To whom it may concern, (Name) is, until further notice, under the care of his/her physician. It is imperative that he/she let his/her eyes rest, preferably while dropping at 175 ft/sec. for one minute, to be followed immediately by hanging suspended in a harness for three to five additional minutes at various altitudes. Under the powers vested in me by the States of Denial and Misery I hereby direct all of his/her instructors, professors, and teachers to withhold all study materials and requirements until such time as I see fit. Thank you for your cooperation, Dr. Arnold Friend, PhD, CIA, NCAA, NSPCA, TKB Just fill this out and hand it in to your profs.

What's the coldest temperature you've ever seen where you live?
willard replied to BillyVance's topic in The Bonfire
-40 F. for two nights a few years ago. Birds froze to death perched on limbs. That's when you realize that 0 F. is merely uncomfortable. -
He is giving a lecture on the events of 9/11 from an engineering perspective. Anybody know him? Would it be worth sitting in on?

I forgot, those of you across the pond don't brush your teeth . In the US, we use toothbrushes to keep our teeth clean. Q: How do we know that the toothbrush was invented in West Virginia? A: Because if it was invented anywhere else it would would be called a teethbrush!

Not much can be done with the pics. TV shows can do anything they want, not so in the real world. Even if the pics could be refined, most courts won't admit them as evidence once they have been messed with.

1st impression....trade it off on a newer used car. It sounds like it's getting to the part of it's lifespan where it will need $100-$200 month in repairs to keep it on the road. That's a good chunk of a payment for something that doesn't need repairs. Just something to think about.

I think I posted these once, but they're still cute.

I used to live in one of those "gated" communities...you know the kind with the so-called security shack you have to go past, keycards at the gates, etc. Bunch of BS. I wanted to fence in part of the yard for my dog but the powers that be couldn't decipher their own regs enough to agree on how much of the yard I could fence, which part, what type of fence, blah blah blah... Got wrote up once because the concrete of my driveway came within 6" of the asphalt roadway. Forget that it was like that before I ever moved in. HOAs can be ok or a real PITA depending on whether you are in the clique and how much crap you can take. Read the regs carefully and consider them to be the minimum as far as what they can hassle you over.

Yeah, "quarantine area" is a pretty new fangled word for dumpster, it hasn't gotten around yet to all the employees. Could be the kitchen. I heard rats taste like kitten. Or was that chicken?

410 Sprint. Used to run with All Star Circuit and WoO, mostly just local tracks...Buckeye, Attica, Eldora plus others. Our mills were putting out 725-750 hp. A very efficient way of turning money into noise You aint done shit till youve scattered 5k worth of engine onto a 1/4 of asphalt! I used to be into drag racing. 79 Chev malibu with: sbc 400 .030 over = 406 forged 350 crank ground 9/16 over = 421 (If I remember right) Comp cams 305 .525 cam mech lifters 300hp "double hump" heads (damn if I cant remember the casting number) 421 I think. Custom ported by me. 2.02 int, 1.60 exh, brass guides 1.05 springs, 7/16 studs, girdles etc 4500 TCI converter '69 chevelle 12 bold with moroso brute strength posi and 4:56 gears Ok. Only the serious gears heads will get most of that, but there aint much like sitting behind the of a 450hp 11.5 second race car. Its kinda like your first ride in a 7 min to altitude King Air. I hope you kept her street legal...that woulda been a blast!

Were the 9/11 hijackers Israeli agents, disguised as Arabs?
willard replied to A-Train's topic in Speakers Corner
If you really are a 9/11 researcher then you would know that it never happened. It was all faked to give the country something to do between Labor Day and Halloween. The towers are still there, you just can't see them because David Copperfield made them invisible. Now go away and get a life. -
The car I have now...nope. Just a car. Had an S-10 pickup that seemed to attract deer for some reason. I bought it new in Jan. '97 and sold it summer '03. During that time I put 134,000 on her and killed at least 8 deer. And those are the ones that I remember. Never had that trouble with any other car or truck I've owned. Had a '94 Chevy 3/4 pickup that seemed to attract rocks to it's windshield. Three years, six windshields, all from rocks. My Focus is blessedly boring to drive.

When's the Last Time You Went to a Drive-in Movie?
willard replied to NWFlyer's topic in The Bonfire
Carload night to see "The Warriors" when it was first released somewhere around '79-'81. My brother had a van so we could pack a couple dozen people in there plus beer. -

Pretty sad. You would think that since the women was cooperating with them and had no weapons they would have at least checked to see if she was telling the truth about her bleeding and determine how bad it was. I know it's not easy being a cop, but it seems all common decency was lost in this arrest. She didn't even swear or lose her temper...all she did was beg to go to the hospital.

The "Guinness Believer" Event... free Guinness beer and food
willard replied to Fallin4U's topic in The Bonfire
https://www.believerrsvp.com/Docs/Lda/Default.aspx They say the Irish discovered civilization, then had a couple Guinness and forgot where they put it. -
In the colder areas during winter leave the stopper in the shower then wait until the water has cooled to room temp before draining. No sense letting all the heat go down the drain plus it adds a bit of moisture to the dry air. If you have small kids this may not be a good idea. Save your newspapers and donate them to the local animal shelter for cage and kennel liners.

What's the most idiotic comment you've heard from a whuffo?
willard replied to Fallin4U's topic in The Bonfire
'What would you do if your reserve chute didn't open?" I just tell 'em I don't have to do anything-gravity will do all the work. -
