Off the top of my head, Faber is right...it is iron you can taste. The iron is a key component in the structure of RBC, specifically in hemoglobin, and the process by which your RBC transrport oxygen throughout the body. Not sure, but I believe that someone with an iron deficiency has a higher propensity for anemia...can anyone clarify this further...maybe you want to adjust your diet...sorry not a doctor or biology major..
