Gawain, in my filed ..oil and gas, the main contractor simply supplies the infrastructure to manage design and procurement, th profit they make is something like 10-20%. The raw materials will come from places like Germany/Japan for steel pipe fittings etc. With free trade in Europe tracking components to country of origin will be difficult to say the least. FRom my time in the sand in happier more peaceful times, I'd say the 'family unit' culture is very strong.
