I didn't say that my idea was perfect with no flaws to be worked out. It was just an idea, a "jumping off" point, if you will. All these techicalities you keep brings up are just that, techicalities. That's why there is a whole process to getting events into the Olympics. You can't tell me that should the "process" actually take place and the technicalities get worked out, that it wouldn't be a safer and more media and spectator friendly way to have the different freefall-style competitions. Plus it seems to me that it would act as sort of a buffer between actual skydiving activities and the severe scrutiny of the general populace. Some people don't want freefall competitions (in any form) to have that much worldwide attention. Those people are going to argue against anything that might make that possible, regardless of how much the risks are minimized or how it would be done. There's nothing wrong with that attitude. I was just suggesting a possible compromise between the reasonable dangerous and inaccessible activity of skydiving and a competition that might actually thrive in an Olympic environment. Besides, imagine some of the sweet endorsements you could get if you were the gold medal freeflier. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

Can you not freefall outdoors too? It wouldn't be a "tunnel flying" event, it would be a freefall one. The tunnel would just be the Olympic facility for it. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
  6. Could someone post that pic to the forum for all us people who might not be able to access that particular web address? thanks a bunch. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

  8. Forever. He made the decision to do that and got caught. That's part of his past and he can't erase it. Just because the justice system says he has paid his debt, doesn't mean that we can pretent that it never happened, it just means that legally, he has been punished for it. I love it when people make "factual" statements that are simply impossible to back up. Some people make better decisions with their lives than others. It's as simple as that. Sort of missing my point, I think. The teams can train by skydiving, should they so choose. It's just the competition that has to be in a tunnel. It would still be a freefall competition, not specifically a windtunnel one.

Well they could just call it a freefall event, and the wind tunnel would just be how they make it easier and more standard to judge. On the other hand I bet there are wind tunnels in at least 7 different countries. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
  11. It probably wouldn't be a problem. It just looks to me like the Cordura BOC gives the pilot chute more room to move around and shift it's shape, while if you have a nice and tight spandex one, it takes on the exact shape of your PC and doesn't let your PC move at all unless you or something is banging on it. I don't have any experience with cordura BOCs other that just seeing a few. But they look kind of "baggy", and I would personally prefer tight over baggy. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" Freeflying, RW, and Freestyle should be part of the Olympics. Just leave the skydiving out of it. Just have a high quality wind tunnel be part of the Olympic grounds. That would be better all around. Judges would be able to get multiple angles. The camera angles would always be the same (no blaming it on a screwed up camera flyer). Plus it would present a more static environment so that environmental issues wouldn't be as big of a concern ("The sun was in my eyes, it's not fair that I had to go during sunset"), because everything in the tunnel would be equal. This way they would also be able to make sure that every flyer had the exact same amount of time to do their routine, and no worries of low pulls. They don't hold the swimming contests in rivers and oceans, they build them a special facility in order to keep the playing field as level as possible. They could just do the same for the "flying" competitions. Am I the first person to suggest this? Seems like it would be a great way to get some of the skydiving discipline in the olympics without the issues of possible fatalities. Plus, after a few Olympics that would be that many more wind tunnels that are scattered around, which can't be bad for us. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
  14. I'm not sure I would want to freefly with a cordura BOC. Doesn't seem as secure to me. Just my opinion though. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
  15. It's not the press that is giving skydiving a bad image. It's those few stupid skydivers who make bad decisions, which gives the press something that is newsworthy. If you were a respectible person who ran a good business, there would be no reason to "dodge the press." "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
  16. Maybe, but it did record 36 seconds of free fall from 9500 ft. So who know... "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
  17. Well, I know I was tracking when I hit 93mph. I have no idea what he was doing at 91mph, but those birdman suits leave little other options than to track. Maybe it was just a bad jump for him. Hehe... "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
  18. Well, this weekend, I and 2 other people had a tracking contest. One was another low-time jumper like me and the other was a guy who has a birdman suit that he jumps every so often (not on this jump though). Anyway, toward the end of the jump it looked like I had gone farther than he had, but I couldn't really tell because we weren't flying parallel. Anyway on that jump I had an average fall rate of 93 mph (gotta love that Pro-Track). Later on I lent him my protrack to see how slow he could get (vertically) in his Birdman suit. When he came down it said that his average fallrate was 91 mph. I went almost as slow just tracking (with a jumpsuit) as he did with his birdman suit on. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" 21. Well, I heard this weekend that Relative workshops is increasing the price of their container's. Apperently distributors were notified of this sometime last week. I wonder if there have been any design changes or if they just decided that the current design was underpriced. Maybe both the girls decided on Harvard. Let me know if I am mistaken in what I heard.... "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
