  1. Thanks...I'm pretty pround of her. Here is one we had professionally done over Christmas. Miami
  2. Well, yea. I was aiming more at the non-fatal incidents that tend to occur on overloaded reserves, which is a not a huge number to begin with. Thanks for the clarification! Miami
  3. Bet there would be much fewer incidents if everyone thought this way, and stuck to it. One thing to keep in mind though...most reserves have very few, if any, jumps on them. An F-111 canopy like that will actually fly quite well, somewhat similar to a zp canopy of the same build. They don't front riser as well, but the lift isn't bad. On a side note, I upsize about 42 sq/ft when I chop, and my reserve is zp (topskin anyway). Miami

Thanks for all the great comments, here are a couple more recent pictures. Miami

Natalie Constance, born 9-9-03 (I'm a bit slow at this posting thing). Gives life a whole new meaning... Miami
  7. It's better to look at it as an opportunity to do the dive again. I did level 2 three times way back when I started. Don't sweat it, it will come. Miami
  8. Would I need to check the top 4? I've had two tandem cutaways, one that was packed for me and one that I packed. I have not had any sport cutaways (knock on wood) and have used a packer quite frequently and packed for myself. Miami
  9. That was probably one of the cadets from the Air Force Academy. Miami
  10. One of the first tandems I did in Colorado was with a fairly small female. After opening and stowing everything we did a couple practice landings, then did a spiral. As soon as we finished the spiral she screamed "Oh my god, I just creamed my panties!" (I remember those words very well ). We did a bunch of turns and she apparently had an orgasm on each one...once she was unhooked she immediately turned to me and said something to the likes of "I've never had someone make me cum eight times without touching me". She even called back to the dz after leaving to have them charge a nice tip for me to her credit card. Miami

Ah, I see...wasn't thinking along the lines that winning door was an option to be opened. Thanks for the explanation! Miami

    Weird Math Puzzle

Ok, now I'm beginning to feel like a real retard, cause I'm usually really good at math puzzles like this. How does it affect the odds of what you picked, when you are not going to swap, if the host knows which door is the winner or not. I mean you are picking 1 out of 3 and sticking with it. Regardless of what the host knows you should have a 33.33% chance of being right...right? Miami

    Weird Math Puzzle

Nope. With 3 doors you do double the odds. In your 4 door example you triple the odds, not double them. You started out with a 25% chance that the door you chose was correct, but by eliminating 2 remaining doors you increased the odds that the 1 remaining door was the "prize" door to 75% Ahh, I get it now... Staying with your choice when there were 3 doors makes your chances 33.33% of having the correct choice. Removing one of those doors does not increase the odds of the one you picked, so switching to the remaining door would increase your odds of winning to 66.66%. Is the simulator in the link quade posted correct then? When going with the not switching option it was still about 50-50. Miami

    Weird Math Puzzle

It's not nearly 'slightly', it's twice as good a chance by switching. 67% vs 33% (remember, your original pick was only a 1 in 3 chance of getting it right - and the door removed is 'always' one of the two losers (ie it's not removed randomly, but by using special knowledge). Since you were likely wrong in the original choice, it's better to switch once one of the 'wrong answers' is removed. There would have to be 4 doors and 2 of the wrong ones would have to be removed to make the odds twice as good to switch. With three doors the odds do become better once one wrong door is removed but only by 16.66%. The more doors there are the better the odds are once all but one of the wrong doors and the winning door are removed. Miami
  15. I'm at about 2.9 on mine. If I were at all interested in the distance I covered I would go to about a 2.2 on a 27, but I swoop for the speed. Miami
  16. I wouldn't say there is no bottom end, but it is reduced. I'm landing my canopies at a mile above sea level and really only need to run out landings on no wind or nearly no wind landings. Having a high wingloading will shorten your swoops quite a bit, but damn that speed is nice. Miami
  17. I'll try to post some later, when I get home....plus it'll take a while for me to figure out how to do that. Not so good with the computers here. Miami
  18. Had one...well not me but Mollie did. Back in Sept. Very interesting being a dad. It's a girl, so now I'm in the market for more guns. Miami
  19. New Orleans is usually the cheapest airport to fly into, but check the biloxi/gulfport regional airport, it is less than 30 minutes from the dz as opposed to the hour fifteen from NO. Another airport to check is Mobile, which is about a hour from the dz. Every once in a while it seems like they have a good deal going on and can be cheaper than NO. I am trying like hell to be able to get down there, I haven't missed one yet. Just having a baby makes things a bit tougher, though. Hope this helps, Miami

    newbie help

The best advice would come from your instructors. They will have the best idea of where your skill level is at and guide you through the process of deciding which gear is right for you. Hope this helps! Miami
  21. The oxygn A3's are good, as are the Z1's. We have both at work and they seem to fit a little differently. I kinda prefer the Z1, it fits me better than the Oxygn and I like the function of the flip up lens better on the Z1. Otherwise they are about the same, protection is about the same. Hope this helps! Racer

I currently jump 2 Racers and have owned 4 since I started jumping. These rigs are incredibly comfortable and light. Most of the negative comments about these rigs come from people who have never inspected or jumped one. Good customer service as well. Can't go wrong with a racer.

    Pro-Track

These guys are great. Their product performs perfectly and they have customer service that is unparalleled. Once you get a pro-track you will have your audible for the rest of your jumping career. I tend to be rough on my gear, and have broken two pro-tracks, but both times L&B sent me a new one with no questions asked.

These canopies open like a dream...great for those who fly with cameras. I am jumping a pair of 78's loaded at about 2.9 at a dz 5500ft above sea level and have had very little problem shutting them down on landing. For those who are ready to make the move to crossbraced but do not want the twitchy inconsistent openings of a 27 cell canopy I would highly recommend this canopy.
