I have a feeling that it's not the type of course that makes for shitty spotters, but the DZ/sport mentality. Being a cessna DZ of course we place emphasis on spotting. However, I bet that if SL-students were put out of an otter (especially at places where they don't do a go-around), they'd be just as likely to 'just go on green' as the AFF-student. I've heard of at least one DZ were spotting is simply skipped and just signed off on the student's progression card - 'because the pilot does all the spotting the student doesn't need that task'. Did I say anything about lack of spotting ability or getting a different canopy? I really tried to make it clear that I was talking about you and your twin brother, who were late divers on a bigway and the organizer, billvon, led you out on a bad spot. Dave The very fact that you had to specify particular models indicates that just knowing the number of cells is insufficient information. And since we're late divers the chances are that we are running with the wind, and the one with the lower wing loading will go farther regardless of number of cells. Fact is, skybill's statement "You will walk further with the 7" is only correct under a very limited set of circumstances, and most of the time your walking distance has nothing to do with the number of cells in the canopy. But they are saying that the wing loadings are equal! so everything is equal apart from the number of cells! and apart from the taper, trim and (possibly) size of the canopy. Damn turbine babies .. I bet you jump a 7-cell canopy too. Turbine babies? I have made nearly half of my jumps from a, or rather THE 182.. As for the (totally uncalled for) 7-cell comment, they actually ahd me do a static line jump last weekend, you hater. I still haven't quite gotten over the humiliation yet - I didn't even dare to jump this weekend. Almost... I'm looking forward to it

Some 007 movie. JB jumps from a jeep which ran over a cliff. I was really amazed when the close up showed JB pulling the reserve handle, but unfortunately the canopy in the next shot had clearly had the D-bag attached to it. 007 proceeded to land on a boat and cutaway the 'reserve canopy' before falling into the arms of a beautiful woman. This week will probably be tough to fill with work - all SOPs are being reviewed, the report is pending more data which I cannot generate just yet due to a lack of samples. But I predict that next week an avalanche of responsibilities will come down with little warning - responsibilities which all need to be finished "last week".
