Because I can't jump at night

Just to clarify the 'whuffos' to me are not just people that don't skydive, they sometimes mock it, or by their lack of experience, often ask really silly questions. Right after my first jump class I asked somebody what the symbol on their neck was. It was a closing pin necklace.

I saw the ad and I wasn't really clear what they were trying to get across. I don't fly commercially much, but interfering with a hijacker.... with an Air Marshal aboard? Do skydive jump planes get hijacked? I know some self defense but a majority of it is give them what they want if you can get them to leave. Nut cases... ok, just forehand to the nose or chop to the throat.

You can find a car in reasonable condition for a lot less than 1600. Whether or not to keep a car and pay the maintenance or get something else has a lot of (x) factors in it but here is a good guide. If you have had to walk away from it more than once because of a mechanical failure and the total cost of repairs exceeded its blue book value.. cut your losses, take the tag off and have it CRUSHED. Buying a used car is the challenge. Best deal is to buy from a private owner and ask to have a mechanic give it a check up before making the deal. Several websites have private owners selling their cars. If you can, take a long a friend that knows cars. I bought a 1991 Ford Taurus with a V6, AC, and power everything for $1000. There are great deals out there from private owners. AVOID 'buy here pay here' places. They will sell salvaged cars (which there are thousands of due to Hurricane Katrina) and they tend to want to over finance. Hope this helps. It's great that you weren't seriously hurt. I landed off on my 16th jump and ended up with a spiral fibula break. I'm curious, did you do a braked approach on final? I was reading the SIM and I didn't recall being taught that in AFF.

As far as endorphines and adrenaline go... skydiving is definately more fun and addictive. Great sex, well, doesn't come as often as skydiving... I have yet to encounter both at once.

If you have a hard landing its the second bounce where broken bones start damaging organs, so grab the grass and you have a better chance of surviving.

With a minor-medium injury and my leg in a boot cast someone knowing I skydive asked me if my parachute failed to open. I told them "Yes, I rolled out my momentum when I hit the ground at 120MPH" They believed me. Then to my shock, I've been asked this question 3 more times since. I am not an experienced jumper, but I am still shocked at some of the things I have heard.... 'How do you breathe in freefall' is my favorite.
