Ah! The watchman just cried "Five of the clock and alllll's welllll!" Time to go home. Incidetally, if my boss were ever to become a dz.commer and saw how much I PW'd on here today this week, I'd be royally fucked. The zipper guy, of course - at least I wouldn't be attached to him "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

He wrote a warning to you... Somehow that looks really ominous.. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

Hahah, so that's what it is. I grin at you and you get naughty thoughts! Aaron Eckhart reminds me of Normiss in certain smirky scenes that he does. But, only when he looks like the first picture I attached, not the second. What the hell did he do to himself? Flip a coin, I think. I'm going to be an English teacher pretty soon and am appalled at how many teachers of all subjects can't get a sentence out properly. I have had to argue with instructors about my grammar and track down grammar books to bring in to said instructors to prove that they were wrong. Presently, I have an instructor who claims that she takes points off for grammatical errors. I've saved up every single assignment, memo, PowerPoint presentation, etc. she's given us. Every single one of those has multiple errors. I can't wait until I type "own" instead of "won" and don't have time to catch it. I'm going to pull out a huge stack of red-blotched papers and hand them to her. Human nature being what it is, I'd do so only after graduation if I were you. Present it as 'A token to remember me by' perhaps.. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

Perhaps MTV could start a new reality show: Sangi knows best Seriously though, I don't think it is such a bad thing for parents to set conditions for their monetary support. I may not agree with them, but it is the parent's right to exert some control over the child's life until the child is completely sef-sufficient. OP, you're doing the right thing not to lie to your mom. If you went and skydived behind her back, you'd seriously jeapardise the relationship with your mother. In my eyes, you'd also prove that you're not an adult yet. Anyone who wants their parents to stay out of their affairs should not take their parents money. Who knows, showing that you can abide to the conditions your mother set you might even help your mother relaxing the condtions of the money grant - in time. For the record; I'm 29 and no, I do not have children. Yet you can find the time to post here. Atta girl! Just stopping by to say 'hi' ... I got plenty of time ... I just slept one hour more than I usualy do ... O Aha, I see. My own morning ritual is sleep as late as I can (6.30 AM). I typically leave for work between 7-7.30 AM, depending on how hard it was to drag my lazy butt out of my bed. As you wish. [rub] I did.. It was one of the most awesome jumps I ever made! Almost like my first jump all over again, I'd never had an experience like that. Sorry to hear about the fine, but be happy it didn't cost someone's life.. I think it ought to be illegal everywhere - it's very dangerous. Shouldn't the punishment be for killing someone? You could use the same thought process to outlaw anything...such as skydiving. You could die because its dangerous so it should be illegal, or you could damage someones property when you die or you could have a premature deployment and it destroy the tail of the aircraft and it will crash killing everyone on board and some people in a building the airplane crashed into so it should be illegal. Its only supposed to be against the law if you infringe on someone elses rights, not if it possibly could at some point. Barn door, horse... If you want to go ahead and kill yourself, be my guest. If a group of people wants to go ahead and participate in an activity which could kill any or all of them, be my guest. If you, trough plain negligence, irresponsibility or inattention pose a risk to the life of others, you deserve to be (in this case) fined, or in skydiving sanctioned. No criticisms, just so that i can keep it in mind next time I jump at Teuge: Which aircraft was this? How are these elastic thingies set up on the other two Caravans that regularly fly at Teuge? I got bitten by a tick last week on wednesday. Even though I removed the little basterd (yes, yes - I know, someone else should do that) completely I didn't trust the way the bite site looked so I went and saw the doctor who put me on doxycyclin for a week. Moral of the story: We're due a week of clear blue skies and little wind and I am to stay out of the goddamn sun "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

because we are not all jumpint in the Netherlands.. you might end up landing MUCH lower than takeoff altitude fucking flatlanders, ey!? Don't hate - if you don't like fucking flatlanders, just don't. Thank you for pointing out my thinking error - I was thinking of landing at *higher* altitudes than take off only. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

I did an intentionally unstable exit from 6k out of a balloon and found that I really needed the ten seconds I took before I got enough wind to work with. Although I was reaching for my toggles at 4k (slow opening) my friends were sure I was going to hit the parking lot before I even pitched my pilotchute. Regarding the AAD: Why would you switch it off if you have one? "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

I'm not a huge fan of completely open doors, especially at low alti's. I keep thinking about pilot chutes and stuff. That may be comfortable for some in front, but too cold for some in back. In the words of a load organiser at Perris: "Let's put the Dutch guy in the cold seat. With the kind of weather they got over there he won't notice anyway." Turning off the AAD is not an option for some, such as any Dutch skydiver who hasn't got their C-licence yet. Besides, I paid a lot of cash for my cypres - I'm damn well gonna turn it on for every jump. I have full confidence in my abilities to pull my reserve - but for those unforseeable circumstances in which an AAD can make a difference. As to the original issue, I do not have a whole lot of H&P's from an otter, but I make plenty from our own C182 at 3500 feet. My current basic emergency plan: sub-1000 = ride the plane down, 1000-2000 = reserve, >2000 = main. My Storm is snivelly and I have some issues with off-heading opening. I'm not necessarily blaming the canopy, BTW though my last seven Lightning jumps and reserve demo were on heading. So I'd basically rather use my 'last chance to live' then having to go into the warm flickery light while feeling stupid about not doing so.
