  1. Any Brits got their DVD yet? I've not :'-( Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  2. So if I visit the UK to jump, I have to purchase a BPA membership for $300.00 in order to jump? In the text you quote it says it is possible to get a 1 month temp membership. I doubt that will be $300.00 Correct. Currently £30.95 (although due to be reset on saturday). So about $60. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

  7. Thanks guys. I've had a couple of offers for some database space so I think I'll be okay. Might take me a couple of weeks to get it back up though. And it's back! It actually turned out to only be about 50 MB of space and not as prohibitive as I thought to host ($6 a month for the extra space), so I'm hosting it myself. Thanks for the offers of space guys. Enjoy! Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

  9. No, they are talking about Mr. O'Mara (hence the screen name). Mike Spurgeon is still jumping it would seem. This article popped up about him receently, Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  10. No, actually. :) The beginning is here, in 1988: ftp://ftp.afn.org/skydive/rec.skydiving.archives/ Someone should maybe talk to these guys about this, because the Skydive! Archive site is down now, and there's no telling how long the ftp site will last. It would be a shame to lose the history if someone has a place to store it. (Note: I've got the whole mess downloaded, but that's not the same thing. And I haven't bothered to get the other stuff, like the dropzone reviews.) archive.org has the Skydive! Archive here: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.afn.org/skydive/ ...but the posts from the the ftp site aren't collected, although the posts from '93 to '96 are: http://web.archive.org/web/20020501075208/www.afn.org/skydive/usenet/ Hey RhondaLea, I took the archives, put them in a searchable and threaded database, registered the domain name recskydiving.org and hosted it from home. I've since moved to an external host who's database space is a bit more frugal and it would cost me about $20 a month to host the data. Does anyone have a spare 150 MB of SQL Server space to spare (I guess it could be MySql with a bit of conversion)? Rest assured, the old stuff is archived somewhere! 13. doing only one backloop may be the challenge, post the video If I pull it off...or heck if I just get some good or "exciting" video trying...I'll definitely post it. Cheat it by doing the backloop off the door. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

  16. This reply is all horseshit. Not necessarily directed at Billy but unless you can counter a statement with reason, replying in this way adds nothing to the discussion and is not welcome. Likewise calling people pricks and scumbags. Rise above it people. Be better than them. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  17. Interesting differences between your 8-way 'speed star' competition and our 10-way. (USA's). 1) Your 8-way only has to do 7 grips to complete? What, does someone have a hand missing? Or is your 'speed star' a bit different than ours (open grip)? Yeah, it doesn't have to be a star. Can be any formation. So you could have one person who has been gripped but doesn't have a grip. Yeah, we still humm it low on our guttergear in the motherland. Maybe we'll up it when we start seeing squares. I questioned that too. Looking at the previous years scores I assumed it was a mistake and should have been 35 seconds but I didn't get an answer about that. Hadn't noticed that. Not sure the judges did either? Not sure I'd call it fast! Here's the video from my team which took silver. The competition isn't taken very seriously I'm afraid. The teams that took part in the 8-way FS nationals didn't compete (more down to time commitments rather than anything else as they are held on different weekends. I took part because I was up there filming 2-way CF rotations as well) Then can join in with the flatties or they can enter a whole 8-way and compete head down if they wish?! 18. Saimco, Sorry, the like was wrong in my post, I have corrected it and here it is again with the rules http://www.bpa.org.uk/nationals02/8%20Way%20Speed%20Rules%202007%20-%20Final%20Version.doc. No, there is no grip/no show on exit. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

  21. Wow. Didn't know that. That was one of the two Twin Otters I did my AFF out of at Skydive City in 1998 when it was Freefall rather than Desert Express. I did my first four way out of that aircraft! Didn't realised it was historic. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
