Moving off student gear this weekend!
Glitch replied to JMS8800's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Firstly, while confidence in your abilities is a great attribute to have and all that shit, in skydiving it don't quite work out that well. You don't know what you don't know. The incident reports are littered with folks spouting that very line of crap. No offense, but we've heard/read this shit before. Nothing you've done outside of skydiving equates to experience in skydiving. From my perspective, you have a choice to make. I hope you make the right one. Secondly, the 'fast' I was referring to you will experience on your first few jumps. You will be hauling ass at the ground! Faster than you can imagine... and at that groundspeed if you fuck up your flare it hurts. If you don't flare it hurts. If you flare too high it hurts. Good luck with that. Moving off student gear this weekend!

Yeah, but femurs and vertebrae are way, way expensive. Please, please be "way" careful and conservative. I really don't feel like reading any more incident reports. I know 'fast is fun', and all that shit.... but ANY canopy can, and will, hurt you. Fear the bone jarring, laying on the ground unable to do anything but groan in excruciating pain, THUMP that results from your body coming into contact with the earth and you running out of stuff in your luck bucket... I'm sure other can, and will, advise per the typical safety nazi kind o crap so I'll defer to them. Otherwise, have fun dude. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born... -
Yikes.... I believe I would have done a bit more than talking too... and in private, I mean like behind the nearest woodshed! FWIW... the receipt does show the vin and milage, but the milage is what it was when I picked the car up, not when I dropped it off. I'll be picking the car back up after work, so hopefully all will be good by then. I talked to the shop this morning, and they seem to be trying to make it good. They're redo-ing the trans flush and putting in Dex VI, per a TSB (or so he says) although my manual says Dex III. I'm hoping for the best.... Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

I parked the car in front of their bay doors.... they'll see it first thing this morning. If they don't resolve the issue, I'll be towing it to the dealer... I've had no issues w/this shop in the past, and have been quite pleased w/all prior work done by them on both my vehicles. But... never had em do anything this "major" before Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Def not a 'hiss', more of a rub noise... all gears... in and out of the vehicle, and can be heard on passenger side as well (my son noticed it too and he's 9). I does seem to coincide w/rpm and while driving. The clunk can be heard and felt in the shifter... while sitting with brakes applied ...just moving the shifter slowly back and forth from R-N-D and vice versa. Again, my son noticed it... Invoice does not specify the type of fluid used, just that it was done (generic material cost and labor) The shop knew I'd be out of town for the holidays and wouldn't be back till after the first. The tank (gas tank?) wasn't dropped afaik. Additional work included replacing blower/fan for AC/heater, and I had the steering column and intermediate shaft replaced. There's a major issue w/Cobalt power steering and a couple of TSB issued but no recalls as of yet. I was feeling a 'clunk' under my feet, and the mechs felt it was related to the steering. Since kids + no steering == safety issue, I told em to replace it all... They spent an additional day past the agreed upon pu date trying to get it all assembled correctly, so that the airbag sensor wouldn't light up. Does all this help? 2005 Chev Cobalt, 55K miles. No issues w/the trans prior to having it serviced as a maintenance thingy. Now, I'm hearing a 'whining', similiar to a vacuum line off, sound... a minor but definative 'clunk' when shifting from R to N to D... and a perceptible loss of engine power to the trans in lower gears. I strongly suspect they put the wrong fluid in it (or something). Anyone think this is a reasonable presumption on my part? In total, the shop had my car from before Xmas till after New years. I was down a 1/4 tank of gas or so... Which leaves me wondering one of the mechanics used my car as a loaner while I was gone. Additional repairs were done, but thats a diff issue. Thoughts and ideas? Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Yes, that's what he's saying. Different strains / types provide a different high; intensity, how it affects your mental state, physical state, etc. Some strains provide an intense uplifting or cerebal high, some provide a mellow buzz, some grant the smoker w/ a serious case of couch-lock, and so on. Really? How so? The individuals typically, IMHO, just want something to kill their symptoms w/out having to purchase / get addicted to high $$$ pain relievers. ...or to control severe nausea due to chemo. ...or any number of other examples. Have you ever had an injury requiring pain meds, such as a compound fracture, surgery, or a herniated disk? How would you feel if all you were given were some aspirins or something that didn't do the job and were told thats all you could have because what could/would work is illegal to prescribe? I don't believe there is a magic number on how much THC is required for relief. From personal experience, I know that there IS a bonified need for medicanal pot though. I was the PCG to my dad as he died of pancreatic cancer. As his disease progressed, the amount of morphine required to alleviate the pain increased. With the increase of his meds, along came the nausea. Just the smell of food could be enough for him to hurl. Working with hospice, we tried everything imaginable to get his nausea under control. Yes, we tried the synthetic mj (marinol i think it was called), with very limited succcess. When we ran out of options, I asked the hospice nurse if real weed would work better. She said it was worth a try since she had had patients have positive results from it, but she couldn't reccommend or perscribe it due to legalities. Well, I scored some and guess what? It WORKED! It killed the nausea so well that he actually gained weight. I'm pretty sure that if you're ever unfortunate enough to experience something similar, you will no longer have any doubt. Hey Ron, ever get the feeling, or heard the phrase, that 'ya can't fix stupid'? Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

