  1. would he change his mind if "someone" showed him titties? you know... that always seems to work in skydiving.... :D
  2. oh, geez, that would suck. I really hope nobody bans you guys... you guys have built an AMAZING community of wingsuiters there, it would be such a shame to see it go to shit. how about instituting some incentive for people to not land off... like if you land off, you have to pay double the jump ticket... or 3 off landings get the jumper (not the group) banned for 3 months... or whatever stupid shit. I'm not the one to advocate for more rules, and Lodi has its great reputation for a no-stupid-rules kinda place, so ideally everything can get sorted out through a good conversation over a couple beers, but I'm just wondering if ultimately there's some compromise that makes everyone happy and doesn't get you guys kicked out... p.s. hope to see some of you guys at chicks rock this weekend

  4. Hey folks, I'm looking for a ride from LAX to the boogie on Sat (oct 2nd) morning... coming in on a redeye that night... any takers? Please please?? on an unrelated note... any ladies wishing to do girl on girl wingsuit rodeos, I'll be more than happy to take ya! (100 jumps min) can't wait!
  5. and titties. it's amazing how much the pilot will do for you when you show them a nice pair of titties. just sayin...
  6. do you think you would be so out of it that you wouldn't even hear the audibles then??
  7. If you are so worried about losing altitude awareness, how about getting an audible? If you already have one, how about getting a second one as a backup? If you're flying all maxed out on a big suit and find yourself at speeds outside of cypres firing range, as long as you're on your belly, you should see the ground becoming bigger way before needing to pull. If you're flying mostly on your back, it's still a good idea to flip over to your belly before 5500 ft, because you might want to look for those tandem canopies and make sure you haven't drifted off your flight path so badly to be anywhere close to them... What are you more likely to do? Be so unaware of where you are in the sky that you forget to pull? or potentially making a turn with your canopy sharp enough that a student cypres would fire? (this could be a sharp turn to avoid traffic... last thing you want then is an extra canopy to deal with. people have died that way!) If you think you are at risk of losing altitude awareness that badly, then maybe you're not truly ready for that wingsuit yet. Not implying this is the case with you, but just saying in general...
  8. Took him how? on a wingsuit rodeo. out of a plane. with clothes on. sheesh. you people.
  9. took a 200-something pound guy a little while ago and flew nice.. does that count?
  10. most events try to be something like that... and usually end up failing at a whole bunch of categories. I would argue for the exact opposite. Many events, each dedicated to different goals. The Vertical Challenge was a blast. It worked well because it was very focused! I can't wait to see more of that. I'd like to see events that push all flyers out of their comfort zone. Docked formations!! We really need to explore so much of this new territory! We started really well with a whole bunch of docked stuff in Puerto Rico and Flock n Dock... and then it died off a bit... with the occasional docked formations but no event specifically focused on docked flight. There are many aspects that need to be explored here: foot docks - can we complete that goddamn diamond?, biggest docked line - cmon we must be able to at least get the same number as the atmonauti guys, no? and anything else along those lines. Verticals - looking forward to the next Vertical Challenge, as well as potentially a couple training camps leading up to it. We got weathered out that sunday. We didn't get to see the full extent of what we could've done that weekend. We still got an amazing looking formation. Who knows how far we can take this... Aerobatics - I'd like to see events focused on lots of backflying, taking docks on the back, scary rolls, gravitrons, and generally teaching people how to master all kinds of aerobatic maneuvers. How about a "say goodbye to flatspins" event :). This would require a whole bunch of demo suits of the "smaller" kind, i.e. if someone just ordered an S-bird as their first suit because they didn't know any better and wanted to go big right after their first 30 or so wingsuit jumps, they should be able to demo something smaller (t-bird, Phantom2 etc) and learn how to backfly the crap out of it before trying to kill themselves in their big suit. Rodeo events! Now this is Purple Mike territory... and Mike has already started this with some awesome boogies I sadly didn't get a chance to attend, but the pictures in Parachutist are proof of great progress there. Docked rodeos, rodeo formations, and my very favorite - rodeos with really good freeflyers. Not just the small 90-pound 100-jump chick that Purple goes for, but reasonably light freeflyers with great skills, who know how to handle the airflow that is presented to them... then we'd see docked rodeos where the passengers stand up and do tricks! These are just a few ideas off the top of my head. Looking forward to seeing where this thread goes. Very good subject for discussion. I have a feeling 2011 is going to be a great year for Flock University...
