  1. Bottle of oxygen to revive those that fall asleep next to the bonfire and are covered with ash the next morning. Blue skies, Jim
  2. Noooo! Had at least one out on our 5th jump on Sunday (5 jumps between 7:00aM and 2:00PM....what a day!) Rainouts really hurt by not allowing us the luxery of working out the problems and then making a few jumps with everything clicking. Progress from first jump to 5th was amazing though. Jumpers were working hard knowing it was all on the line. Tim Webb, Carl and Carey did a great job. Pilots did some amazing flying and DeLand was great! Thanks everyone for a great attempt. Now it's on to the Wright 200-ways and the TSR 150-ways. Blue skies, Jim
  3. ...we should be receiving.... Captains routinely send out information about start times, changes, etc. I try to email everyone from my yahoo account when I get the returned mail notice. Blue skies, Jim
  4. Yep...posted last night 2/21/07 with notices emailed this morning to all approved jumpers. FYI: We are getting emails bounced back from all Earthlink and Comcast servers since they have identified us as a spam site??? If your email is at Earthlink.com or Comcast.com, you may not be receiving your email from the TSR website. Blue skies, Jim
  5. Ok guys. We had a TSR meeting last night and I was told to hold the slot release. Then this morning, I get an email that says "Ok release the slotting." Yes..no...maybe..wait..go........ Finally, a green light. Start checking the website in the morning (12/22/07 Thursday). The only thing that won't be on-line yet is the break-off sequence, but it is coming too! Blues everyone.... Jim
  6. Ding, ding...you win. It will be the slots! Blue skies, Jim
  7. Ok got the list to be published tonight. I will have it on the website http://www.texasstaterecord.com under "Formations" tomorrow 2/20/07. Blue skies, Jim
  8. Nope, one captain has not completed his review. Sorry
  9. Cold in Houston too! Weatherman said it would be sunny so took the day off. Got on the 9:30 load and it was up to 31F from 27F last night and at 13k it was -12F. I wasn't dressed nearly warm enough!!! Remember it's all relative...last week we had a day in the high 70F's.
  10. I've got them all and in html and ready to post to http://www.texasstaterecord.com, but waiting on Tom's final ok. Blue skies, Jim
  11. All vary with changes to compressors, HP rating, etc. Blue skies, Jim
  12. Bob: Not that I know of, but you are No. 8 in the right otter docking in a zipper on the base. Jim
  13. Last weekend the DZO, Trent and I were talking when the DZO turned to Trent and said "Order your Dad a new canopy." Trent ordered it this week. Thanks Steve. Blue skies, Jim
  14. I'll be there heading up the Caravan in Right Rear Trail. Blue skies, Jim
  15. An event can't be posted because it is "6 mos out"? We can talk about boobies, skyride, and other crap for years, but not a skydiving event? And one that helps skydivers to boot! What are these new rules and where the hell are they posted? Or does a moderator just not want to hear about the specific event? Blue skies, Jim

This looks like it will be a great event.
  17. Don't know if USPA has looked at this list, but since we have not had many changes in awhile, I have posted the list as the "Unofficial Records" on BigWays.com and TexasStateRecord.com. Thanks to everyone who contributed and has helped keep the list current. Gave you all a plug on the website! blues, Jim
  18. You should always wave off! If the people behind you exited to soon, they may be right above you. Make it a habit so you automatically do it on every jump. Another when jumping with others is to always track as hard as you can. 1) to practice tracking, 2) to get better at it, and 3) to always insure your separation if someone to your right or left, or above or below you tracks into your space; AND remember to wave off after tracking! Blue skies, Jim
  19. Spaceland is 130 acres. Good outs except for West (Left) which is a swampy area with briars and trees. Google Earth image was taken before runway and taxiways were paved. Otter is on taxiway and Cessna is on hanger pad in shadow. Swoop pond, swimming pond, muddy pond and both DZ RV parks are visable. Blue skies, Jim
  20. Be careful with those critters! They have terrible eyesight, are not very smart, and can carry something very similar to leprosy. Blue skies, Jim
  21. One of the deployment bag grommets is bent upward and creased, Bag material is beginning to release. Concern today was that a line could snag under the bent section. Anyone got any ideas how this could have happened? Sabre2 150 with about 1,700 jumps on the bag and main. Line set probably has 300-400 jumps at this time. Grommet was not bent at beginning of day. thanks, Blue skies, Jim
  22. And... if the pilot tells you to get out the separation may be an issue, but it may be the least of your problems if you hesitate in the door. Just because the airplane is flying steady and level when the pilot yells "get out", it may not stay that way long. Give the jumpers behind you a chance to also get out. Get out, get out quick, clean, deploy and scan your air. Landing out is a nuisance, but it happens and you should always be prepared for it. Blue skies, Jim
  23. Supposed to be near 80F today at Spaceland. Sitting at the dz waiting on the sea fog to clear. Blue skies, Jim
  24. A bright flash of light, a knee knocks out my face plate, and whiplash from head to toe...that's a hard opening! Blue skies, Jim
