  1. Thank you, my flying brother from another mother

  3. 7 Cell love !!!! .... wait ... is this the "Post your Spectre" thread? Happy Landings, Jean-Arthur Deda. Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  4. Ed, you're a cyberpunk! Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  5. Let's not jump to conclusions there But if it's all the same to you I'll take some good landings over the golden star. Never fully understood why the gold is so damn precious anyway. If anything because of this tread I'll pay more attention on how I stow and unstow my toggles. Happy Landings, Jean-Arthur Deda. Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  6. The same problem is tackled in one of PD documents http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/ControlSysMalf.PDF Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  7. I see what you mean. I'm going to try it in flare tests where the airspeed is lower. Thanks for the heads up. Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  8. Wow .. that's scary & lucky. Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  9. Does it work with ram air parachutes? Even if you manage to spit without spiting yourself at 30 mph air speed the spit goes outside visual range pretty fast. Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  10. Good point. Never thought about that. Thanks. Is that what happen to the Australian guy that crash in the blueberry under a spinning main (after he cutaway) and amazingly survived? Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  11. The word "responsibility" doesn't reflect that well my question. I will rephrase. Some parts of the gear maintenance can be done *only* by a rigger and some other parts can be done by a regular skydiver. I'm looking to find out which are the last ones. Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  12. Helli looks like this http://www.justacro.com/video/justACRO_Tricks_videos/justacro-helicopter.mpg but these are high aspect ratio acro wings. Dunno if and how these acro and siv manoeuvres scale to our low aspect ratio. Besides just by looking at them my blood boils. After I've seen a SIV for the 1st time, the following night I had a dream that my wing was out of control and no mater what I did I couldn't fix it. Another nice movie http://www.justacro.com/index.php?m=21&dl=112 Happy landings, Jean-Arthur Deda. Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  13. I understand your point. I've been advice to look for a 190. I ended up with a 230 but I was looking for a 260. My wind limit is 16mph (forced by self experience) while some friends go up to 22mph with a 190 with same jump numbers and almost same weight. I've went against my instructors recommendations and I have no regrets. But that's only me. I'm the only guy from my DZ that got his 1st wing with that smaller WL. Natural skills and confidence levels are different from person to person. Generalization and black & white rules are not helping. For instance if the DZ is small and it's located right in the wind corridor (stable high winds) I can understand flying a higher WL and it might be safer than a 0.6 WL. Anyway, I do understand your point. Happy Landings, Jean-Arthur Deda. Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!

    Photoshoped?

How about those ones? http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles/a84_a1.jpg http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles/a84_a2.jpg http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles/a84_a3.jpg http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles/a84_a5.jpg http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles/a84_a6.jpg - Ad on the bus reads: "If you don't gave GIO Third Party Property Insurance, we suggest you don't hit this bus" http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles/a84_a8.jpg http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles/a84_a15.jpg Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  15. Thanks for the help guys. Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  16. In your opinion what would be the safety time frame for which you can jump a ZP main without repacking it? I'm guessing a lot less than the reserve cycle! Happy landings, Jean-Arthur Deda. Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  17. I don't know how DSE feels about this but for me is like "Crap!! There goes my retirement plans! Wait ... maybe I can get my job back."
  18. That could work too but if you have to do a delivery outside the "known" area it might be trickier. And for "feeling the flare" I suggest we use a Super Netto Variometer with readings in both modes to exclude the air rising/sinking effect. This way our system can detect where the flare sweet spot is and we don't have to care about the WL.
  19. It has to be with a radar altimeter. Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  20. I know that some parts of gear maintenance follows under "riggers only" status and some other parts are my responsibility to check and maintain. I'm looking to find out which are the parts that follows under my responsibility. So far I've put together this list: - Main fabric check (for cuts/wear/tear/lose sewing threads). - Main lines check (for sings of fatigue not trimming). - Main soft links check (for signs of fatigue). - Main risers check (wear/lose sewing threads). - PC bridle check(for wear/tear). - PC fabric check(for cuts/wear/tear/lose sewing threads). - Main closing loop check(for wear/tear). - Main pin check (for metal fatigue/deformations/lose). - BOC check(for wear/tear/lose sewing threads). - Reserve pin check(location of the closing loop on the reserve pin). - 3-ring system check(freedom of movement/metal fatigue/deformations). - RSL routing check (on the 3-ring system/on the reserve pin). - Cutaway handle and cables check(freedom of movement in the hosing/Velcro resistance/reserve cable sphere). - Lubricate the cutaway cable every month with Silicone? - Reserve packing cycle. - AAD check & battery cycle . - Connecting the risers to the harness. Please let me know if I'm missing something! And some other gear question: Do you keep the main packed or unpacked during the winter? UPT mention that there should be no gap between the outside edge of the harness ring and the small ring attachment tape. On my mini rings I have a half cm gap. Should I be worried? How do you check the Velcro pull force? Do you have a rigger inspection cycle when you ask your rigger to do a total inspection? Happy landings, Jean-Arthur Deda. You guys are a bunch of geeks and this is a typical C question not C++ ... wait or is it --(C++) ? Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  22. Hi Hackish, Cypres might not fire in a wing suit jump. http://www.cypres2.com/userguide/CYPRES_2_users_guide_english.pdf Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  23. Hi NickDG, Quick question for you
  24. Surprisingly, those speed-flying wings like the O-Zone Bullet have no minimal requirements. Take it and good luck. All the PG pilots I know wanna try the Bullet and they all are "experienced instructors". They all fly 26+ sq meter wings (280 + sq feet). Different sports, different people, different mentality. I guess is only normal esspecially since one sports main attractions are the other malfunctions. This goes both ways. I agree that minimal requirements are not for everybody. They are guide lines. I overdo the minimal requirements (exagerate safety zone) but that's only me. Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
