    I was excited to see this post on the forum because finally I found a thread I can respond to and give advice on (my low jump numbers usually prevent this). Im a college student so I know exactly what's supposed to go into an essay on an application. Your essay was really quite good and I found little that would need changing. First off definetly title the essay "Skydiving" or "Skydiver" and not "Why I Jump Out of Perfectly Good Airplanes, for your essay doesnt directly respond to this question. Second I would change this part... to something like "Skydiving is a chance to see the world from 14,000 feet above ground level." Little else needs changing.     I know the best people to ask are my instructors. I also know Im not gonna be able to jump this weekend so I wont be at the DZ.     What is the general rule for Line Breaks while under canopy for students? Im still of course on the lightly loaded student canopies (Ive jumped both 240 and 288 sq foot mains) so I know its not nearly the same as the highly loaded elliptical advanced mains, which have different guidelines for how to handle linebreaks, but is a line break an always cutaway situation? What if I see multiple line breaks over my head yet the canopy is still steerable, should I cutaway? Is it worse to have a line break towards the center of the main or more near the edges? Will a student main spin with a line break or still fly docile as always? Id prefer to have responses from Instructors or coaches, who tend to be the most well informed on the most up to date SIM guidelines, but any and all rational advice is welcome.     Idk why I think the age for skydiving should stay at 18 and not go any lower, particularly because Im 18 now and I was dying to jump since I was about 14. As a student jumper off AFF working towards an A license I dont think 14 year olds recognize the potential consequences of skydiving and might look at it as more of a hobby then a dangerous sport. I think it is perfectly fine to allow people as young as ten to do Tandems, however to become a solo skydiver, to me, 18 sounds like the perfect balance for mental readiness and physical fitness. 2 BITS....4 BITS....6 BITS....A DOLLAR!....ALL FOR THE GATORS....STAND UP AND HOLLER!!!!

    my biggest challenge is balancing school, as I am a full time college student, and a raging passion for the coolest thing ive ever done, skydiving. I have and will always will get good grades but skydiving for sure has cut into studying time and ive only been jumping a few months. 2 BITS....4 BITS....6 BITS....A DOLLAR!....ALL FOR THE GATORS....STAND UP AND HOLLER!!!!

    no my instructor isnt a dz.commer and I guess I cant really explain what happened that well to my lack of visual to my own back and my low jump numbers. All I can say is that I lived and Im ready to jump anytime anywhere.     Idk how else to explain it but the dbag hit the burble and fell onto my back and maybe then got stuck in my container after it landed on my back. It wasnt a baglock but it was more of a stuck bag. I pulled it loose and once on the ground we checked out all of the rig for problems and found none. My instructor who saw and confirmed all of this said it was a rare freak occurrence and that if I jumped 10,000 times in my life chances are id never see or have that kind of malfunction again. Weird! 2 BITS....4 BITS....6 BITS....A DOLLAR!....ALL FOR THE GATORS....STAND UP AND HOLLER!!!!

    I had my 15th jump today and I had a high speed malfunction. It was also my first jump on a throwout pilot chute. I deployed the pilot chute perfectly fine and it caught air, however according to my coach who was flying about 50 feet away keeping an eye on me said the D Bag was stuck in the burble and wasnt getting caught in the airstream therefore causing no canopy to deploy. I felt all of this on my back after the chute didnt open and grabbed the D Bag and pulled it into the airstream which started my deployment. Under canopy I about had a heart attack. Has anyone else experienced this?? Anyone else have a good low timer malfunction story??? 2 BITS....4 BITS....6 BITS....A DOLLAR!....ALL FOR THE GATORS....STAND UP AND HOLLER!!!!

    Whenever I go to the dropzone and I see my instructor Eric about to take a load of people for some tandems and they start talking like the creator of this post does he says "sorry no jumps for today". People who focus on death in skydiving should stay the fuck away from the dropzone. If you keep thinking about your gonna end up willing it upon yourself. 2 BITS....4 BITS....6 BITS....A DOLLAR!....ALL FOR THE GATORS....STAND UP AND HOLLER!!!!

    Its crazy how many people say "oh Id love to do that". I then offer to set it up and go with them but almost everybody has had something as an exscuse. bullshit if you ask me. The first time skydiving entered my mind as an actual possibility (had money/was old enough) i did it the following weekend and now im hooked. it just goes to show you that it takes a special person to jump out of a "perfectly good airplane" 2 BITS....4 BITS....6 BITS....A DOLLAR!....ALL FOR THE GATORS....STAND UP AND HOLLER!!!!

    Im addicted to skydiving. I only have 11 jumps but I cant keep my mind from wandering off to something skydiving related. If skydiving came in powdered form Id be doing lines of it right now while on dz.com. Im a college student so really the only thing that will take my mind off skydiving is chicks, beer, or an upcoming test. 2 BITS....4 BITS....6 BITS....A DOLLAR!....ALL FOR THE GATORS....STAND UP AND HOLLER!!!!

    I was scared as hell before my first jump, but the fear is what makes this sport better and more fun than any other sport in the world. For all those people that say they aren't or weren't scared I dont understand how you have any fun. The fear of leaving an airplane towards certain death, unless you take the proper precautions, is the best part. 2 BITS....4 BITS....6 BITS....A DOLLAR!....ALL FOR THE GATORS....STAND UP AND HOLLER!!!!
