Philips GoGear Wearable Cam - Worth anything for fun?
AndyMan replied to Motab's topic in Photography and Video
Jumping something that is less expensive does not make it any safer. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
Drew, I'd love to work with any of these teams next year... If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know. _Am (andy the canuck) __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

It's entertaining, and they're funny. We watch it when we see it. You have to look at the show a lot like you would a Michael Moore movie, except they lean right on most issues, not left. Quite often, they're simply wrong. It's unwise to believe everything they tell you. They're very good entertainers, so we do like them. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I think you're absolutely right, and it isn't particularly new, either. The US Congress has done more over the last few decades to subvert the power of the UN to be an effective multilateral organization than anyone else, primarily through holding back their agreed to fundings. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Not addressed to you in particular. How do you tell the difference between someone who's openly giving access, and someone who doesn't know better? Securing wireless access points is dirt easy. Even if you aren't interested in figuring out WEP, or encryption keys, enabling the MAC filter is simple. Every wireless router I've seen comes with a glossy 5 page instruction manual that shows even technophiles how to do it. Securing a wireless router is so simple, you have to conclude that people who haven't secured it either purposely left it unsecured, or just don't care. I suspect the majority of cases is the latter. Either way, no - not unethical to take whats offered for free. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

What I'm amazed at is that before this relevation came to light, the anti-UN folk were banging their fists on the table saying "See?, SEE?!? The UN IS worthless." But now, the minute it seems like the US was involved, all I see is a line of apologists hand-wringing about national security. It's an interesting study of the biases people have, and the lines they're willing to parrot. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

??? Check your facts, dude. http://gmail.google.com/gmail/help/terms_of_use.html Gmail terms of service are quite reasonable. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

If you sleep in a different trailer every night, or every week, you will be the person that everyone talks about. If you are respectful to yourself, your partner and your friends, then there's no need to exclude anyone. I met the woman who eventually became my wife at my home DZ. If you're looking for a long term relationship, it'd be dumb to exclude people from your biggest social group. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Craichead and I are in the middle of a battle of wills with the USPS - yee old yankee postal service. I'd gladly be argueing with UPS - at least they pretend to care about customer service. UPS may suck, but let me assure you the USPS sucks even more. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Good lord, is that still on the market? It used to be the only thing my grandmother drank. That meant it was the only wine at all family gatherings... Don't get me wrong, I've certainly had my fair share of crappy wines. Most recently we experimented with the Illinois Valley Winery... It was, to put it mildly, Not so good. If you're paying $22/bottle, it's going to be drinkable whether it's your favorite kind or not. Hell, even "three-buck Chuck" Charles Shaw is drinkable. I'd only be upset if I paid more than three bucks for it... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

That's the great thing about wine... For the most part, even when you buy the wrong one, it's still real nummy. I would never stress over buying the "wrong" bottle. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

It can't tell the difference between altitude changes and air preasure changes. It doesn't tell the difference between altitude changes and air preasure changes. When the air preasure changes, it adjusts both the altitude and the air preasure reading. It presumes (falsely, but within variance) that one variable changes at a time. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Have you looked at Condo's? They have all the advantages of owning a home, like building equity, and ever increasing property values.... But have additional upsides, like no grass to cut, leaves to rake, or snow to shovel. This is great because it means we get to spend out weekends at the DZ instead of cutting grass. Craichead and I just moved into our first home, a 950 sqr foot 1.5 bedroom, 2 bath condo in downtown chicago. There's definitely more expensive areas to live in, and if you insist on living there then you have to settle for a smaller place or a bigger payment. There are units in our building that started in the very low 200's. If we went out to the 'burbs, they'd start at $80,000. I know So-cal is expensive, but I also know that there's cheaper alternatives to owning your own single-family house in the city. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

If you're honestly taking your Ipod to 18000 MSL and it still works, then you're damned lucky. If you continue, you can expect to find a gradually increasing number of corrupt tracks, or a completely dead unit. RTFM. Snopes to the rescue. They call it an example of 'broken telephone', and a mistranslation. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I used to drive a Honda Prelude. I drove the piss out of it, and put well over 100,000 very hard miles on it. Until it's dieing day, it was bullet-proof. I will never second-guess buying a Honda. The S2000 is gorgeous, but small. If we were in the market for a second car, I can't think of a better option. I would not recoment it if it's your primary car, especially to a skydiver. Skydivers tend to have a lot of stuff to haul, and would definately do better with more storage space. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

What can we do about the USPA.....
AndyMan replied to diablopilot's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Students are rarely USPA members. How is this a conflict of interest if the loosing parties aren't members? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -

No. Hard drives simply can not be used over 10,000 feet. Seagate, Maxtor, Toshiba, Hitachi, and IBM are the companies involved as they're the ones who actually make the hard drives that get put into these cameras. None of them make a hard disk that works at high altitudes. This is unlikely to change. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Not sure about NJ, but I know NY has reciprocal agreements with both Ontario and Quebec, if you don't pay the ticket you may have problems renewing your license when it comes due next. You should not have any problems with insurance, though. Personally, I have no sympathy for you. Every road border crossing I've seen has numerous signs advising radar detectors are illegal, and that the fines are big. It takes talent to get a speeding ticket on most highways in Ontario and Quebec. For the most part, the cops just don't care about speeders. I used to drive Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal regularly and averaged 140km/h (85mph) on most trips. Sorry you were disapointed in Tremblant. I used to love it because it was the best skiing in the east I could get to reasonably easily. Mont St. Anne near Quebec city is also really good. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Just so I understand what you're saying, are you suggesting congress pass legislation specifically reducing the rights of corporations, adding smokers to a protected class of people? Just as a guess, but I suspect most Americans won't support such a bill. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

You are absolutely correct. What you're forgetting is that your employer absolutely has the right to employ who they see fit. Just as you have the right to do whatever you want, your employer has the right to choose not to employ you. It's really quite simple. Civil liberties is a two-way street. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I did the Mack Waranty... and regret it. Six week turnaround for a new motherboard on my Pc120. I would have gladly paid the standard Sony repair rate to get it back faster. Only do the Mack waranty if you can afford to go extended periods without the camera. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