No shit.... absolutely, hands down not contest, the best I've ever smoked was homegrown. When one grows their own, there is a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment of sorts... you know what chemicals, if any, are used on the girls... you pick when to harvest for maximum potentcy... you know you're not spending $$$ on crap weed or contributing to the coffers of drug cartels and all the violence that goes along with it. So let's all stop with the bullshit already. Decriminalize / legalize it... and let's all do our part in the 'War On Terrorism' and grow our own!

Do you clean or do you clean clean when.......
Glitch replied to d_squared431's topic in The Bonfire
I don't clean anything, and haven't in years! No seriously... I don't. My wifey does it all, and insists on it. I will occassionally help with dishes or cooking and stuff, but thats just so I can get laid. I can bring folks over to the house most anytime and it will be clean. Slightly lived in w/a 9 and 12 yr old kids running around, but clean where it wouldn't take more than a minute to tidy up. My wifey isn't what I call a 'Clean Freak'; well, not to her face anyway . It took me years to get her to understand that the world isn't gonna implode if she leaves the house w/out making the bed, that it's ok to leave a couple of dishes on the counter and go to bed, and that there really isn't any need to dust the top of door jambs every single day. She takes care of the inside of the house, and I take care of the outside. It might not work for most folks, but it works for us, and has for 20'ish yrs and counting... -
I don't question it at all. It would be optional. Uncle Sam pays for the procedure and pays them 2K/5K/Whatever amt... This would give them a financial boost, as well as get rid of the hassle of them getting their monthly BC shot (or whatever) AND reducie the long term and future payout of taxpayer money (although, admittedly, it would take a generation or so to feel the effects). Please, feel free to offer up a better suggestion for breaking the cycle. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

I've encountered that mentality before... my typical response is to simply tell em 'pound sand, kiss my aching ass, F-off, bite me... or something similar. I've no use, or time, for oversized penises w/hearing appendages. While I'm convinced that even the biggest of asshats puts their pants on the same way as the rest of us (1 leg at a time), I'm not generally inclined to pass my hard earned (and often hard to come by) jump money into their coffers. I'll take my $$$ elsewhere. If on the otherhand, I've 'done something stupid' that jeopardized my health/safety or that of somebody elses... I'd fully expect a well deserved ass chewing. That being said, nobody has managed to chew my ass harder than I chew my own in a very long time. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

How about instituting mandatory birth control on anyone lining up for public aid, welfare, WIC, or whatevery the hell you want to call it. Need help, no problem. Want "your" money, get your shot. Hell, even offer them a couple of grand cash, over and above the cost, to be sterilized! The generational cycle of poverty has to stop! Anyone have a better idea? It's easy... here's whatcha do. Take the Neptune, in hand, and calmly walk outside to your car. Don't forget your keys. Open said car in your normal fashion and CAREFULLY drive down to your local post office. After standing in line, purchase on of those small, corregated boxes and some stamps. Gingerly wrap the Neptune with something (doesn't really matter what, it could be an old sock, undies, or whatever... just remember that the heavier the wrapper, the more postage is required!) and seal it in the box. Use only approved USP tape btw... Anyway, at this point you should be ready to hand the box off to the lazy fuck behind the counter (after standing in line again for prolly another 15-20 mins). However, you forgot to bring the address of where to ship it (how did I know you were gonna do that?). No problem... just go back outside, calmly mind you, and CAREFULLY drive back home where you can download and print off the shipping address for the nearest official Neptune service center. Once you have this, you can (once again) go back to the post office, stand in line, and mail your waterlogged Neptune back to the factory for service. Hope this helps...

Meh... I busted my ass coccyx once (and that was enough ). I couldn't sit thru a movie without pain for almost a year and that inflatable ring they gave me was my best friend for while.... about 3 months as I recall. However, I was skydiving again

I've gotten a few tickets in Illinois... when I lived there... which, thankfully, I don't anymore.... On each, I ponied up between 100-200 bucks for a lawyer. In EACH case, the tickets (speeding & no seatbelt) were reduced to NON-moving violations... In the end, I paid court costs/fine and the lawyer. However, I never had to attend traffic school AND, more importantly, the points never showed and thus my insurance rates didn't go up. At the time... I was driving a Firebird.... which was a ticket magnet. In the 10 years prior to, and subsequently after owning that car, I have only received 1 ticket... which I ponied up to the lawyer and he got it tossed out.
