Furthering Medical Trauma Reserch one soldier at a time!
millertimeunc replied to cliffwhite's topic in Speakers Corner
what did the rest of the country do to NOT deserve the same treatment as the military? (insofar as health care goes) Besides put their asses on the line and waive such fundamental freedoms as search and seizure, the right to quit their jobs at will, etc? You could almost say that we're giving up some of our most important basic rights for free heath care. Wait...that sounds familiar, where have I seen that before... Carolina, of course. That's the only kind! (dons flame suit) The best things in life are dangerous.

Actually, we DO get a lot of the same treatment as civilians. There's no "magical super badass army medicine" that we get just for being in the military. Most of the stuff that gets taken care of in house is very basic, i.e. physicals, dental cleanings, immunizations, and some pharmaceuticals. You'd be surprised how many referrals there are to civilian doctors for the bigger ticket items. The best things in life are dangerous. -
I held the door for someone yesterday, and I'm thinking about hosting a barbecue next week. Can I have my prize, too? The best things in life are dangerous.

Actually, I'm at Altus. I'm doing a lot of this stuff long distance, but I have some family local to the build site for the face to face stuff. It works out pretty good!

Absolutely, wouldn't do it any other way! The best things in life are dangerous.

Are your driving skills above average?
millertimeunc replied to Belgian_Draft's topic in Speakers Corner
"Near miss"? They use that term in aviation as well, but doesn't it really mean you hit them? I mean, you nearly missed them! ...and I am an excellent driver. The best things in life are dangerous. -
One of the things which gives me peace of mind is that the company I'm dealing with has done quite a bit of business with other pilots in my squadron, and they came very highly recommended. That's actually how I was referred to them. My thinking was that if they had had any unpleasant dealings with any of the guys in my unit in even the smallest way, word would have spread. By building the house, it looks like I'll avoid a lot of the headaches associated with buying. One good aspect of it is that I simply told the building company what I was willing to pay, and they came back with several options within my price range. The one I'm about to commit to will leave me with enough money leftover to get some pretty nice upgrades (granite counter tops, stainless appliances, and a few others). All I can say is WOW, it makes my brain hurt! I'm planning on building a home near Tampa, and there are a lot more factors to consider than I ever thought. Any advice from others out there who've done something similar? The best things in life are dangerous.

don't worry bolas, he's in the air force... There's nothin' dangerous about the air force... Nothing dangerous about the Air Force? Apparently, you don't know which rickety old plane I fly. Trust me, it's plenty dangerous. The best things in life are dangerous.

Yet another reason to tax the rich more

You could say the same for the one who started this ridiculous thread. The best things in life are dangerous. -
I know they're complicated, but here's a quote which sums up my view on the situation: Calvin- "Girls are weird" Hobbes- "I like 'em anyway!" The best things in life are dangerous.

Ummm...she's Mormon...and Amish...and Catholic, too, or whatever combination of the above will keep you away from her. And she also has a crazy overprotective brother. The best things in life are dangerous.

Someone mentioned Air Force mess dress, so I thought I'd post a UPT graduation pic with my brother and sister. Millertime24 is on the left, I'm on the right, and my sister's up front. Mess dress is surprisingly comfortable!

"What would you say...you DO here?!?" "I'm sure he could help me, i mean he helped Carol with her weight problem. Peter, she's anorexic. ...Well yeah...the guy's really good." -Both from Office Space The best things in life are dangerous.

It's your type that I like hearing on the radio when I'm flying. It's also funny to hear some trainee saying "Uh, Moon 28, uh...turn left heading of ah..." followed quickly by an irritated controller saying "DISREGARD, Moon 28, turn right heading 350, descend and maintain 9000." Cracks me up every time. Thanks for what you do!

Health Care Policy and the Village Idiots
millertimeunc replied to funjumper101's topic in Speakers Corner
That means 56% of registered voters are idiots, with 44% of those being strongly idiotic. I'm sure glad that Big Brother knows what's better for me than I do. The best things in life are dangerous. -

Eagle, nice plane! I'll be sure to say hey if I hear your callsign out there! Just remember, you don't kick ass without tanker gas. Wally, sorry about the late reply. I've got 4 more rides to graduate, and they're cramming us through as fast as possible and I haven't been near a computer (I'll be flying all weekend and checking Monday ). Can ya jump a 135? Well, sure, I guess, but you wouldn't want to. Something about the airspeed, if you think a King Air is fast on jump run... The best things in life are dangerous.

Update, We had our assignment night last week, and I'm off to fly the 135R at MacDill AFB! Tampa, here I come!!! The best things in life are dangerous.

Yeah, I was referring to the BE-400 and the MU-300 ratings. As far as the jet, I like the fact that it's got some long legs, but I don't like the way it tries to dutch roll you all the way down final when you disengage the yaw damper. The best things in life are dangerous.
