Skydive Chicago, Chicagoland Skydiving Center or lastly Paragear All sell new and used gear. Used gear is tough to find around here for reasons I don't understand. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Bunny's last email said it would be "Jim Johnson". Is that Farmers real name? It will be good to see him back! _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

It really depends on what kind of shape you're in. AFF isn't such an issue because you're jumping with instructors, but once you graduate you might find that it's dificult to find people to jump with you, if you're heavily overweight, for example. Generally, being limber and generally fit is all it takes. These even aren't solid requirements. Virtually anybody CAN skydive, but odds are you'll keep at it if you're not in terrible shape. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I don't think there's anything wrong with using transitions between scenes, but you seem to be putting transitions between shots. The two are very different things. For example, your clip has 4 scenes. Gearup, board plane, takeoff, and the memorial. Secondly, when I do use transitions, I'll stick to one transition throughout the whole film. Just beacuse you have 182 thousand transitions available, it doesn't mean you need to use them all in one clip. Thirdly, I will only use a longer clip if it is meaningfull. I personally felt some of the shots of the gear-up could have been cut shorter, but that's just my preference. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Got family members that skydive?
AndyMan replied to vonSanta's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My wife skydives, but thats not very suprising since I met craichead at the DZ. Before that, none of my family jumped. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
Web design should always be "platform indepdendent". This means that it should display properly on any resolution, within reason. HTML is scalable, so it only takes a bit of work to code your site so that it will look perfect at 800*600, and "stretch" up to 1400*1600. _Am (former webmaster molson.com, littletikes.com, rubbermaid.com, etc). __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

A project could be to proove or disproove all the wild theories about how canopies "want to turn downwind", or how canopies "dive quicker in no wind", or perhaps revisit Kallends exit separation work. I would think you would need to do at least a hundred jumps to (dis)proove any theory... A GPS device like the one Quade mentioned would help you with any of those problems. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I recently did this because I liked the look and the feel of the smaller container. I'm a pretty big guy, and now I jump a Stileto 150 and a PD143 reserve in an Javelin OJ container. The 143 is loaded at about 1.7. Now before anyone goes off on me and says "you better be prepared to land that downwind, in 20mph winds, when you're low, etc...." I'll answer with: "ok, I am". I've landed that reserve downwind in 25MPH winds after a low exit. I'm perfectly comfortable with my abilities to land it safely, I'd done it 5 time before I bought it. I do not think downsizing my reserve significantly infringed on my safety. That said, if anyone wants to downsize their reserve, they should be willing to do the same as I have. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

The gun control laws in the US are some of the weakest in the world. I'm not surprised at all that they've been proved innefective. Maybe if they actually had teeth they would work. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I haven't met you, so you're not real. Either is HH. He's avoiding me, so he doesn't count. I guess that means I'm not real either. Oh well.... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I normally stow my own brakes because thats a leading cause of malfunction, and I would rather a unstowed toggle be my fault rather then the packers. That said, the last time a packer complained that I hadn't cocked the pilot chute, I packed the rig myself. I haven't paid a packer since. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

A few monthes ago I coined the term "Dropzone effect", which can be defined as: "The Dropzone Effect is the sudden, relatively temporary surge in traffic to a Web site that occurs when dropzone.com user posts a story that refers visitors to another Web site. The effect gets its name from the Dropzone Web site, which provides content about skydiving and related activities, and sometimes features news about other related but less-traveled activities. However, the effect can be perceived when any large Web site posts a high-interest, widely-publicized story, about another site. The effect is obviously much more noticeable on smaller sites and the surge in traffic sometimes will slow a site down or make it impossible to reach." I prefer to think of it in terms of rending a perfectly good webserver into a molten mass of silicon goo. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Lost Prairie vs. Rantoul: Battle of the Summer Boogies

Yup, I was hoping the exact same thing. Good news indeed. I'll finally make it to SummerFest. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
SDC has the biggest landing area I've ever seen, anywhere. If you're concerned about the swoopers its more then easy to avoid them completely. Just stay away from the tetrahedron... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

It's up to you to decide weather it's fair to YOU. There was a guy at our DZ selling a sabre2 190 with 3 jumps on it, he wanted $1400. Me and craichead passed it up, even though that was the size and model she wanted. Somebody else did buy it, though. We later bought new from the DropShop. It seems to me it should lose about a hundred bucks that minute you "drive" it off the lot, regardless of if it has jumps on it or not. That seems inline with what you're asking. So.... yes, the guy is lowballing you. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

It's true. Flying video get me a wife... I would like everyone to know that I'll be adding digital stills to my setup once the new helmet comes in... It'll be easier for me and Criachead to come by this year now that she's got her 'a'. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

The two most exciting parts of skydiving right now are formation freeflay, and advancements in wingsuits. I have absolutely no doubt that in the next year we'll see freeflying-rw eclipse belly-rw. What do I mean by this? Well, in 10 years freeflying formations will be bigger then RW ones. Yes, I mean 300+ jumpers. Wingsuits now are cool, but its where its going that gets me really excited. Wingsuits will progress into the epitome of human flight. Continually bigger wings and more control. Humans will eventually be able to "flare" and land just like a bird does. None of this runway silliness. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

They put a penny in a windtunnel and showed the speed was a pretty definitive 64 MPH. The tunnel was a foot high, and the penny remained in the tunnel. During the tests to determine how much damage a 64 MPH penny would do, they cut two sides off the penny so that it would fit into a compressed air powered nail gun. My guess is the penny was 1/4 smaller because of the cutting. The penny did no damage whatsoever, except that when it impacted bone, the stinging feeling was quite pronounced. What was really fun was when they fitted a penny to the end of a rifle firing blanks, it was only when the penny was doing mach-3 did it do any actual damage. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

The footage of firing pennies at the guys ass at 64MPH was the best, IMHO... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Of course by the same definition, driving towards an intersection where the light is red is also attempting suicide. Only by applying the brake are you avoiding it. Jumping has nothing to do with suicide. That idea has far too many negative connotations to be applicable. That said, it is not a safe activity. If I wanted safety, I would ride a roller coaster or play golf. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

For years my Dad told me how much he hated the work Andy. My friends had started using it, and I never corrected them. It stuck. My Dad still called me Andrew. No, it's not a bad thing that you don't know this. However, it is a battle that you will lose. How old is your daughter? There is a point in life where its really up to the kids to pick their own identity, and parents get relegated to being advisors. This might be that time... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
