Yea, but let's be fair. A girl brought them up this time. "Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. Tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I."
-
No offense, but maybe you guys should get a good game of quake3 or unreal tournament, or something similar going. That way you could still blast the crap out of each other, but it would be a little bit more fun for all involved.

- bump - The subject name is just too catchy to let it die yet. "Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. Tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I."

I haven't read the books either. I tried once but they are just too slow. I am going to see this movie because the director is really cool. He did "Dead Alive" and "Heavenly Creatures" and "The Frighteners" among others. It will be fun to watch. "Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. Tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I."

That's not "Matrix-ian," that's a creationism philosophy, the only one that makes scientific sense, for that matter. "Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. Tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I."

One could argue the same thing about a video... "Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. Tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I."

Actually, there are certain states that practice that form of tort law as well. While some still go on the basic priciple that if you were at all responsible for what happen, regardless of how minutely, you cannot recover. "Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. Tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I."

Maybe someone could get peircing that would enable them to not have to deal with all that "harness" crap. Just have the biggest ring of the 3 ring system be the piercings . . .

Not sure about this, but I think you can actually get a monthly subscription to certain "publications" devoted to that very thing, Aggie. "Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. Tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I."

I bet that would be funnier if I had speakers and could hear the audio part of it.

. . . and make sure you post videos from however many different angles . . . "Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. Tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I."

Need to post that video on here... "Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. Tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I."

I wouldn't go around bragging about "interest free loans" from you parents too much. The IRS has a different name for that: a gift. Which requires you parents and possibly you to pay taxes on that money. Because their definition of a loan is that it has to have a reasonable interest rate included. How cool is it to be in a sport where "slow" is 120 mph... "Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. Tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I."

I can't believe that I am being this techical about something so inanely stupid, but it seems to me that with all that fur, the dog would fall slower. So the slack in the leash wouldn't work very well.

My opinion on this probably has little if any merit, since I only currently have 17 jumps, but I tend to agree with PhreeZone. I did my first 12 jumps on the huge manta 290's and then bought a used rig with a raider 220. I only notice a slight difference between the two in handling and landing (my wingloading is .85:1), but I think it would have been stupid of me to have gotten a canopy that was any smaller. I have had all stand up landing except for my last one, where I flared about 10 feet too high. As soon as I realized this, i let up on the toggles which of course gave me a big downward boost of speed, at which point I immediately buried the toggles. It evened out fine, but about 2 feet lower than I would have liked, giving me a nice soft, but rather swift slide landing on my butt. Had I had a smaller canopy, it wouldn't have been as gentle with me, and I probably wouldn't have been able to get that second flare all the way down before hitting the ground. All that said, I think every student is going to have at least a few of those embarrassing landings, and as long as you aren't overloading your canopy for your experience level, those occurrences will just be embarrassing and not painful as well. Finally the station wagon/ferrari analogy is a good one. Sure you can learn to drive a ferrari first, but you will be learning the driving process backwards. You will be learning all the nuances of driving a high performance car, which will invariably take your concentration away from the basics of just driving, which you will still have to eventually learn, possibly at a much higher price. So the joke goes something like this: Q: Can blind people skydive? A: Yes, it's the seeing eye dog you're going to have a problem with. Now that joke by itself is moderately funny, but what really got me laughing was my visualizing actually trying to push a dog out of say a C-182. The phrase "next to impossible" comes to mind. Imagine the impending struggle between 2 or 3 skydivers and a full size dog that does not want to get anywhere close to the door and all that wind. All that action in the tiny area that we all know as the inside of a C-182. Use your imaginations folks. "Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. Tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I."

The pictures on that link are gone. "Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. Tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I."

You know what they say, " Don't knock it til you've tried it." "Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. Tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I."

Maybe you need to prebreath pure oxygen for an hour or so before each jump. "Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. Tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I."

I have a Vector 2 rig, and have been told that it probably isn't a good idea to freefly it. I am wondering if there are mods that can be made to it so that it will be more freefly friendly. I am still on student status, and still nowhere close to where I will be ready to start learning freefly, but I am just planning for the future. Who knows, by the time I get around to learning to freefly I may have a new rig. Anyway, if you are familiar with the Vector 2 and freeflying let me know your thoughts. Nero, is a better program. Get rid of that crappy-ass EZ Cd Creator. Secondly, I never copy CD's "on the fly" for that very reason. One little spike in what your processor decides to prioritize, and you can just watch that buffer go all the way down to 0% and underrun. Then you have a nice shiny new coaster. My advice would be to check your hardware profile for your burner and make sure there are now weird conflicts, and then try using Nero. In the CD Copy menu, there is a little box that you can uncheck so that it doesn't copy "on the fly". It will read the whole cd into a buffer (hard drive "scratch" area, for you Premiere buffs) and then once the whole CD is essentially on your hard drive it will then write it to the cd-r. In my experience, the write process is much less volatile doing it this way. I can even play mp3's while I write using this method. Don't bother converting to mp3's that is too much work. EZ Cd creator is just an inferior product that seems a little bit more user friendly but just isn't as good as Nero. Hope that helped. Good luck.

Well, based on what you said, skybytch, I am going to look into getting an aviator, because it looks more comfortable than the velocity, and there are a few more color options. It is a little bit more expensive, but if I didn't want to spend money on expensive gear, I probably got into the wrong sport. Thanks, Scott
