I took my daughter out to the DZ when she was 13, She learned to pack and was planning on coming back regularly on weekends and making some extra money. It did take very long at all for to see what a bad idea this was. Plain and simply, The DZ is an Adult playground. It is not Child friendly. It would unreasonable of me to expect others to watch their language and/or their subject matter and their behavior while my child is around. And the language, Behavior and subject matter of many conversations were completely inappropriate for 13 year old girl in my opinion. I think the same would apply for this web site since it is pretty much a Virtual DZ. -

What happens when you take about 20 or so Drunken Atlanta Skydivers, add 50 to 100 of Atlanta’s Hottest Strippers and Throw in some of the most talented shooter girls on the planet?? Well generally at least a few of us get tossed out at some point while the rest of us point at them and laugh as we order a couple more rounds from the shooter girls is what usually happens. The next big Atlanta Strip Club Outing is in the works. This time we are actually giving you peeps time to plan, buy plane tickets, arrange bail and settle your estates. September 15!! This time will same as the last time.. Meet at the Mexican Restaurant next to the Pony at 8:00pm. Some of us will be getting rooms at the Hotel right there so we don’t have to even think about designated drivers (I think last time it was about $50 for the night, Split that 4 ways and no worries) Those that have been on one of these outings before know how much fun it is, Those that haven’t.. Come check it out. Who is in this time?? -
Dont worry.. I was plenty Rude and Obnoxious before I decided to try to quit smoking and plan to stay that way long after I quit. Dude.. for 30+ years I have put up with women that get cranky every damn month. This is my one chance to have a perfectly Valid reason to be just as damn cranky and irritable right back at them. You damn straight I am going to take full advantage of it!! Now I am sitting here thinking of pictures of nice Fuzzy little bunny rabbits and cute kitty cats I can tape to the targets when I get to the Shooting range today. Just the thought of it is making me feel better right now. And for those that just are not quite bright enough to catch it in the original post.. There was a little tongue in Cheek there. I don’t really intend to kill anyone today unless they give me a damn good reason. (Besides.. Skymama gave me permission to be cranky as I want to be today and even promised me a spanking if I was, so uh.. Bite me!!)

I thought we were going to be discrete about that.

Basically.. It is a Stupid move. you have a 20. The odds of improving that by splitting are horribly against you. Basically you have the second possible best hand in Black jack that will win the vast majority of the time.. And then you split this and ruin the sequence of the cards for the remaining players. No two ways about it. IT is a very Stupid thing to do and WILL cost you money in the long run. The only exception to this is if you are counting cards and are more than half way through a +10 or better shoe and the dealer has a 5 up. Then (and only then) is it sort of OK to split the tens.. And you will still probably loose money over time. The only thing more stupid than Splitting 10`s in a Casino is Bluffing into a Dry Side-pot while there is an All-in player in a Poker tournament.

Planning on taking my HK 45 to the range soon as I get off work and venting my frustration on some helpless Paper. I just really hope no one pisses me off between here and there. I am starting to think that maybe I should have left the toys at home today.
-
So if I happen to come across as a little more Rude, Obnoxious and Offensive than usual.. Please feel free to Kiss my ASS. Starting day two without a Cigarette and I still haven’t killed anyone.... Yet. But the idea is growing more appealing by the minute. Now excuse me while I step outside and growl at passing cars for a while.

OK.. Im a little slow today. I had to read that about 4 times before I got it.

I gotta throw in another Vote for this form of therapy. Sometimes nothing works better. For me, It is either Violent Femmes - First Album\Add it up or Concrete Blonde - Still in Hollywood Turn the Stereo Loud and Proud and just go for it. Pretty soon all is better.

Should B liscense be changed

That depends on who is giving the Course. When I did my course (3 Full Days long) out of the 7 taking the course, Two did not pass first time around. One missed a potentially Fatal Gear error on his Evaluator/Student and not sure about the other. I have heard about "Coach Courses" where everyone sits around for a couple hours and gets everything signed off but that was definitely not the case in the course I took. I still think one of the biggest problems with the "Coach" rating is the way it is beign used. I remember after completing AFF having many experienced jumpers willing to go make a jump with me. My DZO highly discouraged Solo`s. He said you dont learn much on a Solo because you dont have a good point of reference. Since the inception of the coach rating, Resent AFF grads have two choices at many DZ`s.. Do solos or Pay a "Coach". Im not sure I would have made it through 25 jumps if those were my only two options. Fortuanately for me, That was not the case back then. I was able to go on fun 2 and 3 ways with qualified jumpers after graduating AFF that didnt feel they needed to get paid for doing so. I wish the USPA had a "Coach" rating for people who are qualified to TEACH and maybe a different rating for people that qualified to Jump with AFF grads. You don’t need a Thousand Jumps or be a great teacher to be qualified to go out and lay base for a newbie on a two way so they can practice basic skills. All the TEACHING or Coaching in the world is not going to take the place of actually practicing it in the air. To really practice, A good point of reference in the air is a huge help. And AFF grads shouldn’t be forced to pay 100 Jump wonders to do this for them. the sad reality is that is what is happening at many DZ`s. Someone with 15 or 20 jumps under their belt just wants go out and do a Fun Simple two way should be able to find someone to do this with and not have to pay a 100 jump Coach to do this. -
Who was your 1st friend on dz.com that you didn't know in person?

First person I really talked to online here was Kelel01. She invited me to visit her DZ while Rome was temporarily closed. I went down there and she hid from me. First Friend I made from here was probably Skymonkeyone. Chuck came up to me at the first Dublin Boogie and said hey arent you that new guy on DZ.com that was looking for a rental Rig. Then he offered to take me up and get anything I needed signed off on my A card. -
My Patented "Two-way Rodeo Dirt-Ball Hop&Pop". At my Home DZ, Hop&Pops (Really just a Lower Pass) are usually at 6000 or a little higher. Plenty of time to play and only play half price. The Jump: Roll out the Door in a Spoon position, Rear Spoon wraps their legs around front spoon and keeps their body close as possible. Front Spoon curls up in to a tight a ball. It gets to spinning pretty damn quick. Nice tumbling, Spinning Mess. See how long you can stay on. Usually breaks apart by 4000/3500. Track away and pull.

Should B liscense be changed
Thanatos340 replied to valcore's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The coach Rating is one of the misunderstood and misused things in skydiving I think. It has poorly implemented, misunderstood and misused since its inception. I am one of those 200 jump wonder coaches but would never charge for "Coaching". The only reason I got the rating was so that I could jump with AFF grads. I do feel completely comfortable doing basic two way drill dives with AFF grads. I dont think AFF Grads should have to PAY someone to go out and lay Base for them to work on Heading Controll, Fall Rate and other basic skills. When the USPA made the Coach rating Mandatory for anyone jumping with AFF Grads but not yet A Licensed is when this whole thing got screwed up. DZO`s immediately saw this as a way to try to extract more money from students. This move has hurt this sport considerably because now after spending up $1,200 to $2,000 to Graduate AFF, New jumpers are looking at having still to spend $80 to $100 per jump if they want to jump with someone else. The end result.. Look at the numbers. The sport is shrinking. (Yes, There are other contributing factors but this is one of the main reasons in my opinion.) The USPA did help this situation slightly when they changed the rule to allow D licensed Jumpers also to jump with these pre-"A" jumpers but it was a little late. DZO`s have already changed the business model to have "COACHES" available and many now require certain Number of "Coached" jumps before you can get your A license. All this has done is to put the A License and Cost of getting started simply out of reach for many potential Jumpers.
