  1. Better to be referred to generically than incorrectly. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  2. Then you are in for a treat this weekend as Weston have an unusual tailgate aircraft called a Skyvan so you'll exit from the back rather than the more usual side exit. In fact, it is probably going to be this aircraft We all say that! But seriously, it is a very good DZ. Exactly. It always sounds like a hard sell when I recommend people to have video but I have no financial motivation in doing so. It's a pretty overwhelming experience. The 45 seconds you spend in freefall will seem like 5 so it is invaluable to help you relive it. Knowledge dispels fear. What are you girlfriends worries? Talk to the instructors and they will attempt to allay most of them. You don't need luck! Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  3. Wow! That is steep compared to USA prices. Our videos run $79 or $99 with stills. So is petrol (gas), so are jump tickets in the UK. The average price of a tandem in the UK is well in excess of $400, so the price of the video is market rate. No need to have that conversation again. 4. Hi Mart, Where are you doing your tandem? Weston or Hinton I'm guessing If you think you might book an AFF course, glean as much information out of your tandem instructor as you can, especially canopy control as it will pay dividends when you are under canopy on your own. £90 is pretty reasonable for a video. Don't forget, that includes the plane ride for the cameraman, years and years of building up the experience to be able to capture the moment, the thousands of pounds of equipment on their head, not to mention the time and effort editing it afterwards and sending it out. Have fun. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  5. So if he could have reached it, he would have still jumped it even though it was on fire? I didn't realise they had senseless acts of video in those days! Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  6. How about this Craig. N3463L How about this Ed N3462L Sadly, seems as though it was fatal Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  7. Yes, but then it pushes back the 8-way and artistics competitions. This happened a couple of years ago and quite a few people got upset about it so the rules regarding this were rewritten. Get this: At the moment, the forecast is looking good, so fingers crossed! Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  8. N34621 is registered to a Stinson 10A but that looks like a Cessna 206? Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  9. A dropzone in the UK recently proposed a trial of a tandem progression system but it was not carried at the most recent Safety and Training Committee meeting. Paraphrasing the minutes (Paragraph 9 A.O.B., item c), Is this a fair statement? I'd be interested in the experiences of both larger and smaller dropzones who have tried, and either adopted or discarded, a tandem progression system. Please try and avoid the temptation to go down the route that BPA stands for Ban Parachuting Altogether. Edit: For the sake of argument, let's call a smaller dropzone a Cessna or a non-turbine one. Here is the full section of the relevant minutes. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  10. I am hoping its a joke. Not deploying the drogue is a foolish idea and a violation. Have you seen the Atmonauti Tandem? Done in Europe on European gear so no violation (depending on country's regulatory body? As for foolish... Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

  13. Sorry guys, in an effort to remove some pictures that may not be intended for publication yet, I managed to hatchet many posts including pics from James, Jeff and Scott. Please repost the ones you have permission for. Thanks. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

  15. A member votes for a director who sits on the BOD but that director votes for an ED that the member would not have wanted. Shouldn't a constituent know how the person they voted for (or even didn't) acted so that they may factor that into any future decision or action? 18. I`ve seen this snaps on different rigs, and I know they are on a strong i regulary jump with too. So I would not be that shure.... alex I don't now, i've never jumped Strong tandems. Could be. Don't Strongs generally have the integral 3 ring and student attachment ring hardware? Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  19. That's fu(ken shockin, mate! ... You didn't get the punter's face in shot once! Looks like a Sigma, the student harness at least, with the snaps on attachment risers Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  20. Enough. Cryptic initial post, off-topic one liner responses (including from the OP), thread-hijacking rehashing exisitng arguments AGAIN. No thanks. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

  23. If we are talking about tools for the job, then I think well-fitting booties can't be beaten. I'd much rather have leverage than drag. But I'm with the others, fly your body first. I have a scary video of my own from my early tandem days with a combination of baggy suit, a poor student position, not outflying the student compounded with a poor decision, that could have gone bad but luckily ended up well, that I should really get around to posting one day when I have the courage! I would also say probably best not to name your student in case they do a search on their name and come back to this thread and reach the opinion that you "did something wrong", but it's tricky since there's no other way to reference the video otherwise. Would you like me to download the video, rename it, then upload it to Skydivingmovies.com to remove the link? Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  24. There was a vid submitted at the Flyboyz film festival some years ago showing a rather lowish jump from the 206 with a base rig at a now defunct dz "near" the former SLT at Beckwourth, Ca. The vid in it's entirety was absolutely hilarious. Wish I knew where to get a copy. The Bastard Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  25. I know it should be all about the student (although I am with Steve a little bit in that sometimes it can be boring, I've sat in with family and friends watching the video where they have lost interest after watching 30 seconds of their nearest and dearest doing nothing, despite prompting), but sometimes I just can't help doing the "dog with it's head out of the car window" look Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
