I'm not the expert to ask here... I'm not involved in this stuff in any way... but I'd imagine you can scale the grid however you want, cause it depends on the distance the picture was taken from to begin with. the spacing that was used in the world record is more convenient for most flocks cause it allows for some breathing in the formation... though a 4way can be flown tight with whatever spacing

I'm not sure I completely see what you mean, and it would be cool if you could illustrate visually what formations you have in mind that will get screwed by the square/diamond. I'm thinking since we're flying wingsuits we are required to all fly in the same direction so all flyers are oriented the same way (otherwise we'll collide with each other. This requirement alone makes me think the grid should work onto most configurations. My assumption is that the formation shape doesn't have to completely fill a diamond (just like the shape of the 71-way wasn't an exact diamond). Whatever it is, a wedge, a zig-zag, a line... you can still put a grid on it, right? Or were you thinking about including verticals? I guess that would need a whole new set of judging criteria... like some semi-overlapping cuboid thingies :)

take 71, subtract 67... and get 4way diamond :) (sorry, couldn't resist)

SuperGirl replied to scottygofast's topic in Wing Suit Flying
niiiice well done Scotty. wonderful shots. looking forward to seeing all the videos... especially that B-roll stuff -
Trunk, you were the best of them all in that hot tub moment Good enough? you kidding me? one year is PLENTY of time. You'll be such a badass wingsuiter by next boogie. Just buy a wingsuit... NOW!! And fly the crap out of it! Your comment just made me look through my logbook and guess what... today is my wingsuit-birthday!!! wheee!!! last year on july 13th I was doing my FFC. The Utah event this past weekend was so awesome, I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate this!

That was a REALLY AWESOME boogie. Even with the various weather holds, we still got to do plenty of excellent jumps and had a truly GREAT time. Beautiful dropzone and beautiful flocks - thanks and a big hug to our awesome organizers. Can't wait to see all the footage again (thank you Scotty!) - as well as some seriously funny B-roll material... Right guys?? RRING RING?!!?! Spot - it was sooooo good to see you again. Thanks for everything!

fair enough... kinda reminds me of so many people who have posted in this thread without having read the new proposal documents and having no clue what they were talking about... It's just that knowing Skwrl and how thorough he is in his work, I seriously doubt that he overlooked anything... I guess we'll have to wait for his confirmation. always happy to entertain
-
seems to me (from skwrl's post) that he already checked his mail, looked at the documents and simply reached a conclusion different from yours. sounds like you're in utter denial and can't accept that

fixed it

is that JSho over Zhills in 2007? teeheee

You should try to get your facts straight... This is NOT supposed to be a Flock U rating. It just so happens that some of the people involved are Flock U instructors (it also happens they are really good instructors/wingsuit flyers with a ton of experience) But FlockU-wise that's just four of them: JSho, Spot, Callantine and Monkey. All other writers are NOT Flock University instructors. since when does a pretty damn limited sample of a few very vocal people represent everybody? okay, a bunch of people voiced their concerns, but please don't generalize so easily to "almost everybody" or we'll just have another silly discussion similar to that "you europeans" vs "you americans" thread from a few days ago
-
wow... just wow!!! magnificent flying, that's quite an inspiring video. needless to say... I wanna fly like that when I grow up!!
-
awesome job Matt
-
dude did you read the fuckin thing? go back this thread to the links to all the documents justin posted and READ... names and other answers to your questions are all in there. again, read through the thing and see that they actually ask uspa for a period of time in which the wingsuit community can digest this, comment on it, provide feedback/input...
-
sweeeeeeeeet video, Matt well done, I really enjoyed watching it. and then watching it again. and again...
-
and which picture would that be?? hmmm...
-
sorry, this side of the discussion kinda belongs more in the speaker's corner... but seriously, girl, your statement makes you just as big of an ignorant as those "clueless" americans you're criticizing. Try living in the states for a few years and you'll realize that it's a big mistake to make such generalizations about a country that is quite big and - most importantly - extremely diverse. Take this from someone who's just about as European as you are. And FedEx - I think you have a secret crush on Jarno and don't know how to come out of the closet. It's okay. You can admit it

sweet looking suit, enjoy flying it! is the campos thing only for when it's the first suit? ah, screw it, I couldn't resist :)
