"It happened 2 blocks from me..LOSER!!!" Aha, I think he was distracted from pushing on to the summit by the sight of some drunken geezer walking his dog in his underwear...? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=291207;search_string=apartments;#291207 -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. You sound bitter Cajones.... I should be too, but I'm over all that now..You know what I mean. There are two 'audio layers' on DV tape, I didn't know this till last nite when I was pissing around with my mini DV tape deck. If the sound isn't there via firewire, or playing on different cameras etc, then maybe its because the original sound was screwed up. Does Avid capture both these layers?.... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "just doesn't fit in with my philosophical agenda" No worries Clay, I didn't have you pegged as a Buddhist anyways... "Next time I'll shoot that bitch instead of myself." "I didn't get laid enough this year, and only about 80% of what I got was worth the effort it took to get." I didn't get laid nearly enough last year, but just one of those lays has changed my life forever.... One thing I learned this year, its not about the quantity....damn, never thought I'd hear myself say that! -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "His commitment to something was demonstrated by self-immolation, and at least two people see that...Happythoughts and I. " 3 people agree, me too! Its a horrific yet very powerful image from that conflict, it ranks alongside the little girl running from the napalm. Thought provoking indeed. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Spain wins hans down.... Empuriabrava is full of Germans anyway, so you won't miss it. "Hence mutley's expression eh? What happened? " Minor drama, I used to stow the excess brake line in the 'link loop' part of the risers, one day it knotted up round the riser. I chopped, no big drama, but it spoiled my day. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "How did you do that McFly?? " Just before I came to Houston...apparently , Susie called me the first night I was there...... "Dachshund/Chihuahua " Hell's teeth Ann, and you asked ME how my wee one happened!? Poor Chihuahua.....Will this keep Flea out of your lingerie drawer now he has to be all responsible and fatherly? I hope so... Pleased to see the Airann home for freefliers and various animals is thriving! Say Hi to Levin for me... "she has still slept through every single night since birth" You will never know how lucky you are! "Calum is probably plotting how to get into the girls' diapers already." LMAO, he hasn't figured out how to get his own ones off yet.. Lucy will always the 'older woman' to Calum.. But fret not, he has twin redhead cousins who are about 6 months older, and I'm sure those gals will torture him as he grows up... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Hey Justin nice pics, she is a cutie, but you keep that wee minx away from my angel! As for the transatlantic cutest baby comp, well, I don't think we'd ever get a resolution on that one. It would probably raise more arguments than an RSL discussion late at night.... But they grow up quick don't they, I've seen a huge difference in your wee one. Calum is now 5months and about 15lbs, so he has a way to catch up on Lucy. She's going to break some hearts, no two ways about it. Still got that breast pump thing going? hehehe "Whotsisname" (shame on you Michele) indeed! Cya with more cute snaps soon. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "I heard they need to increase by 10% for a new record in the same organization. So they need 330." Hmm I've never heard of this 10% rule....I checked the FAI site and there's nothing there about this... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. I have one in my main rig, my standby rig doesn't, and my crew rig definitely not... I am just as comfortable jumping without one as with. The only valid argument against having an AAD is finance, apart from Crew and water considerations. A new Cypres costs about 800 dollars, how much is your life worth? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Why have 2 audible mounts on a helmet?
nacmacfeegle replied to sundevil777's topic in Gear and Rigging
"Wouldn't it be distracting to have the tones going off at slightly different altitudes? Even if they were just a fraction of a second apart, it might make for a strange combination (construcive/destructive interference and what not)" Why have 2? because there is no room for a third! The pingley peeps don't 'cancel each other out' Anti noise is very twitchy to set up. I don't set them for the same altitude, why have two alarm clocks set for the same time? I set mine 500 feet apart. "Seriously, isn't the repeated, mixed tones distracting" Seriously, thats the whole point of an audible warning device, they are not altimeters, they are alarms, designed to distract you. Batteries can die, but the device should warn of its imminent failure on aircraft take off......The pressure sensing port can get blocked, thats why I have 2 Okay, I have some bad habits from my camera flying days, I seldom look at my alti in freefall...shock, horror, gasp, cries of 'heretic, burn him'......So to mitigate this, I rely heavily on my audibles......2 audibles are 4 times more reliable than 1, 3 would be nine times more reliable...... I have a spare one in my rig bag too, along with a set of spare cells for them all....... Besides, I won a protrack in a raffle, which helps a lot! I'm not advocating that everybody should jump two audibles, but for the price of 5-6 jumps, you can get a Timeout as a back up...how much is your peace of mind worth? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Or you can "Larks foot" a rubber band onto the riser. But Never, EVER, EVER stow the excess up where the links attach.....Well, I won't ever do it again... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Hehehe, thanks for the props guys. TRUST ME....He will master belly first, then sit, then stand, then head down. Right now, he likes it on his back..... I will NOT, under ANY circumstances buy him a babygro with grippers... BTW he already loves freefall, but then so do all kids.... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
