Minute-by-minute updates are available here.

It's in the atmosphere, decellerating as expected. Edit: Canopy is out, heatshield jettisoned.

I was going to get myself a nice portable MP3 player for Christmas, but there's a rumor that Apple is going to announce 2GB iPods for about $100. The announcement should come January 6th, so I'm going to hold off on a purchase until at least then.

I fire up TurboTax as soon as I have my W-2s in hand. I think I technically had 4 jobs this year so it'll take a while to get all of the forms, but then it's only about 30 minutes of typing and my taxes are done.

145-ish.

Headsup for half price Camcorders and lenses in UK
indyz replied to mr2mk1g's topic in Photography and Video
It looks like they don't ship to the US or Canada. Darn. -
I'd give myself a 90% chance of making it for at least another 5 days this year. I'm probably graduating from (junior) college about a week before convention, so the sudden onslaught of real life might get in the way.

I wasn't especially entertained. It goes back to the suspension of disbelief thing. If the story is good, I can conveniently forget that Superman looks just like Clark Kent but without glasses and Lois must be a moron to not see it. On the other hand, if the story is bad, I can't suspend my disbelief nearly as well and all of those little things just make the experience that much worse.

That, and I'm pretty sure that Venice was built on a swamp, not on top of stone columns in deep enough water to run a submarine in.
-
I'm only willing to suspend my disbelief so far. The Phantom can build all those machines? Fine. The Nazi costumes just really bugged me for some reason. And besides, I said I liked the comics. I really, really, love Alan Moore's work on Swamp Thing in the 80s. Talk about suspension of disbelief.

I can't stand historical inaccuracies. Stuff that should be easy to spot, like the fake German soldiers wearing World War II uniforms in 1899. Or the hanger full of Zeppelins, again in 1899. The story didn't do much for me either. The Alan Moore comic version was much better.

Within a day or two after New Years.

I'd like both but if I had to choose only one I'd pick MPH, because that is what most skydivers use when comparing their speed and is what most jumpers leave their Pro Tracks set to.

I wear a helmet to protect my head from hitting the door or tail on exit, from freefall collisions, and from botched landings. It is also a convenient place to hold an audible altimeter or mount a camera, and it does a good job of keeping me from losing my expensive prescription goggles.

I had "magnae clunes mihi placent, nec possum de hac re mentiri" as my sig line for a few weeks, but nobody noticed.

I got: Gift cards, cash, a new Radeon, shoes, nuts, and a really cool shirt that my sister made for me.

Nice shirt! My sister works in a t-shirt shop and for Christmas she made one for me to commemorate my 200th jump (attached).

Newbie question :Jumping in europe
indyz replied to liquidfire's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
All of the pricing I've seen seems to indicate that Scandinavia is competitive with US prices, eastern Europe (especially Russia) is cheaper, and everywhere else is more expensive. -
And I'm scheduled to work. Grrr. Lenny, I'll PM you my cell phone number. If it looks like a party is going to happen, gimme a call and I might come up when my shift is over.

There was a glitch when the forum software was last being updated that some people took advantage of to upload animated avatars. If somebody doesn't post a lot, or hasn't posted in a long time, it might not have been noticed by the people in charge.

That'd be me. I finished all of my projects last week, so I'm just manning the help desk in case one of the lawyers can't figure out how to maximize a window or something.

It's 9:24 AM. I've been here for a little over 20 minutes. My work for today is done, now I just have to sit around until noon and hope that no emergencies happen (*knock on wood*)

Also take a look at ibuydigital. It's the same company as dbuys but sometimes the prices are lower.
