  1. lol. There's a diner in Vandalia with a "Ho-made Pies" sign.
  2. According to Poynter's, the Tempest is a 270 sq. ft. 9 cell canopy with direct line attachment and two crossports in each rib made by GQ Security. No other details about the canopy are listed. If I'm reading this correctly, the canopy was introduced in 1984, and in October of that year GQ left the sport parachute business. Not long after that, GQ Security closed it doors permanently. It looks like GQ's parent company has merged with another company since then, forming Irvin-GQ. It seems that Irvin-GQ is not in the sport parachute business.
  3. In the Party Posse episode Bart, Nelson, Milhouse, and Ralph do a 4-way in the Yvan Eht Nioj music video. My favorite scene? I dunno, there are so many. When the Mafia gets together at The Legitimate Businessmen's Social Club. Homer becomes Mr. X and the whole Prisoner parody (ice cream cone full of syringes). The Mensa episode and Stephen Hawking's rocket powered, robotic boxing glove equiped wheelchair. Mark Hamil as Luke Skywalker in Guys and Dolls. When Stephen Jay Gould really just had to pee. Anything with Cleetus. When Bart gets Milhouse on America's Most Wanted, and the Fugitive inspired chase and dam scene ("My glasses!"). "I'll get you Beer Baron!" "No you won't!" The stills exploding in the basement. Homer flooding Springfield in the name of avante garde art. When Barts sells his soul and can't get through automatic door openers. The Radioactive Man movie: "The goggles, they do nothing!" Frank "Grimey" Grimes. Homer and Bart grifting, getting caught, and framing Willie.
  4. Yep. I think a relay or something in our TV is shot, because now I hear it all of the time unless I unplug the thing. I can also hear the ultrasonics in cheap security systems. I can't even go into a certain area of the Milwaukee Art Museum because it is so bad.
  5. Don't know where to rent it, but you can get the DVD for $20 or the VHS for $15 (US) from Amazon.com
  6. I can't find anything like that in my 2001-2002 catalog. Do you happen to know the year of the catalog and page number where she saw it?
  7. March 4-9, Gold Coast Skydivers. I may attend if I can find a ride. And if I can dodge my classes, but that shouldn't be a big deal.
  8. Tempting, oh so tempting. I could use the break. Edit to add: Now, if only there was somebody in the Chicagoland area that I could share a ride with...
  9. Personally, I would downgrade to Win2k Pro. It uses less memory and is generally faster than Windows XP. Plus I hate that ugly default theme. This will especially help if you have a slower processor. Adobe requires at least a P3 and recommends a P4. If you want to do real-time previewing, they recommend dual P4s. Ram is incredibly cheap these days. Install as much as your motherboard can handle. Check Crucial for prices. IDE hard drives are also very cheap. Get ATA100 or ATA133 7200 rpm drives and a dedicated IDE controller if possible. If not, install the drive on it's own channel if possible (i.e., main hard drive on primary master, cdrom on primary slave, video drive on secondary master). Newegg.com is selling 7200 rpm 80 gig ATA100 drives for $100 right now. P.S. If you have a whole lot of cash to blow (like ten grand), just scrap everything and build this monster.
  10. I'm quite literate, thank you. I just want you to understand that by posting a message on a public forum, you are inviting responses from everybody who views the post. If you only wanted Lew to respond, you should have only sent the message to Lew.
  11. If you didn't want me to comment on it, you should have sent a PM instead of posting in a public forum. I still fail to see the hypocrisy.
  12. Richard, I tried to figure out what you meant by your reply. I am only able to conclude that you don't know what hypocrite means. If you could explain your position instead of quoting scripture, that would be super.
  13. Either that or he's unconcious in a bath tub full of ice in a cheap hotel somewhere.

    ramdrive

Here for Win NT and 2k. Really though, RAM drives aren't especially fast. It is usually more efficient to allow your operating system to cache the data in memory by itself.
  15. Usually I'm thinking, "1 - look for other people - 2 - keep looking - 3 - still looking - 4 - still looking - 5 - look, wave, reach, throw" On my 40th jump it was so cool because I was totally in the moment, aware of every little thing, the wind on my face, everybody in freefall with me, the spot, the plane below me. I've only experienced that moment of absolute clarity once since then, but both times it was just unbelievable.
  16. Gawain is right. You just have to overpower the "good" signal with garbage.
  17. Agreed. My older Vector III came with one and it was a pain, especially when putting a large canopy in. I eventually just had my rigger sew it closed.
  18. I should have said that military receivers are at least as accurate as civilian receivers, and that civilian receivers are now receiving an unmodified signal, so they have the potential to be as accurate as military gear. I thought the extremely accurate stuff (less than one foot) required a fixed ground station.
  19. Military GPS is as accurate as civilian GPS in the US. Civilians used to get a worse signal (the time from the atomic clocks was shifted slightly, and only the military knew how to undo it). I get 32 feet with my $100 Garmin eTrex on a regular basis. That won't put bombs down ventilation shafts, but it's plenty accurate to take out a SAM site in the desert, or a large building.
  20. Lenny - Are they flying this weekend? I'm getting desperate, maybe even enough to jump when it's 20 on the ground.
  21. Sky Knights is in Wisconsin, just a little ways southwest of Milwaukee
  22. I believe in the math that holds the universe together. "In the beginning there was the ratio, and the ratio was with God, and the ratio was God." - John 1:1
  23. Within 2-3 hours of Chicago I'll be able to make it. I'm not sure what's going on with school right now though, I might be doing summer classes, which would put a damper on boogie plans.
