Just had the chance to demo a Storm this weekend, since the PD guys came to our dz. I gotta say I totally loved it. I normally jump a Spectre 150 which I'm only loading about 1.1, and I don't do any swooping so don't ask me about that kind of stuff, but otherwise here's what I thought: - awesome awesome openings. I don't remember my Spectre ever opening that nicely. On 2 jumps I even kinda trash-packed the Storm, hurrying to get on a load, and it still opened veeery very nicely, soft and exactly on-heading. - handling it felt pretty solid. I felt the front riser pressure was a bit higher than my spectre, but then again I'm a girl with really weak arms who doesn't use those fronts that much anyway, so this may be irrelevant. - excellent flare overall, all characteristics felt better than my spectre

lemme guess... you wanna see boobies...

Eclipse users, I'm having a little issue with my Eclipse. whenever I open another file in my project, instead of just adding the open tab in there, it also opens it with whatever Windows thinks is the default editor. Where can I turn this off, it's driving me nuts! fyi I'm running it inside VMWare, if that has anything to do with it

I am doing work. But I like to know what's going on. and I bet it's fun to look at logs like that.. I'd love to be one of those admins. Last year my work involved migrating employee's data onto new machines... lots of fun there, too :)

Say I work for company X, and they say hey people you should make sure you work and don't just dick around, by the way, we CAN see what you're doing. I'm curious about is how deep this goes... Is there a way to figure out what's being monitored on a work computer? Like figuring out what is being logged, if anything? all I can think of is looking at the processes in task manager and searching everything that looks like a candidate... what else can one do?

this is really last minute, but is anyone from the DC area going jumping tomorrow (sunday)? I'd love a ride... any nearby DZ you're jumping at, I don't care, I just really wanna jump and my plans fell through at the last minute

which days are you going exactly? I've got a weird work schedule to tackle right now, but who knows... maybe I can... -
just the certificate. so, to clarify... I'm doing this search for my bf who is computerless right now. he is a pilot, and is seriously thinking about getting an A&P certificate in the near future. preferably a program that takes 18 months or less (the fewer, the better), and also doesn't cost way too much (less than 20k would be nice)
-
thanks, but that one is also quite expensive the reason I'm looking for a comprehensive listing is to compare, among other things, prices, duration of the program, make sure it's accredited (for getting a proper study loan), location etc.
-
for you pilots and plane mechanics out there... any good tips on what websites to use to search for a comprehensive listing of accredited A&P schools? do they list their prices anywhere? google keeps giving me a bunch of links to places with too little info. so i'm wondering if there's some magic repository somewhere, with all the info I need, kinda like collegeboard and usnews are for rankings of regular colleges and universities...

Hell - I just guessed. I never thought I'd live past thirty...but fate had other ideas. I just figured 40 would be a nice round number. Actually, let's say February 29th. If 39 is good enough for Jack Benny, it can be for me as well... why guess when you have http://www.deathclock.com/

I need to compile a list of the most important news stories from Jan till now, pertaining to Tech stuff, especially stuff relevant to software engineers. Any good ideas on where to start? Something to save me time rather than going on big news websites and looking to find an archive and clicking my way through till I die? What's a good place to find a selected archive of most important news stories from the IT industry?

I do have a MacBook so firewire will work fine. thanks.

ok, I'm pretty dumb when it comes to video stuff. LANC - after googling I understand what it is. Should I care much? Is this the kind of thing you need for those helmets where you can put a little switch somewhere else? A/V and S-Video inputs - why do I want these on a skydiving camera? when would I need them?
-
what I meant by not caring is that if I have to cut it away I won't think after the jump that "geesh that was a lot of money I just cut away"... there's different levels of caring about it... you care a lot more about a $1000 camera
-
Before you all jump at me, yes I did a search but maybe I wasn't using the right search keys because I didn't find enough info, or the threads I found were too old and might not be that relevant anymore. If you point me to the right threads, I'll be very thankful... So. I'm thinking of starting to fly with a camera. Only to record the jump, not really planning on anything special for now... I love it when others have video of my jump, so I'd like to be able to return the favor. I'm looking for some advice on getting a cheap but decent first camera. I'm willing to spend $200ish on it, more than that would make me care about it too much, and that wouldn't be safe... I was just looking at the Sony DCR-HC28 http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DCR-HC28-Handycam-Camcorder-Optical/dp/B000M3IND6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=photo&qid=1211058232&sr=1-3 Any thoughts? Any better suggestions?

How would your life be different?
SuperGirl replied to airdvr's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
1) I'd be so deep in depression right now, I don't know what I'd consider doing.. man, jumping really gives your life a whole new meaning 2) I would still be with my ex (ew, scary thought), living a shitty life and not yet knowing what a dick he can be when it comes to me having a hobby he doesn't wanna have anything to do with 3) I wouldn't have the person I now consider to be the love of my life -
it gives BDSM a whole new flavor...

I'm not an instructor so check this with people who know better first... but... What if you learned how to fly in a tunnel first? Then you'll get used to flying in a stable position and won't have so much trouble in the air. Are there any wind tunnels close to you?

how long did it take you till you got citizenship?
-
don't you need to be a natural born citizen to run for president? I guess no presidency for you, Ian anyhow, congrats dude!
