I did a study to compare use of the word "dude" at exit point versus normal conversation. I found that the test subjects, myself included, are up to 10 times more likely to use the word "dude" at exit point than in normal conversation. An interesting side observation, which I haven't yet quantified, is that use of the word "dude" during a mission is directly proportional to proximity to the exit point. Somehow, I think throwing cannabinoids in the mix would dramatically skew the results of my study in favor of "dude" usage.

Did everything else about the PCA seem normal?

It's the first story in the far right column under Watch Free Video. It is another John Agnos story. It has some red bull jumper's stock footage in the beginning.

What kind of delay did you take? Go stowed?

Wow, your standards must be pretty low Just kidding. It was nice to meet you too. I'm sure I'll run into you again somewhere along the way.

Cold swimming pools aren't the only things that cause shrinkage.

One time I stashed my Perigee Pro/BlackJack after a jump and when I went to pack I pulled out a Gargoyle/Fox. Oops, grabbed the wrong stash bag. Sorry, buddy. Nice souvenir though.

Mark Kruse from Cross Keys made that rig. Luckily he was working the same shift as me, so when she came to me for a gear check I let him do it. I didn't even know where to start looking for a pin!

The Washington Monument is (apprx.) 555' 5" tall and 55' wide at the base.

THAT'S GREAT. GO AND DAY BLAZE OUR BEST OBJECT AND PLASTER PICTURES ALL OVER THE NET. ETHICS BE DAMNED. GUESS WE WON'T BE HITTING THAT AGAIN ANY TIME SOON.

OK, we're on the same page. I thought you were talking about more than Bridge Day.

That's a pretty sweeping statement. While it's true in this context because the NPS owns the land, I think if we had a privately or state owned landing area the federal government would have no say about jumping activities whatsoever. Yay 10th amendment! Thoughts?

Ray, you are a wise man, but I think you got him all wrong. Sure, Mr. T may wear a lot of jewelry and have a seemingly "bad" attitude. But, the positives far outweigh the negatives. He is a caring sensitive man who is a friend to children everywhere and loves his mother. He speaks his mind with intelligence and a unique sense of humor. I think if we told him the whole story about the NPS, he'd have a thing or two to say to them. He is a man of the people and I think he will be right at home with all the fine West Virginia citizens on the bridge, many of whom raise their children on A-Team re-runs. As far as him being humiliated by hanging with us... he is a humble man, and humble men cannot be humiliated by mingling with the common folk. Furthermore, we are spending Skinflicka's money, so if it's a big bust, no one loses, right?

Now that we have Nick's ticket just about covered, why don't we all chip in to bring another icon whom we'd all like to meet to Bridge Day. I vote for Mr. T. Being that Mr. T is a celebrety we should fly him in first class and I hereby pledge $500 of Skinflicka's money. Can someone steal his credit card for me? "I pity the foo who don't pull on time Sucka!" (rainy days suck)

Yes it will. And by the way, Skydive Delmarva has wireless too.

Buying Gear on DZ.com - Need advice
gweeks replied to NewGuy2005's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Here are a few questions to get you started: Does the rig have an RSL and AAD? -You will need both to jump at USPA dropzones until you get your A license. How many jumps on each piece of equipment and when was each piece made? -Always nice to know. How heavy and how tall was the original owner? -For sizing purposes How long before the AAD is due for its 4 year service or its batteries have to be changed (used gear)? -You're looking at $70-$90 for batteries and I think close to $200 for the 4 year service, so if either of those dates are coming up, it should be reflected in the price. Is the rig free fly friendly? -If you want to get into free flying, there are some rigs that are much safer for it. Generally these are the newer rigs with velcro-less flaps. Basically you don't want the increased wind speed to cause a pin, riser, or pilot chute to come out prematurely. What material is the main made out of? -There are two main types of fabric used for parachutes these days: F111 and ZP. I'd recommend a ZP canopy if you plan to keep it for a while. F111 lasts for about 700 jumps and the flare power slowly degrades over that time. ZP canopies last for thousands of jumps, have a higher resale value, and generally have a better flare. Does the rig have a collapsable pilot chute and slider? -These are just things that are nice to have. Talk to your instructors about what size and type of canopy you should be jumping. Good luck -
Put the hotel on a cliff and you could get three objects on one jump

Free Canopy Skills Coaching with Video Debrief
gweeks replied to gweeks's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I will be there to help video. Hopefully someone captures one of my landings too. I've been working on accuracy lately and Mike Davidson's the expert on that. -
Find the tower here. If the "Center of AM Array" field is blank then it's probably not an AM.

Free Canopy Skills Coaching with Video Debrief
gweeks replied to gweeks's topic in Events & Places to Jump
On September 25th at Skydive Delmarva Safety and Training Advisor Mike Davidson will be giving free video debriefs of landing patterns and flare technique. Video is one of the best tools to refine your canopy technique. Many people are surprised to see what they are actually doing under canopy, and often a few simple pointers can dramatically increase performance. Volunteers to help video landings would be appreciated. -
http://www.w3schools.com/ is really good. There are a lot of tutorials and examples. The topics that will help you are Learn SQL, Learn ASP, and Learn ADO under Server Scripting.
