I think I got all of them.

Best Buy has PCMCIA card readers for about $12. When I bought mine it was actually cheaper than any of the USB readers that they had, and just as fast.

I use a Npetune on 99% of my jumps and a chest mount Alti-2 Galaxy on the rest. I've got nothing against the Galaxy, I used it for a couple hundred jumps with no issues, I'm just a digital kind of guy.

Unfortunately AFHV seems to be the only show on cable that doesn't repeat 3 times a day. -

Are you the same Russ Webb who I just watched smack his head into a Cessna flap on an America's Funniest Home Videos repeat? -
So jury duty is your chance to personally convict one of those scumbags, or exonerate one of those innocents. Shame on you for skipping out on it.
-
No, it was interesting. Not something I'd do every day for fun, but I'm glad I did it. I have a feeling that people who can make broad statement like calling the the courts "a system which keeps lawyers rich, sets scumbags free, and prosecutes the innocent" with a straight face don't understand the legal system very well. Do some lawyers get rich? Sure. Most don't. As an entry-level IT guy at a law firm, working hourly, without a college degree, I was making more than some of the lawyers. Some scumbags are set free. It's an unfortunate side effect of juries and an overcrowded legal system. Innocent people do go to trial and some are even convicted, but thanks to juries, most go free.

I am a student. I am taking more than a full-time class load, maintaining an A- GPA, and working 30-35 hours a week. The demands on my time are high. When I got my last notice, I went, and I lost a job because of it. And even though my last two jobs were for insurance lawyers, I didn't manage to get out of being selected for a trial. Most people who think they know how fucked up the legal system is only base their knowledge on hearsay, urban legends, and Law & Order reruns.

How far in advance do you guys get notice? I've been called twice in the last 2 years and I've never had less than 2 months notice. Just my luck, I got jury duty the day that a client wanted me to start a short-term contract job. The contract was time-sensitive so I had to decline the offer. Lost a boatload of cash and possible future work on that one. But I did get selected for a trial, so that was cool.

Try spelling it "Jonathan"

I am on myspace almost soley to keep in touch with friends from high school / college. About once a week I hear from somebody I haven't talked to in years. Since I'm a guy I don't get too many random people adding me to their friends lists, and when I do, I have no problem hitting deny. -
The office opens at 11:00 am tommorrow. Be sure to call early and let them know that you are coming.

Yea. I mean, Sony only released 4 new consumer-level MiniDV cameras this year. It's clearly the Campocalypse. The end of freefall video is near.

Most bathroom scales aren't very accurate at such a low weight. You will get a better measurement by putting your rig over your shoulders, getting on the scale, then putting the rig down and measuring just yourself and taking the difference. My rig (Vector 3, Vengeance 135, Tempo 170, no AAD) weighs about 19 lbs.

When did you email them? It's a holiday weekend and they are professional skydivers, so it might take them a bit to get back to you. I have an 8MB card (less than 1% the size of a 1GB card) and I never fill it. Ever. In fact, I almost never use it at all. The still quality is shit. You would be better off spending the $89 on a cut-rate digital camera like this. -
Hold down Control and spin your mouse wheel.

I noticed the same thing. At about one data point per second in freefall, a simple average doesn't work. I haven't looked too hard for a better algorithm because I am mostly interested in the simpler data (exit and opening altitude, freefall time, etc.).

Worth rehashing because now you can ger the t-shirt: Mr. Pibb + Red Vines = Crazy Delicious.

The ones I linked to are a half-round style, the same as my PC105 uses. Not sure if it's the same half-round, though.

You probably want either the VM-15FS or the VM-30FS. I think the only difference is the length, and the 30FS has gold-plated connectors. You can get both from Amazon: 15FS.

From O'Hare airport (the north side of the city), about 60-75 minutes to Wilmost. Wisconsin itself is about 45 minutes.
-
In southern Wisconsin there's Wilmot Mountain, Alpine Valley (conveniently located 5 minutes from Sky Knights Sport Parachute Club, we jump all winter)., Grand Geneva (private resort, $$$), and a couple of others that I can't recall off the top of my head. Wilmot is closest and pretty decent, Alpine is better but a little further, and I've never been to Grand Geneva.

It finally hit the north suburbs. I'm skipping school tonight. Gurnee to Schaumburg usually takes me 50-60 minutes, it'll probably be 2 hours each way tonight. Fuck it.

It ran on American MTV as "Team Sanchez" (can't make scat jokes on American TV, I guess) for a while, but I haven't seen it in a few months. It was definitely more extreme than Jackass, in a "that must have hurt" sense, not in a "that was funny" sense.
