  1. Last summer i had someone from that show email me about organizing naked jumps for a segment. we were gonna do it but the dz at the last minute decided not to since they didn't want that kind of pub. they had seen our club website that used to have a naked skydiving section from a former prez that did it a few years back. everybody wants to be naked and famous. blue skies Tomas
  2. Water would help you if you got something to break the surface tension...from what i understand that's what makes water seem like concrete at 120 mph. Personally, i don't know that by the time you realized you had a double total you'd have enough time to track to anything like water or a hillside or something. I'd just turn on my back and hope for the best (i wouldnt wanna see the ground coming up to get me). I would also think "man, if only i hadn't rushed the pack job" blue skies Tomas
  3. I agree wholeheartedly with Marc. Boobies are very nice. Skydiving is also very enjoyable. Very much so with good friends. Since it is getting colder, it being central IL and all, i am starting to think that Los Angeles sounds REALLY nice at the moment. Marc's mention of the protesters made me think of PCU when they, at the end, start chanting "we will not protest". PCU is just the poor man's Animal House. I am the sandwich i eat. blue skies Tomas
  4. Maybe they can get the flying saucer to replace the jet at Quincy! Now, how do you yell "5 right" and "cut" in alien? They prolly use GPS anyway.....
  5. I am also lucky enough to jump with a bunch of people that are WAY better than me, so I don't have to pay for coaching (freefly coaching is free at my dz). Its really nice because they are truly interested in jumping with me. This also helps because since people were great with me, i know what it feels like to be taught by people better and i will always be willing to do the same for people that aren't as good as i may be (even tho i can't say i have a lot to teach, every little bit helps!). THe way i look at it is that paid coaching is great if you can afford it cuz lets face it, you can jump with some of the best in our sport...like getting a private b-ball lesson from Jordan or Kobe. Still, a dz shouldn't give it's customers flak for helping each other out. On a side note, while i've learned a ton jumping with people who were coaching me, I've also learned a lot with people that are my skill level or worse that i wouldnt with the coach cuz on those dives you HAVE to fly good to stay with it! blue skies Tomas
  6. Hope you guys get good weather in Vandalia this weekend...I'm savin my cash for Chili party...I just hope it's above 50 degrees! blue skies Tomas
  7. Actually, Marc and I made a notice of something similar to that while watching Willing To Fly today...it was the sequence with Norman Kent's wife Freestyling....it had something wierd on the rig. at first we couldnt figure out what it was, but i think it's the reserve handle that is right around her waist as opposed to the regular spot. not exactly sure, tho. blue skies Tomas
  8. Hahahaha...a search of simviation for skydivers has Vandalia, IL -- Archway Skydiving Center....of course if it was REALLY accurate, it'd have our DZO landing students and me landing wayyyy off the DZ......
  9. Last I heard Enterprise required ya to be 21 to rent a car...good luck!
  10. Yeah they got stricter on the ID's here in Champaign since they caught a 12 year old or soemthign like that at Kam's last year. I go cuz my bro's girlfriend works there...free booze when i am with him there...aside from that, tho, the place sucks. Bub's is no longer there...they remodeled it and turned it into a place called Station something (it has a number, i can;'t remember which). essentially it is bub's, hollowed out completely to look like a warehouse with a bar in the middle. blue skies Tomas
  11. Lisa, finish my sentence. Finish your own damn sejktjatjrjtt.....
  12. "Hey, you could copyright the word "lazy" and open a school for lazy people... have an Atmospheric Slacker license or something..." no, Marc, that would require work.....
  13. To quote the impersonation of Sean Connery "The day is mine"...or ours. or something.
  14. I would never deny such a thing. I do not claim to have invented lazyness, but it was I who transcended it to an art. is it two saturdays from now yet? -Tomas
  15. Hey, i am south american...as such i am genetically predisposed to hate and be allergic to the cold..... i want to stay current this winter but i dont think i'll be jumping as much....till i get out to los angeles in Feb (still crossing my fingers on that one). blue skies Tomas
  16. The C gives you more time between jumps w/out worrying bout currency......
  17. Yeah i will....i think i need to take the tests for the b and the c licenses but that shouldnt be a problem. i also gotta do the nite jumps and probably do a couple more accuracy jumps. blue skies Tomas
  18. Yeah...i was just joking cuz i got about 250 jumps and only my A....the water training has been avoiding me!!! For example one time i was driving from Illinois to Indiana to do it at a DZ there and i forgot that Indiana doesn't do daylight savings time so it was an hour later there....nothing beats driving an hr to have something like that dawn on you where you turn around and come back..... oh well, i will do it someday....... blue skies Tomas
  19. Bugging Sam is fun....but i gotta say i like our Wed nites at teh White Horse better!!! Drunk skydivers are funny. blue skies Tomas
  20. tongue planted firmly in cheek-----"what is water training?"
  21. Congrats, dude!!! I hope to get to 400 sometime next year (bout 250 at the moment)..... I will now sit in my enviousness (is that a word?) of those that got to jump..... blue skies Tomas
  22. So it was nice down in Vandalia, eh? I was wishing i could jump all week long.....will be down therre for Chili party tho!!! blue skies Tomas
  23. Saturday morning....clear and sunny...warm...... OFF TO THE DZ!!! If i don't come back to the real world don't send anyone to get me!
  24. I learned to spot while jumping the cessna on student status (about 3 years ago)...graduated to the turbine and have spotted twice since then......
