Wish I could get one of those handouts. All the years I've owned stock I knew I was missing something! Even had to pay for the stock with money I saved from my earnings. Oh I forgot, that's a foreign concept to some of you. Blue skies, Jim

Almost like "from those who have to those who need" right Bill. Blue skies, Jim

Ok so the formula is a general "rule of thumb" calculation since the time is derived from the feet of separation. For more precise calcs we need your simulation model. Blue skies, Jim

Grand opening of the largest Honda dealership in the Southwest. InsaneDaddy, JumperConway, and I made two jumps each. Amanduh. DZTom, EZBoyd and LeahB were the ground crew. It's always fund to land to applause and high five all the kids, eat free, drink free and best of all jump free. Only negative was when the police showed up because someone on the adjacent freeway called 911 and reported a jumper without a parachute. We decided it must have been Conway doing his hook with his white main hard to see against the white puffy clouds in the background. And the best salesperson awared goes to Amanduh! Thanks to everyone who made this demo a success. Blue skies, Jim

Bored at the DZ one rainy day and came up with wingloading risk calculators. The second was created from a Parachutist article several years ago. Not everyone will agree with the results because they are pretty conservative. This is only two pages out of my DZ Utilities file. Hope this helps. Blues. Blue skies, Jim

Performance Designs Bad Attitude
gemini replied to binkster's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Oh so you didn't talk to PD at 6AM, you listened to a voicemail that came in at 6AM? And by the way, I am not impressed and don't make threats. I'm just gona' make sure I don't sell you anything. Not a threat, but a promise. Good luck with your jumping career. I hope I never have to read your incident report. Blue skies, Jim -

Yep there it is folks, he is out for vengence for being mistreated by the big, bad PD. I don't give a &^%$ about who approved him, who refused or what time he was called, because I am never selling him squat. Blue skies, Jim -
In our case, the dropzone gets paid less and the customer gets charged more. That's a hell'va deal! Blue skies, Jim

I would agree with you except for the total line of bullshit that they tell their customers. They charge them a "Port Fee", and "Pilot Chute Fee", no tandem weight limits, seeing the shuttle launch from altitude at Spaceland (we're in Texas and I think the shuttle launches if Florida) and on and on and fee the customer the biggest line of bullshit I have ever heard. If they would just clean up their act they would have a great service that would benefit them and skydiving all across the country similar to 1-800-skydive. I didn't believe how bad the BS was until I called them and acted like a whuffo. Try it yourself. If everyone stopped using them, they would change or be limited in their business. Greed Buzz, that's all it is. Blue skies, Jim

Performance Designs Bad Attitude
gemini replied to binkster's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This keeps getting funnier and funnier. I am glad he posted though because I know several people who will make sure he doesn't ever become one of their customers or sponsored team members. This attitude is exactly why Herb Kelleher, retired CEO of Southwest Airlines one of the only remaining profitable airlines, states that at Southwest the customer is not always right! Sometimes it is the employee and they must be backed up when they are right. I still say sour grapes dude. You've got 'em and they taste bad, but you keep eating them. Spit them out and move on while you still have options. Blue skies, Jim -

That's the funniest thing I have read in quite a while. Sounds to me like you didn't get your way, so now you're going to get even! Blue skies, Jim -
Billy, we don't have a state income tax in TX "yet" so I can't say what the state legislatiors have done in TX or any other state. But you are correct for federal tax purposes. All the tax returns I have prepared for the last two years have shown a remarkable increase in refund amounts without any significant changes in the taxpayer gross income. Good idea to adjust your withholding because Uncle Sam doesn't pay interest to you for loaning him the money and doesn't give you any credit for paying early either! Blue skies, Jim

Can someone tell me why my ProTrack is possessed?
gemini replied to NoShitThereIWas's topic in Gear and Rigging
If you don't wait the two minutes, the low battery electronics do not fully discharge. When you put the batters back in, the unit still thinks they are low on power and will start acting up. Good point. Take the batteries out and wait two full minutes before putting them back in. Remember to reset the date and time. If you still get the erratic beeps, then send it in. Re: My earlier post: I didn't want to say they replaced my protrack for free since I really don't know what their official policy is, but they actually did just give me a free blue one. Can someone tell me why my ProTrack is possessed?
gemini replied to NoShitThereIWas's topic in Gear and Rigging
Yep it's possessed! I had one do the same thing. No external damage to the unit, so I sent it back to L&B and they replaced it at a great price between $0 and ...best customer service I have ever seen. Blue skies, Jim -
there are over 20,000 brands of beer! Dave we've got a long way to go if we are gona' finish sampling them. Blue skies, Jim

Last year at WFFC a guy in our 8-way hit the side of the Casa on exit and had his container open and the bag come out in a classic horseshoe. As we motioned for him to pull, he touched his handles and hackey with a puzzled look. Finally, he pulled to go directly into a baglock. Since it was high speed mal, we fell with him from around 12k to 5k where he cut the baglock away and deployed his reserve. The last view of him I had was seeing massive line twists as I dropped below him. Horseshoe, baglock and line twists all in one jump! Not his day. He had video and one of the other guys had video. It was interesting to see the two views. Wish I could remember who it was so we could get it posted. Gary Peek was the LO so maybe he will remember. Blue skies, Jim

Skydiving Video Set to Van Halen's "Jump"?
gemini replied to Shotgun's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Steve Boyd showed me the video when Tim was visiting the new Spaceland. I will ask him if he still has the copy and see if the vid guys can put it on a CD. It was pretty good especially considering the equipment they had to use to dub it in those days. Blue skies, Jim -
Depending on where you are re: temperature the ski googles could be very uncomfortable since they are made to retain warmth even though they are ventilated. Blue skies, Jim

0:13:1 Pretty good weekend even thought weather limited us to 1 jump on Sunday. 10 8-way jumps with Spaceland 8 (Thanks everyone for letting me play with you!), a 300th & 500th jump combo for Larissa and Kimmey, and 1 4/4-way hybrid organized by Anomaly with lots of stingers. Blue skies, Jim

Recently, I was diagnosed with A. A. A. D. D. – Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. This is how it manifests: I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide my car needs washing. As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Coke that I had been drinking. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. I see that the Coke is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need to be watered. I set the Coke down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do. At the end of the day: the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter, the flowers don't have enough water, there is still only one check in my check book, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys. Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail. Do me a favor, will you? Forward this message to everyone you know, because I don't remember to whom it has been sent. I guess as long as I remember to PULL I'm still OK! Blue skies, Jim

Amanduh told me I lit up like a red neon sign when she told me what it meant. Probably was pretty bad on the old ticker too! Blue skies, Jim

Hey Lisa, I do this almost every weekend! It is hard sometimes to tell your long-time friends that you're doing a 2-way and declining their offer to join a 6, 8+ way. You get "that" look. Blue skies, Jim
