No idea what caused the canopy to blow. Any ideas?
CarloC replied to skittles_of_SDC's topic in Safety and Training
It happened to me once on a sabre 135 loaded at 1.3, the same damage as yours, but the canopy had over 1500 jumps, it had brand new lines and the porosity of the canopy still looked fine. The opening was hard as a sabre always is, but nothing different, just a blue sky above me. kind scary. -
GAS PRICES AND THE FUTURE OF SKYDIVING??
CarloC replied to a63jmt300's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Lodi is the place to be! If i ever get a Green Card, im moving to Northern California. Venezuela still has US$ 15,00 jumps and it´s closer, but i can´t deal with Chavez. -
GAS PRICES AND THE FUTURE OF SKYDIVING??
CarloC replied to a63jmt300's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I´ve heard trough a friend that works occasionally as a T.I at Lodi that even there had to increase their ticket prices. It`s now in the US$ 18,00 range. Still is the cheapest place to jump in the U.S. -
Thats pretty much what i want right now, a few jumps a month. My main focus is Freeflying right now and Wingsuit flying would be another way to have fun.

Hi Guys, i did a few searchs but did not found anything that could really help me, so a have a few questions for you guys... 1. I want to buy a used Classic 1, its really old school, but i cant find any references about how the price range is for this model. Can you guys give me a ball park? If the price is ok, its worth buying a old sytle suit like the classic 1 at all? 2. I´ve seen in this forum that Wingsuits and Elipitcals are a No-no. is that really true? I jump a Stilleto 120 loaded about 1,5 and always had sweet on-heading opennings. Should i use another main on the wing jumps? or can i use my stilleto? I really dont want to buy another main or borrow another rig everytime i want to do a wingsuit jump. I think thats about it, thanks in advance. Later

Back to your question about the future of the sport. I will give my country as a example. In the last 7 years, the jump ticket has gone up a little bit more than 300% price increase. and we have somewhat of a "stable" economy, the oil price skyrocketed in my country since 2000, and we are supposed to be a self-sufficiency country. Go figure But the sport just keeps getting bigger, and people keep on jumping. In a few decades when the jump ticket will cost the same price as here, i bet people will keep on jumping too. And US$ 50 to us is a lot more than US$ 50 to an American or European person, it hurts a lot more in our pocket. If you really love the sport, you will always find a way to jump.

You´re Complaining about ticket costs in the U.S? I pay US$ 68 for a 11 grand jump from a cessna at my home dropzone. If i want to jump from a Caravan from 12 grand i have to pay US$ 50 plus a airplane ticket. I bet you feel better about the costs now. Later

what make a freefly helmet a freefly helmet?
CarloC replied to FourSideDean's topic in Gear and Rigging
I would stick with a ProTec if i were you. They offer way better protection and you can hook up with an audible. Do a search on the forums and there is a lot of information on how to put an audible on a ProTec. Later -
Ouragan Suits! Freakin Awesome!
CarloC replied to driftmania's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Did you read my post? i guess you did not understood what i meant. My point is that i understand why people pay a lot of money to have a totally custom suit with a complex design. A complex custom design by Ouragan or LiquidSky is expensive and it is a lot of work, its custom and nobody else will have a suit like yours. My point is about the suit by the OP, its a simple suit with stripes. i dont get why should some one pay over US$ 500,00 for a suit like that. The same type of suit by LiquidSky or FliteSuit or Tony is half the price. Again, i am talking about a single colour suit with stripes, no way its a complex design and no way should be expensive. Ouragan Suits! Freakin Awesome!
CarloC replied to driftmania's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi, i dont mind to be a jerk about this, but... I understand why people pay a lot of money to buy a Ouragan, they want a one of a kind suit, a very complex design etc. But why would someone pay over US$ 500,00 to get a simple suit with stripes by Ouragan? I can get the same style suit by LiquidSky for half that price, or another major company, like FliteSuit or Tony. The quality is the same, but i guess the Hype is not! -
No, that clip will work only for the ProDytter or ProTrack. Since the Solo is smaller it will not fit. Later

Hi Alex, the Protektor is the only way to mount the Solo on the Hurricane. The Protektor comes with 4 holes that you can use to put the Wax cords or the Zip Ties and mount them on your Helmet. I also sugest that you use your imagination to think of ways to reinforce the mount on your helmet, like a Gaffers tape for example. Later

Hi, i have a Viso and it broke away from the zip ties today, it was hanging only by the two others zip ties. I recomend using some other form to hold the viso togheter on the hand mount or the wrist mount, those little 4 holes in the Viso to put the zip ties are not that strong! Later

I used to have a Rawa Imagem, but i sold it because im not a big fan of chincups and i dont want to use a camera. So i bought a Hurricane, a low profile helmet for freefly. Its a preety good helmet, A+ confort, light weight and a nice low profile. The audible ports being on the outside made me a little unconfortable, but you can hear them just fine and it is very secure. Im a Medium size, but i bought a Large and it fits tight, so if you wanna buy one try first or buy one size larger. I think the SkyDial is just a fancy thing, its has a nice fit even with out using it, so if it brokes, im not worried. I recommend this helmet if you want this kind of helmet. Later!

I have 2 saves with this reserve, a MR 135 loaded about 1.3 Both rides the canopy opened really fast, thats a good thing when you have a low cutaway. First land with it I broke my arm and the second time I used I land in my back so hard that 3 months after my reserve it still hurts like a b$#@@ You dont have any control stroke and a super hard stall. I finaly got rid of it and bought a PD 113. I just cant put a MR 135 in my gear again!!!

I have to say that Rawa helmets are ahead of its time. I had a Rawa that was a large and I changed the foam (poorly made by some guy) to fit my medium head. A year later I sent my old Rawa to make a second foam from Rawa. Radir(owner of Rawa) sent me a brand new helmet size medium to Perfectly fit my head free of charge. Can you believe that? Now that is what I call taking care of his customers!!! There are no sharp endings and it feels very secure in my head!!! Rawa Freefly Imagem should have a cut away system as a option. There is only a few dealers outside Brazil and that is a problem many may feel, since Radir does not speak english and buying one if you live in the U.S or Europe may be a little difficult!!! Thanks RAWA!!!
