I have 2 copies. Read it in junior high school. Read it again in high school. Again in college. And again earlier this year. But Ender's game is only the first book. The other 5 books in that series are just as good, and I own all of them and have read them all multiple times as well. 0 (Number of times I had to ride the plane down at Hinckley this weekend):11:0 Spent the weekend and a nice chunk of change at Skydive Chicagoland this weekend, taking advantage of their 14 dollar jump weekend. Freeflew all weekend except for 2 bigway tracking dives. (Never even pulled out my RW suit.) My freefly skills are coming along nicely.

Yes you can. If we meet and are talking the kind of questions that I would ask about would be along the lines of: How many jumps you got? Every had a cutaway? What wingloading do you usually jump? Where do you jump at? Wanna do a jump? All questions that you could easily answer that I might ask someone, that a tandem passenger probably couldn't answer. If you are talking to someone who had done a tandem once it's a pretty simple conversation: Skydiver: So you did a tandem huh? Tandem: Yea. Skydiver: Pretty cool huh? Tandem: Yea, it was amazing. Skydiver: Ummm... [looking in the general direction of manifest] I think I'm on a 5 minute call. See ya. Two skydivers talking generally ends up with a lot unsaid, because they keep going off on tangents and remembering something else, and then get cut off because it's time to get on the plane.

When I hear someone say something like, "She's a skydiver" in my mind that means that she jumps on a regular basis. Not having just done a tandem. But that is just what I envision and I don't consider it a hard a fast rule by any means. But if someone says to me, "Hey I'm a skydiver." I would expect to be able to talk with them about different aspects of the sport. Not start asking questions and get a response like, "Oh, I don't know anything about that, I just did a tandem once."

So apparently Hinckley is having a $14 jump weekend on saturday and sunday of this weekend. I am thinking about going, however I am not sure about sleeping arrangements (assuming I will get a little sleep). Anyone else going to be there and/or have any ideas or suggestions in this regard. Obviously I am hoping to figure something out that is free so that I can spend more money jumping.

Let's see if I can beat the likes of billvon and quade to the answer on this one. Because she will be jumping from so high, there is significantly less air at that altitude (one of the reasons why she will be wearing a space suit). Since there is less air, there is less resistance to counter the effects of gravity. This results in her falling much faster during the first half of her dive. As she gets closer to earth the amount of air hitting her will increase which will slow her down to close to the regular skydiver terminal velocity. Damn you skybytch. Beat me. Maybe you could post your videos in a less proprietary format. MOV movies require that you have a whole special program just for viewing that one kind of movie. MPEGs or WMVs are much simpler to view. Just a suggestion.
