"yea I didnt see it but WTF is with everyone lately?" I reckon its a combination of SAD (seasonally adjusted disorder), crap weather, and the full moon! -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. What do you pay for the privilege of driving?

Tax disc for a car over in the UK is about 160 USD, Tax on our gas makes it 4 times as expensive as US gasoline. (about a dollar a litre) You must have insurance and roadworthiness test on the vehicle, about 50 usd for the test, insurance depends on whether its a banger or a ferrari... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Hmm, cost be damned, hell it would have to be the shuttle... More practically, the AN72 beats the Herc, and I have jumped both. Big birds I haven't jumped though would have to include the Illyushin IL76 (has been at a boogie in europe), the pics and vid looked awsome... Also the MI 26, world's largest chopper (oo-err missuss..) -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Sky(ermmmm can I call you slut?), that sounds like the things I've seen before. If you've seen both and there is a definite difference, I am definitely up the wrong alley. Thanks for helping me to find my way back out again.

I use a Maxtor external hard drive, 40Gb, its kinda old now, but it still works fine, its no noisier than any other drive. It requires a separate power supply, and the Firewire port must be OHCI compatible (any modern firewire card will be compliant as opposed to dedicated video cards such Raptor etc. Works fine no problems with dropped frames etc. You can chain 20 or so firewire devices together. On the archive front, I use minidv tapes to backup projects, they are cheaper than DVDs, and if its video you are storing, they are better resolution. Project files such as EDLs, graphics, titles, choons etc I backup on good old fashioned CDrom. PM me if you have any queries.... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. In the UK it is okay to get dispensation from BPA to jump thru clouds, you need to have access to decent metfax, and use a GPS for the spot. The proposal has to be considered at a a council meeting. Hinton and Headcorn have obviously gone this route. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Erno, all the 'Non European' Cessnas I've jumped have been fitted with seat belts. The only way to get comfy is not to fasten them as if you were in a car, but hook them thru a piece of harness, as mentioned earlier......Although I do agree with teh single mass priciple you discuss, but the fitting of restraints is an FAA thing I believe. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Islander doors are pretty small, so getting out on the floater step is not that easy (who's islander was it? They are all different), could you have brushed the cam on the door frame on the way out? I learned my tandem filming out of G-BELF, which had no floater rail, just a piece of wood taped to the fuselage roof. Another thing to watch out for, on some Sony cams there are 3 settings for recording 1-cam will record as long as the button is pushed down, release the button and the cam stops. 2- Burst shooting, the cam will record for 5 seconds after the button is pushed. 3- Continuous shhoting press the button and the cam runs till its pressed again. Could it be that with all your fiddling on the ride up you accidentally changed the shooting mode... Oh yeah, a cam eye helps a load. Battery performance decays rapidly in cold temp, so its worth watching out for, get a spare battery and keep it on charge at the DZ, and alternate batteries on loads so one is always 100% and ready to go. Keep you battery inside your jump suit (fit it at 2 minute call) until you can get a spare one. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "would we be tossed in with the big dogs?" If I were still in Texas I would play anyways, what do you have to lose? I've always find competing to be very educational, and you get to meet way more people, and you have loads of fun. Competition is fun, regardless of the discipline involved, hats (or furry Gaths) off to Goat for getting this moving. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. I agree with you Mike, there appears to be discrepancies in the application of the law....And on that subject I will bow to your superior knowledge. I too doubt that this will amount to much, its a typical storm in a teacup that the media is so fond of during dull news days. "Let's get one thing clear, Pete Townsend is INNOCENT... At least until all the stuff seized is examined, and IF there's evidence of child pornography, he is prosecuted, and found Guilty." That only applies in a real trial, what we have here is trial by media, which is a terrible thing. Wouldn't it be better if 'the authorities' brought down these sites rather than going after people who visit them. If they can bring down things like Napster, then surely it is a relatively simple matter. Its got to be better than the knee jerk reactions we've seen lately, see also the furore over people filming things like nativity plays and such like. I dunno, any thoughts? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. This is the cat's way of saying they love you, they bring you little presents. You should take it as a compliment.

"Did Townsend have pics of a child, or was it cached images of a pop-up ad for "nasty-teen-sluts"? " Well the law over here is quite clear on the matter, if you look at pictures of underage kids and they could be construed as 'pornographic' you are breaking the law, whether you are conducting research or monitoring sites, or whatever. You don't even have to download the material, you only have to view it to lay yourself open to charges such as this.. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
