated your cypres, a quick tumble out the door with your freebag in your hands would be the order of the day...Which is not a big hassle, the radiation from the fireball would melt the reserve, putting you back into freefall. Once you have adjusted yourself to the new sensations, you would probably spend the rest of your jump slashing away at the atttached reserve lines. Moments from impact you clear your lines and chuck out the hackey, to save your life, and set up for that final swoop, then the blast hits you, and you chow, ruining your best ever turf surf.... Hey, at least you won't have to worry about packing... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  13. Mike Brand, how the hell are you??? Long time no see! Last time I saw you you were recovering from a bad landing that some fool of a jump master put you into... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  14. Not worth it....Hacking the company security system will get me the sack...simple as that.... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  15. And both firewalls and suppositories are administered by people with virtually no sense of humour. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 17. "the Only had Alchohol I drink is ABSINTHE!!!!" Ah, absinthe makes the heart grow fonder...I didn't think you guys could get absinthe over there, something about it being banned for health reasons...unlike firearms. And Spumante Champagne is not a drink, its an Oxymoron.. Yes, I'm an alcohol freak too. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  18. "Excuse me....I am over 30 and I'm NOT old. " Umm, I'm with you Lisa, both in years and sentiment, "its not the years, its the miles.." Indiana Jones. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 19. "Get the Non-American Thread to the Gear Forum!!! " Winston again...."When the eagles are silent, the parrots begin to jabber" And "We shall not fail or falter; we shall not weaken or tire. Neither the sudden shock of battle nor the long-drawn trials of vigilance and exertion will wear us down. Give us the tools and we will finish the job. " "Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. " And finally...... "It is a good thing for an uneducated man to read books of quotations. " Ole Winston got a good airing this weekend. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 20. It would be a nie DZ, but they would have to work on the 'atmosphere'. And what price jump tickets? "Please send me some of the stuff you are smoking. " Send some to me too, plain brown packaging please. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 21. "The Amercians will always do the right thing....after they have exhausted all the alternatives." Winston Churhill. President John F. Kennedy summarized Winston S. Churchill's rhetorical grandeur with the statement that "In the dark days and darker nights when England stood alone--and most men save Englishmen despaired of England's life--he mobilized the English language and sent it into battle." Which I thought was a nice comeback. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 22. "If its not unuasual to pump the toggles for a fully open Fury...doesn't that make this PC an undesirable one? " All canopy designs have their own "characteristics", nearly all the Furys I have ever jumped (about 300 jumps on furys of varying vintage) required some toggle input to clear end cell closure...It doesn't make them undesireable. Other canopies have issues too....Stilettos can spin you up, Monarchs/sabres can slam you on opening, et, etc. For the record....I think the Fury is a good all round canopy for its era.....They are quite at home doing demos in to tight arenas, great accuracy canopies, and are excellent for CRW....They make great transition canopies from student gear. You just normally have to work with them a little.. Ye gawds....a conversation about jumping...is this the right thread??? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  23. "A moment of pumping on the toggles got the Fury to open fully." Thats not unusual with a Fury... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
