    The prison system does not provide an adequate environment (because people like you wish to make prison an environment where individuals are dehumanized and confined without human interaction which is often a contributing factor in their negative behavior) for individuals to understand their actions, understand the consequences of their actions, and rehabilitate. Thus, I choose to the death penalty. You obviously lack reading and comprehensnion skills because I am not a Republican (I have stated this on multiple occasions). You speak against using religion when others use it as an argument but then you speak for using religion when you use it as an argument.     Sentencing someone to be dehumanized and confined without human interaction for the remainder of their life is a death sentence ... a cruel and unusual death sentence. A civilized human would allow someone to remain human so that they may understand their actions, understand the consequences of their actions, and rehabilitate (even if they will never be released).     So you believe in torture but not execution ... very civilized. She is not advocating whipping or pulling toenails out. She points out that the punishment aspect of prison should include the loss of humanity and personal interaction. If a person commits a savage crime against an innocent person, we cannot kill him nor can we torture him. It seems right however to deny him teh pleasures of interacting with humanity be it via direct interaction or media (written or televised). He should be removed from society in every way possible short of actually killing him. I guess we will have to agree to disagree because I currently believe that dehumanizing an individual and completely removing all human interaction is a form of torture (and would be considered cruel and unusual punishment). PS: I also currently believe it would be more civilized to execute the individual. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch

    The death penalty is state sponsored execution not murder. If the death penalty is used for revenge then it is barbaric. However, if the death penalty is used for other reasons it can be civilized. There you go again making broad generalizations ... Do you believe that North Korea, Iran, etc... have only negative attributes? If you don't, then why do you believe that sharing some attributes with North Korea, Iran, etc.. can only be negative.
