  1. Do you have an Apple store close by? Might be worth a visit, or at least a phone call. TPM Sister #102
  2. Even if it's on tape, I'm not sure what you'd have to go through to get it. At a minimum, keep track of dates when this happened so you know specifically what tape that behavior might be on. I would start by talking both to the offending child's parents and to the Vice Principal of the school, as you have already suggested, but if you put anything in writing, I would suggest that you word it carefully and that you send a copy to the school district as well. TPM Sister #102
  3. Take pictures of the bruising to share with the school. It's harder to ignore a photo of the problem than to ignore a description of kids "rough-housing" (and yes, I know it's a lot more than that!). TPM Sister #102
  4. Either way. . . . TPM Sister #102
  5. That's what I want people to think. I have him chained up in my basement feeding racoons SWEET! I like the raccoons, and I'll bet Walt likes being chained up! TPM Sister #102
  6. Pleased to meet you, too! You must be just counting numbers of posts and not paying attention to where they're made. My posts are largely reserved for Bonfire or the Women's Forum (where my skydiving expertise doesn't matter), or questions (in the subject-specific forums where it does). I try to keep my posts appropriate for the forum and appropriate to my level of experience. Those DZO/instructor/tandem masters that you're talking about are welcome to post as much as they like and to share as much of their wisdom as they want. I'm not threatened at all if they want to put up more posts than I do! I'm not going around giving anyone skydiving advice but the site is actually a resource for people who might want to learn as well, even if it comes with the often-repeated caveat about asking your instructors. And, in case you wondered, I may only have four jumps but I fly head-down in the tunnel so I think I've at least earned a place in the community--and from your other posts, it sounds like you don't care, anyway.
  7. There - you were quick to spot that one! *WHEW!* I thought we needed an intervention there. TPM Sister #102
  8. You have to be joking. A separate BONFIRE for people who used to jump??? What on EARTH is said in Bonfire that requires a separate forum depending upon your current jumping status? Even the kinder, gentler, cleaner Bonfire doesn't seem to require that kind of segregation. TPM Sister #102
  9. Ok - so you can post here. Yipppeeee! I hereby pledge to keep my USPA membership current and to read Parachutist promptly upon receipt. TPM Sister #102
  10. I know--it's a little offensive. Mine seems to come pretty quickly. It's not uncommon that I'll get it several days ahead of others. I don't know why. I WILL NOT QUESTION THAT WHICH WORKS!!!! TPM Sister #102
  11. D'oh! That's true. And while I'm joking about issues with the USPA, I've never had any problems with it as an organization. I even get my Parachutist on time! TPM Sister #102
  12. Wait a minute--what if you have issues with the USPA? NOT having a membership might be more valid proof of being a skydiver. TPM Sister #102
  13. Wow! That's more significant than I would've thought. TPM Sister #102
  14. And? What's the verdict? TPM Sister #102
  15. They're exchanging pleasantries. If *I* was about to do the launch, I wouldn't give a rip right at that moment--I'd be too excited, nervous, and busy! Good thing they're the professionals. TPM Sister #102
  16. I HOPE SO! I love to watch these.
  17. Just what they were saying! TPM Sister #102
  18. I'm watching NASA TV; they're talking about the weather and the clouds at the moment. TPM Sister #102
  19. So, where would you draw the line? How current do you think someone should be to be able to post? TPM Sister #102
  20. I have four jumps and a gazillion hours (more or less ) of tunnel time. I don't know how many jumps I will *ever* have. However, I've learned a lot more than I ever thought I would about skydiving. My friends are skydivers. I focus regularly on bodyflight and it's what I love to do, but even though there are some "independent" tunnel resources out here, this is where I've found people with whom I have the most in common. I'm not a "former" skydiver, but saying that they are not welcome would pretty well suggest to me that I'm not welcome, either, unless I start racking up some jump numbers pretty soon. I don't see any reason why there can't be room for everyone. There may be a lot of reasons why people aren't jumping and I don't see the benefit to excluding someone just because they're not current. Edited to add: I read the other skydiving-specific forums but rarely post anything there unless it's a question. I DO think it's appropriate to self-monitor the input you give in some of the discussions, depending upon your current jumping status and experience. TPM Sister #102
  21. Valentine's Day is about love. It doesn't have to be about romantic love--there are all kinds of love and they should be celebrated. I absolutely think the kids should be included. TPM Sister #102
  22. Oh, what a love! I STILL have days when I feel that way! TPM Sister #102
  23. Rarely is there a reaction without an action. The reason may not be apparent to everyone, but the attacking poster - in his or her mind - usually has a reason. Not necessarily a GOOD reason, but a reason. I actually almost asked someone once what their payoff was for that kind of thing. I was genuinely curious, because you don't go around attacking people online without some sort of payoff and figured it had to be something I wasn't picking up on. There's no way to ask that without it being an attack of its own, though, so I didn't go there. TPM Sister #102
  24. Happy Birthday, Mrs. S! I hope it's wonderful. TPM Sister #102
