I put my picture of the pyramid up in the galleries, under "Photo Submissions, Boogies and Parties." I got a half dozen pictures with my digital camera, but most of them came out like crap because I had accidentally left close-up mode on. I tried to get a picture of the completed pyramid, but it collapsed while the flash was charging. D'oh. -- Brian "The sky is lovely, dark and deep. Hey! That site has a naked skydiving FAQ written by none other than Bill Von: http://www.funinbc.com/skydive/faq.htm -- Brian "The sky is lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I pull"

Nifty link. This one bothers me, though: http://www.funinbc.com/skydive/whobutt_L.htm -- Brian "The sky is lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I pull"

I see what might be a hatch over the cockpit. Of course, that would put them in front of the props... -- Brian "The sky is lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I pull" -
Didn't 3flier say that this exact thing happened to him? He posted a pretty long message about it, then went back and deleted it not much later, so it isn't in the archive, but if I recall the story correctly: He was at 4500, then the next thing he knew, he was way low and feeling the ground rush. He thought "go reserve," but at the same time, threw out his main without thinking about it. The cypres fired, and he had two out. -- Brian "The sky is lovely, dark and deep. Grasping at straws: Trying installing it in another computer, and see if it works their. You might also want to check the IDE cable. -- Brian "The sky is lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I pull"

That ain't right. 850Mhz should be plenty to convert from MP3 to CDDA on the fly. Have you tried forcing it to do the burn at a lower speed? -- Brian "The sky is lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I pull"

That computer shouldn't be underrunning if all of the hardware is functioning correctly. Could you tell us what you are trying to burn? -- Brian "The sky is lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I pull"

Ahh! Justin is one of those bastards who has an Internet Explorer only homepage. Us *nix users really don't like that (and we're gonna rule the world some day

Edit: I removed my analysis of the problem becuase I've decided that I don't have enough info to be accurate and cover all of the possibilities. All I can say with confidence: Even RAID 5 can fail, and software guys screw the pooch sometimes, too. -- Brian "The sky is lovely, dark and deep. Because you're gonna pay his way through student status, right?

Number of Jumps: 15 Highest: 6500 Lowest: 3500 Most memorable: #14, 20 second freefall. The first time I had been in the air with somebody else. It was just so cool to look out and see Apple 50 feet away, keeping pace. Scariest: #5, looking past my feet at the clear blue sky, seeing the pilot chute go past them, with the bag following a split second later. Next year: A license in the spring, my own rig by the time fall semester starts, maybe some freeflying. -- Brian

Every pair of cycling gloves that I've worn has been made out of stretchy stuff (lycra?), and was really porous. I doubt it would do much to keep cold air out. -- Brian

For the technical definitions of the different malfunction types, I would take a look at the SIM, starting on page 101. The current SIM is downloadable from the USPA website if you don't have a hard copy version. -- Brian

I second Richard's recommendation. I put my first jump on a pair of prescription G-107s today and they worked just dandy. -- Brian

Zennie, right on with the Blues Brothers. Best bad movie ever: Plan Nine From Outer Space. And because I don't like the Matrix, an old joke: The best special effect in the Matrix was the one where they made it look like Keanu Reeves could read. -- Brian
