  1. The actual point (as I uynderstand it) is that the people who committed transgressions were kept while the suspect of a felony walked. Why not keep the felony in the vault and release someone who comitted a transgression and already had been in the joint for a period of time instead? I see the problems with that kind of reasoning, but I understand it too. Besides, the difficulty is not in what would happen when Asshat is unarmed, but in what will happen when he is. Are you SURE you could pull that trigger? 3. Of course! As long as we can make it to the DZ before sunset, the jumping can continue. That's one of the advantages of a 182. The fact that the cabin is heated is another.

  7. Paying a packer is IMO a waste of money that can be put towards making that extra jump later on. At my DZ students pack their own gear (except when time constraints apply) from jump #1, and IMO that's a good thing. Personally, when packing speed became the limiting factor in the amount of jumps I made on a day, I started practicing on rainy sunday afternoons. Now I conservatively reckon I have almost twice as many packjobs then I have jumps - and I'm not even a packer. Only one or two of those packjobs I got payed for. I'll help any student pack if it means they can make an extra jump - but the lazy ones for whom packing is too much bother to learn, well. They can bloody well pay me. 9. I have twenty jumps on a Spectre 190, after which I changed to a Storm 190. First a demo (30 jumps) then my own (20 jumps). All are conservative estimates. The spectre had about 50-100 jumps on it and both Storms were brand new. I basically agree with what Skwrl is saying, but I'd like to add that the Storm is amazingly responsive to rear riser input, but has higher pressure on the fronts. I dunno about the glide angle, but the Storm loses a lot more altitude in turns. It somehow has a lot more forward speed than you'd expect if you're used to a spectre while it still seems to carry you a lot further (if that's even possible) - until the last ten, fifteen jumps I kept misjudging forward speed and overshooting my target by half a dropzone while I could land the spectre reasonably accurately from jump #1. Then again, accuracy has never been my strong suit. Maybe it's just a matter of a penny that dropped quicker when I was jumping the Spectre. Basically I had already decided to buy the Spectre when I demoed the Storm, just out of curiosity. It depends on what you want. I wanted a snappy canopy because I enjoy flying and canopy control and wanted a challenge suitable for my experience level. If a parachute is merely a way of getting to the earth relatively safely after doing your stuff, the Spectre is an excellent choice. The spectre in itself is a great canopy, had I not demoed the Storm I am certain that the Spectre would have kept me happy for several hundreds of jumps too. The storm is simply a bit more of a challenge at equal size and loading. In my newb opinion the Storm is not a replacement for the Spectre, but the logical next step. 11. I have been fortunate eneough not to have witnessed a lethal accident. But the snap of a bone is still sounding through my head and still gives me the shivers. A few weeks later I saw a student who had remembered that one "has to turn at 250 feet". Thing is, he already had turned into the wind and winds were near student limits. He crashed downwind into a field on the other side of the road with a marginal flare. The instructor who was on ground duty had two more first jump students in the air to worry about. Since I had just landed, it fell to me to take off my rig and run out to the student. He turned out to be unharmed - but those were the furthest 300 meters I have ever run. Docile and forgiving student canopy or not, I was certain I was going to see my first fatality then and there... 13. +1. IMO this goes for ANY skydiver. For some things you simply don't need to be an instructor - merely sensible. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

  16. :4:1 4 Launched a 4-way exit from a 182 with Pieter, Frits and Bart, which went all over the place. As we were jumping from six we never had a prayer of linking up again but I for one just couldn't stop laughing after the formation had exploded. Frits was falling away from me on his back with Pieter cannoning down after him and Bart spinning away to my right. While it was my first such exit from that type of plane, the beer was in fact owed by Pieter for achieving his B-licence. For the rest I managed to get in three H&P's, one from six and two from 3.5k meaning I got stuck at 199 jumps total. 1: because of the pictures ever taken of me since having all my own gear. Thanks Nathalie... "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

  19. When I was playgn with my little brother at the swimming pool, this incredibly hot girl suddenly approaches me to tell me that... her friend fancies me. Said friend turned out to e a nice girl and the swimming suit she was wearing helped some. One thing led to another and we kissed right after I had changed and was about to go home. It was sweet yet awkward.. and of course it sucked. I had no experience (she did). When I turned around I was suddenly eye to grin with a girl from my class. I was on cloud nine all week and then I got to see my belle when she was wearing her normal clothes. It all went downhill rather fast after that, I'm afraid.. especially after she started to send me about one perfumed letter a week.