  11. oh I totally have to try that now.
  12. Most of your life? I only skydive in mine. Haven't you learned from Zach yet? It's great attire for all your day to day activities. Especially useful on those long commercial airline trips... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAecgM-q8b8
  13. And a big thanks right back at ya! Huge props to J-Sho and Scott Callantine for organizing. This event was soooooooo awesome! I surely feel like I've learned a LOT from it, and can't wait to do it again. And to think that we even got weathered out for an entire day, and it was still a totally successful event! Great video, JD! Love it!! And Jumptown did an awesome job taking care of us and running everything smoothly.
  14. I've said it in the past and I'll say it again... if someone builds me a transparent wingsuit (for free), I'll test fly it naked.
  15. so far it's just the second attempt at the 16 way diamond, but check it out and from the ground and stay tuned for more updates, or check Flock U's website, twitter feeds, and facebook
  16. nah. no such thing. it's all just crazy rumors.
  17. last time I checked they haven't jumped since last August. otherwise, cool guys indeed. but busy guys. kinda hard to get em to the dropzone...
  18. Come to Cross Keys this weekend (Aug 7-8) We are bringing all of Flock University there. A bunch of people from the DC area are coming. If you want any more info, shoot me a PM.
  19. sweet. and kinky. let's see... we've got the S(e)X-bird... now the S&M bird... what's next? what's tony tryin to tell us here?? :D
  20. oh yea. you're right. it has to be with instruction. someone with more time on their hands feel free to dig up the actual wording from the SIM... either way, it's a BSR
  21. we talkin wingsuit requirements here? 200 jumps is a BSR, folks. ever since last winter's BOD meeting. not just a recommendation but a basic safety requirement. 200 in last 18 months or 500 total. of course, not expecting ESPN to be accurate on such details...
  22. Congrats on your first flight and welcome to the flock! I take it you just went by yourself and didn't do a first flight course with a coach/instructor? This is one of those things that gets thoroughly covered in an FFC, among many other important little details. It's also something that could have easily been shown to you on a video debrief. As others have already mentioned, your tailwing is probably the reason you got linetwists. Closing everything up in a symmetrical manner on deployment ensures a much cleaner opening. You may see experienced pilots pull in full flight... but that comes much much later, when you are very experienced and can actually continue to fly well through that deployment. Until then, at deployment time you should wave-off with your legwing, keeping tailwing closed at the end of your wave-off, arch (hard), reach back (both arms, symetrically) and pull (give it a nice, good, throw, again, symetrically - both arms go out). Then quickly bring everything back in and stay closed and arched THROUGHOUT the deployment. You might also want to do a few practice touches that way. Play with holding that all-wings-collapsed pull position stable for a few seconds, then back to full flight. And preferably have a chat and a jump with a competent wingsuit instructor in your area, rather than reading our advice here on the internets. It is important to have all the right information to build good habits early on, before you do anything sketchy on a bigger suit just because you got away with it on the smaller gti. Caw-caw! Hope to see you at a wingsuit boogie sometime!
  23. WAAAAAY COOOL!!! does the flyer get burbled when getting too close? above/behind another flyer? will it be possible to take a dock?
  24. ah, here it is! (photo stolen from DSE's facebook) go Bill!! cute exit :D (edited to attach)
  25. sweeeeet go scotty buns you said two pictures. where's the second one?
