You guys completely missed the point of this article. He wasn't bashing extreme sports. He was bashing the corporate bastardization of our extreme sports in an effort to get us to buy more shit we can't afford. Did you even read the article or did you just skim it until you found a sentance you didn't like? Methane Freefly - got stink?

Richard, I should have phrased it better. My appologies. -If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you do not understand the gravity of the situation!

Aparently, I should have choosen my words with more care. I hate when I am being serious and people think I am trying to make a sick joke. First of all, at the time, trying to pack in an oncoming severe thunderstorm, it was a serious question. Second, the question was more along the lines of would or should something like this be included in the incident reports. I fell it should since, had someone been killed in the storm, it would have been as a direct result of our poor decision to jump when we knew a storm was coming. -If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you do not understand the gravity of the situation!

A few weeks ago we tried to get a load up before a storm came in. Due to the incoming front, the winds did a complete 180 as we got to jump run...the whole load landed out. This massive thunderstorm was building over our heads as we packed by the road and prayed for a ride. Suddenly, a question came to me: Is it a skydiving fatality if I die from getting hit by lightning because I was packing my rig in a thunderstorm due to a bad spot? Any opinions? -If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you do not understand the gravity of the situation!

Every relationship that I have had wit non skydivers since I started skydiving(5 years ago) has made my winters bearable....however, not a single one lasted through the summer. Chics can be a serious drain on good jump money. -If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you do not understand the gravity of the situation!

Pic #1 - "Dude, there go your jump tickets." Pic #2 - "Ok, don't freak out, but our reserve handles seem to be locked together." Pic #3 - One pig - $300.00 One Jump Ticket - $17.00 Prooving to your friend that even a pig could fly his canopy better than he does.......PRICELESS! -If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you do not understand the gravity of the situation!

"I just worry that up and coming jumpers will watch a swoop competition and think it is OK to hook it downwind and crash and burn." Uh...? It isn't?

That would be "jumpsuit blueballs". While closely related to "canopy blueballs", that is an entirely different condition, from a medical standpoint.

As they say in Thailand, "Don't jump the crane if you can't take the cane!"

I ordered a demo from Icarus and I am sitting here at the office waiting on it, they said it would get here today. So far, UPS and FEDEX have both pulled up and made deliveries to other offices in our complex. But alas, no delivery was made to me! I am quite sure that they are all conspiring together, icarus and all of the shipping companies, to give me a screaming case of "canopy blueballs".

You people need to chill out. Is it really that much of an inconvenience if you get one or two emails or a few extra pieces of mail? If the mail gets out of hand, it is time to start bitching. Until then, find something else to bitch about.
