With Lodi being perhaps one of the busiest wingsuit dz around, I have not seen even one malfuction of this sort. Perhaps the way the bridle is stowed while folding the is the issue? I've always wondered if it's really the weight of the hackey that's the biggest cause for this, or something else... like you say, maybe the bridle stowing technique used had something to do with it... or maybe the jumper was doing a really lazy throw - a couple seconds of pilot chute playing around in the burble could easily have that result. I still have a hackey and haven't had any issues (yet)... but that's only 500-some ws jumps, so rather inconclusive...

couldn't agree more. also... for all who like to whine that you don't have 1200 for an AAD... ya know, you don't need to always buy a new one. my cypres is expiring next month... no I don't have money for a brand new one at this moment, but I will not jump without one either. so I just got another used one, a few hundred bucks and it'll be good for another 4 years or so... then I can worry about either a new one or another used one, depending on how money goes... with the combat wingsuiting we do, I couldn't imagine jumping without one. seen too many close calls to want to take that risk.

you say that like he's some big expert now. just because he's got more posts doesn't mean he's got any more experience. yes, people are gonna diss someone who doesn't jump but acts like he knows it all. eli, how come you didn't get spanked with the same rude replies when you were new here and asking silly questions? why didn't I get the same treatment when I firs t got to this forum? a lot of people are greeted with respect and get nice comments, and so did sangi. like Matt, I too was intrigued by your post and did a search. plenty of people were super nice and spent so much time writing long informative replies to sangi's first posts here. go see for yourself. but when someone starts acting like a troll, he'll get the replies he's seeking... and let's face it, sangi trives on stirring shit and pissing people off. don't go ruin all that for him now :)

it's still premature for pushing a 4way event... yes we can turn points here and there. but we haven't even yet completed a 4way diamond (docked) we need baby steps... the Flock U docked challenge was exactly that kind of idea... a more informal competition to get people to practice, so we can see improvement. when we really see people turning points like you see the belly or freeflyers do, then we can talk about a competition format, though even that needs to first be tested at events and played with right now we're at the point where we feel the need to award extra points for foot docks instead of hand docks, just cause they're so much harder... we need to get to the point where we're turning those points like crazy, without worrying if it's a hand or a foot or whatever. the artistic competition in Terni seems to be going in the right direction with 2-way points in a similar style to the freeflying artistic events. maybe we see one of those on this side of the pond sometime, too. so, in conclusion, can this be done? yes. are we there yet? are we ready? hell NO.

I know... and my post wasn't so much directed at you... it was just a more general kinda response that we gotta be careful and realize that just because something comes in a majority doesn't necessarily make it the right thing... agreed. I look forward to seeing updated info on there as much as anyone else... it's just that I would've cut tony a lot more slack when he still had the old rusty website, but was hoping to see bigger numbers there when the new one was launched...
-
I wouldn't encourage the "the other guys are doing it too, therefore we're fine" excuse that pdf is old and desperately needs to be updated with new numbers... and the only reason it hasn't been updated yet is a new and improved website is coming up soon, which will contain all the correct information... but check on the page for the actual suit, it's clearly written 150 jumps minimum for the stealth2 http://www.phoenix-fly.com/products/wingsuit_stealth2.htm which IMHO is still a very bare minimum and just jump numbers are not the sole way of judging whether or not someone is ready to fly a particular wingsuit, pretty much the same way as 25 static line jumps don't make you an A-license skydiver... it's about what you do in those jumps that counts! I'm curious how much experience the jumper in the video has backflying other suits. how much backflying done on a smallish wing like a tbird or phantom2, then how much backflying in something medium-sized like maybe an m-bird or ghost, any then backfly jumps in an sbird and so on... it is a progression. or, rather, it should be. just like you don't downsize from a sabre 190 directly to a velo 96, you don't go from a tbird to an xbird.

there was a recent article on the history of wingsuits in Parachutist... I think that's the one being referred to here... i think it was by Taya though I should double check.
-
You know Tony's Brittish right? hahaha! if we go by those rules then I guess we are left with Lurch's HardCase and travisjones' PhatBird being 100% american :) did I miss anyone else?
-
not sure who you're referring to but Jarno from team flylikebrick (mccordia on here) comes to mind... check out his stuff at www.airrebels.com, demo reel and all...
-
are you able to go to Z-Hills? plenty of demos there...
-
The phantom2z would be awesome for your size. You're fairly light so you don't need the extra help from a whole bunch of fabric and hardcore can-barely-close-my-legwing style inflation... floaty suits could hinder your forward speed... so I definitely recommend checking out the Phantom2. You'll get great range out of it and have a lot of fun doing anything from flocking to aerobatics to whatever else you wish to explore Or if you want to go on the Tony side, probably a T-bird would be a better choice than the Intro. At 16 ws jumps, unless you're doing scary stuff and having wacky deployments, you're probably ready to step out of the Intro anyway... Any chance you can demo some suits before you make your decision? not quite sure which tailwing is larger in size, they're similar One thing I can say, though, is that the Phantom2 has lots and lots of range for its seemingly smaller size. It's been a while since I've played with an Intro, but I did fly a Raptor for a loong time, and my new Phantom2, while having a visibly smaller legwing than my Raptor, can still get me the same range I was used to... if you love aerobatics, then P2z will definitely make you very happy. it's a total aerobatic machine. It flies soo smooth through all the transitions... the ease and stability it has in all kinds of aerobatic maneuvers is one of the primary reasons why I love mine so much. It feels like it was made to backfly... it's amazingly stable on the back. Rolls? ohh yea... It performs smooth and fast and is very responsive to every subtle little input so you can have a lot of fun rolling it around the sky. Try one! You might just love it...
