Hey - I didn't make it.....I just thought it was funny as hell when somebody sent it to me.. So sue me for having a sick sense of humor! Mike
-
I'll tell ya what.. If you want to follow me down under canopy, feel free....but ya gotta catch me first! Mike
-
And if you're not out within mere seconds from the time he calls jumprun, he turns around in his seat and....."GET THE FUCK OUT!!!!!! NOW!!!!!!" Mike

Zennie's on top of Skreamer? Damn.. Does your wife know, Zen? Mike
-
Is that really a color scheme? I didn't see any color in it.. Just gray and black.. BTW, I like the size you picked......but it may be a bit big, dont'cha think?
-
Check this out guys! http://www.flyguycrew.com/wldo.swf It may take a while to load if you don't have a high speed modem....but it's pretty damn funny....or sick.. I'm not sure which.. In any case, I know Clay will love it.. Mike
-
They were designed for terminal openings.. I know of a few people that are jumping FX/VX canopies while doing AFF instruction and/or coaching.. Mike
-
Not me! I'll call ya next time I'm in Houston, though.. Mike
-
Again, not something I consider feasible.. There are a couple reasons.. First, I don't know about you - but I sure as hell don't want to be flying in close proximity to a novice under canopy - they can be pretty unpredictable.. Second, following somebody would likely be more of a distraction than a help for the student.. Instead of paying attention to what is happening around them, the student would likely fixate on the person they are following.. Mike
-
That's cool.. It definitely helps when you can see what specific controls do side by side with another canopy.. I never fully understood EXACTLY what each input did until I got to experience it side by side with another canopy.. I don't know whether or not they do this at Deland - I have not taken the course there.. Mike
-
Ok.....what the hell did you fall off of this time? I'm seeing a trend here.......every time people get together at Deland, Marc can't jump for one reason or another.. I think he's afraid of being seen with us.. Mike
-
I don't think you can go wrong with AF.. The weather in AZ that time of year almost guarantees non-stop jumping, the dz has great facilities and awesome people, plus there's a lot more to do than just skydiving if you stay in AZ a few days after you finish.. If you plan to go to any of the well known schools in Florida, Arizona, or California - you should have great jumping weather and great training.. Now I'd suggest finding people that have been to the schools your considering, and get their opinions.. Mike

Rob - the original poster is in the UK, do you know the requirements for instructors over there? Are they the same as in the US? I know the license requirements are much higher, but what about the instructor requirements? I've always been curious about that.. Mike

Well, it appears that the cutaway and pull the reserve choice is far ahead right now(12 to 2).. That's the way I was taught, and that's the way it seems safest to me.. This is one of those controversial subjects - such as the RSL and Cypres debates.. Each side has their valid points, and, in the end, it is up to the individual to determine which they feel is the safest course of action.. Maybe this will open some eyes, and people will evaluate what they were taught(whichever way that may be), and decide whether or not it is the best choice for them.. I've seen too many people that just go with what they were taught, and don't really consider the ramifications.. Mike

Check out this website.. They host a contest for amateur photographers, with several prizes, including a $10k grand prize.. I know we have some pretty good photographers here, so check it out! Maybe we can get a skydiving related picture to win.. http://www.picture.com Mike

Well, if you want to see a proper pattern for a student.....don't follow me! Mike
-
For some reason, my passengers don't really like it when they ask me what the crash position is.....and I tell 'em it's the position they want to be found in.. Mike
-
I'm not sure if I'm reading this correctly or not....but are you saying that the JM should track one way, and the student another - as you would in a 2 way, non student jump? The JM cannot leave the student UNTIL the student pulls.. Then give 'em at least 1,000ft to clear the area and pull.. The instructor is going to be way below, and I don't think floating in brakes will help much in this case.. It's just not feasible.. This is why students have radios.. Mike
-
From what I've heard, that's SOP.. Mike
-
That's not really feasible.. After an AFF student pulls, the instructors have to track clear(in case the student has a streamer, cuts away, etc) so the area below is clear.. Especially if there is a video guy on the jump.. Plus - DZ's would have to supply instructors with rigs then, because I sure wouldn't buy a big 'ole main(and container for it to fit in).. Mike
-
Actually, I don't think they'll want you to go to full altitude on any of the canopy control jumps.. They want you to get out around 5k so that the area is clear, and you have it all to yourself.. The only people that normally get out at 5k(other than the canopy control people) are the PD test pilots doing test jumps.. Cool.. What airline, and where's it coming from? Never know - I may end up on that same flight.. If so, you'll recognize me by either the uniform(guys in pilot uniforms sitting in the back stand out), or(if I have time to change) the guy in shorts, a skydiving related t-shirt, and drinking heavily.. It will take about an hour from OIA to Deland that time of night.. Mike
-
Yea, I saw that one the wall, but it also looks like you're trying to discreetly point at the chick sitting there.. I figured you were trying to tell us something..
-
I'm sure the wings would like flying upside down just fine.....it's the engines and fuel system that may disagree.. Mike
-
That may be your training(if you're remembering it correctly) - but it's a very controversial subject.. I, personally, am on the other side of the fence.. I believe that during a PC in tow, it should be cutaway then reserve.. This is so that if the main ends up coming out of the container when the reserve deploys(relieving tension on the main container), it will likely just fall off the back still in the D-bag rather than deploy and have 2 out.. But, that's just my opinion.. Mike

Bonus points to any swooper that can snatch a fish out of the water with his feet mid swoop.. Mike
