Air Traffic Control: So Easy a Caveman Could Do It!
Glitch replied to Andy9o8's topic in The Bonfire
I've got two kids in the system... my wife works for the local school... I'm inclined to agree w/Tdog. I'm getting numb to ever constant 'dumbing down' of the educational system. As required by law, thanks to 'no kid left behind', they can only teach what is explicitly on the 'End Of Grade' test. I know some excellant teachers who have been diciplined by the administration for deviating from it! I do agree though, that there need to be congressional hearings, or something, into wtf is going on in the schools. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born... -
I suspect that, historically speaking, virgins to sacrifice were: 1) gals tagged by the priest and put to death so they wouldn't tell, 2) gals who wouldn't put out for the priest, or 3) used as extortion leverage for monetary gain from the mom/pop of the virtuous young lass (pay the gods 2 months of acorns and a handful of seashells or I can't protect your kid from Growler, the ever hungry virgin eater...) Back in '84... I managed to hook my main up backwards. It was the weekend before I left to join the Army. I was doing Mr. Bill dives w/my dads canopy (375' Goliath) all day... Fun. For the last load of the day, the DZO asked me if I wanted to jump again. Naturally, I told him yeah, but I had no more funds. He said he'd buy me a jump, but I gotta get my shit together cause the sun was going down. Well... instead of packing that monster up, I swapped it out for my main, which I had ever so carefully took out of the container earlier and placed to the side (not far enough to the side though, cause it was moved from where I put it). All I had to do was hook up the risers, close to container, and the pilot chute in its pouch (which I managed to do in record time btw...). Anyway... the dive went off as planned, and I found myself saddled out at about 2K under a perfectly functional canopy, with the exception of facing backwards. Since I had already had to postpone my service for 3 months to heal from a dislocated shoulder, I elected to chop it. Stood up the landing on a 26' Phantom btw... Anyway, the dzo didn't quite believe me (my story, or my reasoning), or maybe he did... either way, he banned me from the dz for 3 months. No biggie... I was leaving that week for Basic... then jump school... then AIT at Ft. Lee. I often thought he only banned me so that the other hot heads that witnessed it wouldn't get the idea that it was cool to do... even though it kinda was at the time. You may very well be correct. The Knights had em back in the 80's. Nice to jump from, but a bit slow on the climb to altitude. I even have an 'emergency exit' logged, from one in '86. ...of course, it could also be a C-123. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Help Choosing Gifts for a Couple of Not-So-Fun Occasions?
Glitch replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
For your mailman, I'd concur w/the live plant for the reason given.... For the hairdresser, how about a day for two at a nice spa... mani, pedi, facial, massages, etc... This way, she can spend a nice relaxing day w/a friend away from the stress and troubles of the world. IF she pick you, well... your gold! If not, she knows that your truely sorry cause you didn't get her a lame ass plant or sumtin. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born... -
KUDOS for doing the right thingy, instead of going for the $$$. If we ever meet, the is on me. We've never met, but from your history and what I've heard wom (not just on these boards), your "almost" alright in my book... Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Yes, he OWES a case of beer. No question about it... The 100th jump is certainly a milestone that he/she should of known before hand would require the requisite fine. Therefore, he SHOULD be penalized 1 case for not having it readily available (on ice!) when the beer light came on, on the day of the jump. Only 1 case, not 10... thats a bit excessive. So this makes a total of 2 cases owed (unless of course, he tries pass off a case(s) of swill for beer, in which case he would naturally incur another penalty of a case. In all fairness though, IF he thinks any of the above is unfair, he does have the right to appeal the fines to your local S&TA which, after careful consideration of all available information and points of contention, will summarily rule against him and thus incur yet another penalty of an additional case of beer. Hey... I didn't make the rules, I just help enforce em when beer is justifiable owed!!! Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Armed only with a broom... NO GUNS involved. So... aside from presenting a rather typical situation where the victims 'could have' protected themselves from injury 'had' they themselves been armed (as per the 2nd amendment), what's your point? Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

No promises, but I might have the original install CD for that. When I get home from work I'll do some searching. IF I got it, it's yours. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

I'm wondering if the 'surge' landing "technique" was used... I remember folks breaking themselves doing this back in the day, and for whatever reason (ZP -vs- F111 ?) it's accepted today. I cringe everytime I see it done. Disclaimer: I'm not a TI. Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Torture No.... as for the eating part, well now I guess that would depend on what she looks like! Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Case in point.... It was natural for early man to kill and eat meat, thus allowing our brain sizes to increase (due to the proteins) giving man the ability to climb down from the trees and use tools. This, in turn, allowed natural selection to place us at the top of the food chain.... And look where it got us! Now we get to listen to a few/bunch of folks, who are a few french fries short of a happy meal IMHO, spout off how it's tortuous and uncivilized to eat anything other then grains, fruits, and nuts. Perhaps we are what we eat afterall... Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

I'd strongly suggest contacting the manufacture of both the HC and reserve before you jump it. Our DZ has a near spanky new Safety Day cutaway set up due to this very reason. They have no way of knowing what contaminates got into the nylon and what that will do to material properties. good luck! Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

Moving off student gear this weekend!

No, I was thinking exactly what I wrote AFAIK. Re-read my post... I didnt' say this, you did. I'm more than willing to take corrective critism and learn from others, as the good Lord knows I've made my fair share of mistakes (hence, my username ). Hell, I could diatribe my skydiving experiences, which began in 1982 btw. ...or detail out a few times where I rubbed elbows with the Reaper; landing in a cemetary among the tombstones at night, or when I found myself cranking points in a 4-way at -
