Small browser window good.... "I always have my thumb and finger poised on the ALT-TAB when reading posts, especially when that small browser window has a picture of "..the usual suspects no doubt... I keep a 'full window" of something work related open with the small dz.com stuff going on top of that, safety is never more than a mouse click outside of the fun window pane. Also minimise the start bar if you leave your desk, but are still logged on....put the moose over the top of the start bar border till you see up and down arrow, and drag down it till its invisible.....then no tell tale buttons are there. Lo tech solutions no doubt and these won't protect you from any web watching type stuff that bastard emplyers use to make us work...grrrr.... Oh and try and avoid snorting coffee, bagels, danish etc all over your work station. Its a dead giveaway. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "and still do, although I have dropped the "promiscuous" bit from my act " I've known a few girls in my time who were into 'promising sexual antics'. Oh its not just shuffling papers around that we should teach the novices. Sometimes I like to wander aimlessly around with a large folder muttering techno babble at any one who questions what I am up to.... My current favourite is to open a big complex spreadsheet on the screen, curse loudly then storm off for a ciggie, till the giggle fit subsides... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Ah, have a go at the kilt, the last resort of an Englishman living in Scotland.....Its called a national identity, pride in your forefathers, and a great excuse to wear a frock with minimal/zero underwear Mike dude, sheep/wellies/edge of a cliff...thats so last century....Ya gotta move with the times. Velcro aprons and a hat pin are now the order of the day.... shkrrrkkk...now wriggle bitch... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Kerry, the only way I can keep a straight face is to sit on a drawing pin...of course you may have to resort to other methods such as sticking a ball point in your ear, or taping up the keyboard with duct tape, sticking your fingers into electrical sockets etc. If none of these work for you, I sometimes >>>>whispers secretively

"I noticed a big difference in the forward speed from the first two to the last one, and was kind of curious as to why it made that much of a difference with what little wind we must have had" Lets do a little math here....Assuming 7mph wind, which not much more than a mouse's fart.... say the Samurai flies with an airspeed of about 30 mph, into wind your ground speed would be about 23 mph, downwind you would be going about 37 mph, thats a difference of 14 mph, or about 60% increase in ground speed. And that is without any speed increasing maneuvres such as a carve, or a hook into finals..... I dunno what you are loading that 120 at, so your numbers will inevitably differ. Big Air sugest a wing loading of 1.3+, which may be a little aggressive for low jump numbers, but I'm no canopy nazi.... It must have been fun swooping deep snow, but bear in mind if you stick a leg into a drift doing 30+ mph, something is bound to hurt.. We don't like hearing about peeps who get hurt.. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Okay Zen, Initially i suggested that you melt it and make a closing pin.....LAME..... My revised suggestion, after pondering your quandary into the wee small hours is.... Cash in the ring, and spend the procedes on wild women, drink, drugs, and debauchery, and then just waste what is left on other stiff. You know its what Liz would have wanted.... Okay? "I am building glove-mounts for video cameras. " I have a nice wrist mount that a rigger made for me, the mount is made from tape, similar to that used by climbers, your a rigger, I'm sure you know the stuff.... It works fine, is very easy to put on etc. It gets some cool deplyment shots, and entertains me when none else wants to play..... On the subject of innovation....What about Oliver Furrer and his winged skysurf board, which looks like something from a Sci Fi fest. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. The radio news this morning included an interview with what sounded like a local doctor. He had run blood anlysyes, and came to the conclusion that the gas used was in effect a medical gas based on opiates. Perfectly safe to administer, under supervision of a trained anaesthetist, otherwise ther is the risk of serious hram, as was sadly the case here. No secret stockpiles of sneaky chemical agent apparently.... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. LOL @ Blue, an oldie, but one that wears well. Erno, serious talking time..The Russian Theatre siege. My opinion, the situation should never have arisen in the first place. I don't think Russia should be in Chechenya (along with a cadre from the American 5th mountain division, but thats an entirely separate issue and one which should not be discussed on the US friendly thread) so there you go. Other than that, this one was never going to end well (I think you said this at the time the news broke, Erno), 700 hostages and 50 'terrorists/rebels/freedom fighters' means that there will be casualties on both sides. Hazard and probability factors add up to an unfavourable outcome. As for using a gas, well I initially thought "oh no, secret stockpiles of chemical weapons" but it transpires the gas used was a narcotic, probably opiate based. It appears that most of the dead were not casualties of gunfire, but as a direct result of using a narcotic gas. I beleieve the Russians hand was forced when the captors started shooting inside the theatre, when that happened, the Russians were committed to 'doing something' regardless of the state of readiness of their plans and solutions. I would be interested to see how various 'special forces' types would advise a solution to such a situation. Especially in an era where there is zero tolerance to making deals with 'terrorists'. I'd welcome other opinions on this from the usual sources.. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Okay folks, I don't know why we are getting upset about this, however, a few things to bear in mind. Firstly, I fed the little furry mountain dweller with some wit/sarcasm/cynicism whatever, and probably ensouraged him to post more than he should. Secondly, he was posting form Washington, said he'd been drinking and taking pills at what would have been around midnight your (USA) time. Thirdly HH gave the troll a fair chance by talking quietly with him and warning him of his impending meeting with the Hot Fork. Fourthly (is there such a word? ) he is obviously low time if he has any jumps at all, so he is bound to make a few mistakes and carry some misconceptions..... Fifthly, maybe this was some sort of cry for attention, if so he got it... So, lessons learned..... Don't post stoned. Don't post drunk. Don't post when your angry, or tired, or emotional. Don't enter a battle of sarcasm with a wide awake forum. Don't tell your future friends to indulge in bestiality, unless of course you know them well enough to get away with the joke. And finally, if you can't take the prong, don't get it wrong. Apart from that, I don't see why he should be booted, just informed of his "Faux Pas", indiscretions etc, maybe he does have something of value to bring here, if we boot him, we'll never know. I mean, we are civilised ain't we? Besides, we can talk about this all we like, we can take polls etc, but none of us can actually boot people we disagree with off the forum. Thats what the moderators are for. We like to think we have some say here, but in reality we have zero influence over HH decisions. 'This ain't no democracy' applies, unless of course you subscribe to the Iraqi definition of democracy. If you want the power to control who posts here, go start up your own forum... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. recharge batteries...professionally?
nacmacfeegle replied to skyboyblue's topic in Photography and Video
This phenoenon is known those of who used NiCads as striping. NiMH batteries are more resistsant to striping than NiCads, but it appears they are not immune. I would suggest following Phreezones advice, but repeat the process of full discharge, and full recharge cycle, about 6 times to clear any 'memory' or striping efects. Cleaning the battery contacts on both the battery and the cam can help too. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
