  1. Hey, they're not finals for us anymore; they're unannounced pop quiz's on a variety of subjects! Life.... Blue skies, Jim
  2. Tami: I just heard and am glad that Scotty will be ok. Keep him on his meds and kick his ass for me! If he gives you any more trouble than usual, call on several of us and we will take care of him for you...;) Blues and hang in there for the old man, Jim Blue skies, Jim
  3. John, I'm here, but out of the country right now. I will post the event on bigways.com as soon as I get back next Saturday. Save me a slot in IL and Tim, I want one in FL too! Blues, Jim Blue skies, Jim
  4. Last weekend I was first out in a two-way. There was another 2-way behind us. In freefall, I see one of guys fall past us with about 200 ft separation. What scared me was that I couldn't find his buddy, so our jump effectively stopped when the first guy went past. I landed and asked the guy how much time he had given us and he replied "3 seconds". He got a quick lesson in separation, upper winds, ground speed, etc. A lot of jumpers will yell at people in the door regardless of what is going on. I have also been requested by a 4-way team to make sure the 2-way behind them gave them a good delay. I stood up when the 4-way did and leaned out the door when they exited and watched. Then turned to the two-way and said "you ready?" On the ground I made sure the two-way (two very inexperienced jumpers) understood why I did what I did. Turns out they had not given the 4-way team much separation on an earlier jump, but did not realize it because no one had talked to them about upper wind speeds since one of their early AFF jumps. 5. Yep, let's not congratulate the Houston teams 'cause we all know Dallas is really better! Blue skies, Jim
  6. Hey I was in A-1-1 too! but starting in Feb 67. Blue skies, Jim
  7. Tom J, Iceman, Rich Delgado and I will be there. Blue skies, Jim
  8. Not in Texas! Not really sure why you think this is harder. Looking at the horizon doesn't necessarily mean you are tracking in a straight line especially if there is movement on the horizon (like fast moving clouds). My instructor told me that the reason they taught look to the horizon was to teach the student to stay level (thus straight) similar to how you learn to stand or go head down to stay vertical. 9. Don't worry about the jumpsuit. Just stick your legs out...try pointing your toes a little. Make sure your arms aren't going forward when you push your legs out. You think you've got your legs out, but in reality they are not out as far as your think. Get a video of your next jump. Blue skies, Jim
  10. there's already a polka dot otter out there. More.... Blue skies, Jim
  11. We are getting close to getting them all painted, so looking for great ideas. Will consider stripes, slashes, zig zags, etc., but no fish, animals, nudes or landscapes. If we select your design, I may be able to get you a few jumps or some $$. Thanks. Blue skies, Jim
  12. About 125 POPS members will be at Perris over Labor Day weekend! After we set the new POPS World Record, I'll bet we can round up an 8-way for you.... Blue skies, Jim
  13. Amen to that! It's the one place where I know I can spend $4-$5 for a small cup of burned coffee. I miss New Orleans coffee. Blue skies, Jim
  14. Trent has hung from my chest strap both on exit and traditional drop from belly position after exit. Belly flyer usually has to get arms more out in front for stability. Seems to work best if the hanger launches in a sit. One of my favorites was when he launched in a sit while holding chest strap with with one hand. After getting off the hill, he swung up to belly then swung up to stand on my back, then flipped forward and docked on my hands while back flying.

  17. Standing in line to board with wife and Trent. Lady behind me said (after looking me over since Trent and Janice were nicely dressed) "This line is for First Class. Are you?" I turned and looked at her and her husband and replied "Yes, are you?" Boy was it quiet after that except for Trent laughing. Blue skies, Jim
  18. This is really strange. I've never received and invite either, but Larry Henderson told me via email this week that I was on the list. Apparently the refund from the 36-ways acted as my deposit. Hope they let me know what day and time to be there! Blue skies, Jim
  19. Maybe now we will get to jump together! Blue skies, Jim
  20. Sherry there will be a lot of unhappy freeflyers when they hear this. Thanks for supporting Anomaly all these years! Jim
  21. New Texas Headdown Record of 16 [oops] set today at Skyfest. It looks like everyone is having a great time. Passing the Super Otter in Mullins King Air is a great visual!!! SCR ceremonies, fireworks, fire dancing and a few other things going on tonight. [Oops] New Texas Women's Formation record nullified. Although the formation was complete, when the jumpers were counted there were 32 including video. Dirt dive included only 31 including video and manifest showed only 31 including video. Who is the mystery woman??? Blue skies, Jim
  22. Woo boy, 300 registered jumpers as of 10 AM! Lots of people, great weather although a tad warm, terrific organizers, and way to much beer!!! Blue skies, Jim
  23. Here's a few more from Luis Blue skies, Jim
