Hey Sraja, I DID get whiplash cos of a hard opening! I was walking around like quasimodo for nearly 2 weeks!! This happened 3 weeks ago and its still bothering me - i jumped at the weekend like which didnt help matters but its getting there! I was going to post a question regarding it - do many jumpers end up with serious neck problems at all? To know requires proof To believe requires evidence To have faith requires neither. Harness Cutting into Me on Opening
funkcanna replied to funkcanna's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thanks for the replies!! At the weekend (the weekend is Friday and Saturday here!) I tightened the straps up tight and as high as they would go and it definately helped!! I can live with that until my new rig arrives! Thanks again, Funk To know requires proof To believe requires evidence To have faith requires neither. I see what your saying. I guess there is alot broader a range of forums on here than on other Forums!! What I am getting at, is that from my point of view, I think there will be alot of threads I would like to read but dont know they exist!! For example, the only board I visit is the General Skydiving board. I think this is because im still a beginner and I dont fully know what areas I want to read about (all of them!) so would be good to see a brief snapshot or something of threads in the majority of boards. Is it possible to "subscribe" to a board, and have all thread titles emailed to me or something? To know requires proof To believe requires evidence To have faith requires neither. Harness Cutting into Me on Opening
funkcanna replied to funkcanna's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi all, I'm currently jumpin a Dolphin Container with Clipper 195 main while I await my Custom Mirage G3 with Sabre2 Main. On opening, the harness really badly cuts into my groin area and causing bruising and small cuts. I always open stable. Is the pain caused by the fact the harness doesnt fit properly? Should I be fastening the leg straps tighter? Is it because my Main is rubbish? Is it because the nose is not rolled when packed? Basically i'm looking for a reason so I can sort it out. I dont want to go through this pain on every jump until my custom kit arrives! Once under canopy I cant even do even slightly fast turns as the pain is too much! I'm not being a pussy, it really does hurt!! I will obviously ask the instructors at the DZ when I go there, but i'm also interested in what you all think! Cheers Funk To know requires proof To believe requires evidence To have faith requires neither. If you stick with that, we'll never be confused again -
Hi, On other forums ive been on, they have a link which takes you to a forum that contains posts from ALL the other forums in most recent order (up to a max of 10 pages worth). This way, people can just browse this forum and see all forums posts as they are posted. I think this would be great on this site simply because there are multiple forums and they take alot of browsing! I would suggest this forum not be setup like a normal forum i.e. cannot post to it so that it is only popultated by posts from other forums - if you know what I mean!? What you think? Hey MB, im no wingsuit flyer either, but I think the reason wingsuits are ok with lower pulls is because the rate of descent is much much less, so while it may take up 500-700ft of air to be under canopy in normal freefall, a wingsuit jumper will use maybe half that. Not sure on the exact figures etc but im pretty sure the reasoning is right! :P To know requires proof To believe requires evidence To have faith requires neither. need advice for my AFF level 3
funkcanna replied to leslie1618's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi Leslie, I have only recently started jumping again after being out of the sport for 3 years. I had only made 20 jumps prior to stopping (8 AFF, 10 consols and 2 fun jumps). In my mind before my 1st jump in 3 years I kept thinking about the things that could go wrong and I found myself concentrating too much on the possible problems. When I got in the air (with an instructor) immediately the things I was thinking about started happening (chipping, involuntary turning). I eventually got stable and pulled ok. When I landed I realised that those things had gone wrong because thats all I was thinking about! On the next jump I just jumped and everything was fine. I just enjoyed it! Basically what im saying is that although it will be hard, and I now it will have been playing on your mind, do not think about your spin too much. Be confident and KNOW that you can deal with it if it happens, but dont let it get in the way of your jump. If you know what I mean!!! :) Good luck - I look forward to hearing about you passing Level 3! To know requires proof To believe requires evidence To have faith requires neither. Under Canopy through Cumulus Clouds
funkcanna replied to northcave's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi, On my first jump after my consols the full load opened above big fluffy clouds. There was only one hole that I could see and from where I was I watched 4 or 5 skydivers under canopy all spiral through this hole then I followed. It was amazing. 150 Stiletto ok for beginner?
funkcanna replied to funkcanna's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi, i'm currently in the process of getting back into skydiving after almost 3 years away. I was still a beginner last time I jumped so will be even more so now. Someone is selling a rig with a 150 Stiletto in it. What is everyones thoughts on these canopies for a beginner? I weigh 12.5 stone (175 pounds) without gear, so not sure on my exit weight. Any advice will be much appreciated!! To know requires proof To believe requires evidence To have faith requires neither. If you stick with that, we'll never be confused again -

Hey, I know there is a DZ in Umm al Quwain in the Emirates. Im going over there shortly and just wondered if being a BPA member will allow me to jump there? I have an A license. Sorry if this is a stupid question! Cheers Funk To know requires proof To believe requires evidence To have faith requires neither. If you stick with that, we'll never be confused again

I dont want this to scupper my plans to restart jumping! Are there any BPA affliliated DZ's over there? Or should I post this question elsewhere?! Thanks! Hi all, I was a member on here a couple of years ago but cant remember my ID! Anyway, ive had almost a 3 year gap since my last jump due to a bad relationship and now im starting up again and I cant wait! However, I had only ever completed 20 jumps so was still a novice when stopped. Does anyone know if I will have to redo any training etc? Anyway, looking forward to a very blue 2007 and am desperate to start where I left off! To know requires proof To believe requires evidence To have faith requires neither.
