Billy, I'm sorry to hear you came down with pneumonia My best advice is don't take it lightly and stay on top of it! I just got over it about 6 weeks ago; it lasted a month, and wasn't pretty. At first I didn't think it was all that serious, but quickly changed my mind...and was quite concerned for sometime. It got to the point that I couldn't have a conversation without coughing every 2 seconds - literally. I was told numerous times that I sounded like I was on my death bed. Bellow is a portion of an e-mail I wrote to someone seeking their advice. I hope you don't go through what I did. I wish you a quick recovery! The other thing I forgot to mention is this - when I first began to try and arch, although my chest & back had some flexibility and would arch a tad, my ass & hips would shoot up like a rocket. Thus it wasn't much of an arch after all. That was a few months ago... Now, my pelvis is staying glued to the floor, & I'm able to arch with no effort whatsoever (whereas before I had to put every ounce of strength into arching, & couldn't keep my pelvis down if my life depended on it.) What Divot said... Well, that and a little bit of everything really. 1 day I work my upper body (chest, shoulders, biceps, triceps, lower back, upper back, abs) - the next day I do my legs. I switch between the 2 routines every other day & go to the gym 5 days a week. Typically, I use a variation of 5 machines per workout, and depending on what I'm doing, I lift between 50-75 lbs. 4 Sets of 20 reps. I work my abs every day though; crunches - 4 sets of 50 reps. Just start workingout; 3 times a week is enough to start off with. Most people have no idea how to lose weight; eat small meals & snacks 4-6 times a day and do light strength training, then do 10-14 minutes of cardio - in that order. You'll see where that'll get you, trust me...
-
I don't know if any of you are interested to know this, but I''m pretty happy about it - so thought I'd share. Although my workingout began to pay off some time ago, it is really starting to shine through now. I definitely am continuing to build muscle on my entire body; most of it is on my upper body, but my legs are starting to show definition as well. As a result, my arch is really, REALLY improving - I'm very excited!

John, that is 1 hell of a road trip! I would really love to do something like this before I die. Dialogue/commentary between Divot, Twardo & myself - "from your first Oshkosh when the three of us were riding to or from one of

Point well taken, thank you for pointing that out.

Okay, maybe not "of a lifetime" - but this would be a kick ass trip to take! At current gas prices, gas itself would only cost [less than] $700; as far as other expenses - I'm thinking $10,000-$15,000 & 2 months time. I really want to do this sometime in my life! http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=Chicago+IL&daddr=Denver+Co+to:cOVINGTON+wa+to:San+diego+Ca+to:Las+Vegas+NV+to:Eloy+AZ+to:Miami+FL+to:Chicago,+Illinois&hl=en&geocode=&mra=ls&sll=36.527295,-101.074219&sspn=42.372578,93.164063&ie=UTF8&ll=38.341656,-87.099609&spn=41.444041,93.164063&z=4 Dialogue/commentary between Divot, Twardo & myself - "from your first Oshkosh when the three of us were riding to or from one of

Well, I May have my friend, Martin come along with me, which would make the drive easier - but I still wouldn't mind if I had to do it all on my own. Either way, it's going to be fun. Just 1 thing....I've had no problems with my new [to me] car (runs like new) since I got it last year, but I'm thinking that it has 151,000 miles on it I should probably get a tuneup before the trip. 1 mechanic told me $200 for a tuneup; is that an accurate/fair price? I'm directionally challenged and will go whatever way Mr Garmin tells me to. That said, I could customize the route anyway I want and make stops anywhere. The default route is Chicago to Indianapolis, IN (I-65/I-70) down to Louisville, Ky (I-65 S), down to Chattanooga, TN (I-24 E), through downtown Atlanta (I-75 S ) through Macon. Then finally I-75 to I-475 to Valdosta to the Florida turnpike. Then down I-4 to Orlando. From there I'll go down to Deltona. I was originally going to fly down to Orlando, and be at Zhills for new years, but now it looks like I'm making the flight a road trip - and driving by myself. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking I could drive the first 12 hours straight through, sleep 4 hours, than finish off the remaining 6 hours. It'll cost me less than $200 to drive there and back, I wont have to depend on a rental for a set amount of time & will be able to go wherever I please when I please. I'm thinking I'll visit Zhills for new years, then drive down to Sebastian, and get a few minutes in the Orlando tunnel. On the 1 hand, some would think that there's no sense in going to a DZ if you're not able to jump yet, and to some extent that's true, but I've learned that there's a lot more to skydiving than just jumping. Hoping it'll be a fun trip.

I was just being funny and joking when I sent you that text. I wasn't planning on getting in trouble, and glad I didn't. Nice to know though that if I needed help in some way you would do what you could. Thank you, Divot.

If you've had anything stolen from your bags at LAX
RALFFERS replied to LisaH's topic in The Bonfire
Whenever I travel anywhere I just pack all I need in a large carry-on. All that means is I have to laundry more often if I'm staying long; a minor inconvenience in comparison to having your stuff stolen. So, is this gonna be the new trend now? Prices drop in the winter and skyrocket in the summer? Where is this prognosis coming from? (honest question.) Dialogue/commentary between Divot, Twardo & myself - "from your first Oshkosh when the three of us were riding to or from one of

It's $1.76 to $1.81 around my area.... that's still not cheap enough for me :-) I WISH I was in your area! That's dirt-cheap!! Around here it's between $2.00-$2.30 (I'm not complaining); that's cheap for Chicago... If it ever gets down to $1.50 I'm going to be a real happy camper - happy happy, joy joy even...
