that's a different one, but I believe you're referring to the one where a bunch of wuffos thought they were seeing ufo's http://www.wingsuitnews.com/2011/01/ufos-in-elsinore.html

horizontal ad banner containing vertical ads
SuperGirl replied to SuperGirl's topic in Error and Bug Reports
and here's a FF7 screenshot. broken in different ways.. http://screencast.com/t/G2mhvF4CNWcw fwiw, putting a height or a max-height css rule on the "#leaderboard iframe" element appears to keep it under control (or at least chrome seems to respond nicely when I add that on the fly in the page inspector). probably not the best fix, but a good quickie :) Edit: same in IE8/IE7 on XP... since I just 'happened' to have a vbox lying around ready for testing :) -
horizontal ad banner containing vertical ads
SuperGirl replied to SuperGirl's topic in Error and Bug Reports
so the banners at the top that should be containing horizontal ads only now also show vertical ads http://screencast.com/t/ENIMoeqn I'm using latest version of Chrome on Mac OS 10.7 btw. It's not just annoying, though... since the ads are flash-based, they grab focus on the entire element containing them, which also includes the space to the left, which often contains clickable links that are now unclickable (except for the main nave, that one seems to have a better z-index) here's a screenshot with the selected area when I click it: http://screencast.com/t/w4TtlcccJz2y even in order to write this post I had to inspect the page, kill the div containing the ad, and only then was I able to type in the textarea. (edited cause I forgot to clickify screenshots) -
I'm with Skwrl on this one. I might also take an extra minute to tell the dzo/s&ta/manifest to keep an eye on the dude and make sure my advice gets listened to.

Also, consider the case when something unexpected happens and the student needs to deploy early, without the coach necessarily knowing why. Maybe they hurt their foot/shoulder/whatever on exit and want to give themselves more time under canopy to deal with it (doesn't even have to be exit related, it could just be a pre-existing condition that they failed to think or tell the coach about) The wingsuit student should have some means of alerting their coach if for whatever reason they are choosing to deploy earlier than planned.

YES. Hell yes! First flights are a lot about building good reflexes through lots and lots of repetition (and, in this case, switching from something done one way for at least 200 jumps, to something done differently). As soon as the student gets cleared to go jump without a wingsuit instructor on their side (often right after that first flight), they will likely do the exact same thing they were taught on the FFC. They may or may not remember that you "told them afterwards" about what to do when flying with other wingsuiters, but if it's something they've practiced many many times during the ground training for that first flight, as well as in the air, they're a million times more likely to remember it and do it right on subsequent jumps. And it's a life saving skill - both the student's life, and that of anyone flying around them at break-off.

Yay for Chicks Rock!! It is almost time!!! So I'm getting in Wed night at 10:35 PM in LAX... sorry this is kinda short notice, but is there anyone else arriving around the same time that could give me a ride to the dropzone? Much appreciated, thanks!

very cool work, guys! love it! -
what suit were you wearing? the more tailwing you have, the more momentum you need to give to your aerobatic maneuvers, both forwards and backwards. which is super important to remember if you ever try to do a docked front (or back) flip with someone else... totally doable and fun to play with, but if one person has a more tail-draggy suit than the other, it can get super sketchy halfway through...

Brian, come fly, come fly!! We'll have some awesome wingsuit flights going on! There are always plenty of people driving to the dz each of those days, locals may correct me if I'm wrong but I believe ONT is the preferred/closer airport... just post here closer to the event date and I'm sure someone will help you out. SOOO excited for Chicks Rock and GLOW ("Gorgeous Ladies Of Wingsuiting") formations!

Justin, are you talking about the student you mentioned to me a couple weeks ago, the one whose order I immediately checked up on, and updated him on the status of his order? which btw hadn't been sent to the factory until late may, and was finished and scheduled to be shipped the week following our last conversation, as far as I remember...
