If a bullet happens to find its way to the cockpit windows, explosive decompression is a very real possibility. I guess it wouldn't be much of a concern if all those rounds found their way to the cockpit anyways, since there would be nobody alive to fly the airplane.. As much of an advocate as I am regarding concealed carry for citizens...I am adamantly against anything like THIS. Too many people in confined quarters...and too many people that can't shoot for shit. Mike

If every citizen with a concealed weapon permit were allowed to carry on board aircraft, we would have way to many incidents/accidents related to firearms on board....plus, if there was a hijack attempt, and 20 armed people on board....there would likely be 200 rounds expended and 50 innocent people killed.. Leave it to the professionals. Mike

Do pawn shops really buy skydiving gear? I would think that it's too specialized of an item, plus the people at the pawn shops wouldn't have a clue what they were looking at or how much it is worth.. Mike

Maybe the thief will try and jump it and...well...maybe not such a good thing to hope for.. Shouldn't be too hard to spot that if somebody tries to sell it...not too many rig/canopy combos like that around(well, compared to rigs total).. I'll be over at Lake Wales this afternoon...I'll let 'em know in the gear shop there.. Mike

Armed is the ONLY way to go into DMV....buncha freaks work there! Mike

Damn...it always amazes me that people that stupid exist....although, it would be funnier if the cashier tried to give her change for it.. Mike

No, it wasn't Quiessence...been out with them once a long time ago...but they just run six-packs.. This one had a boat they normally ran up to 18-20 divers on...so we were quite suprised they took just 4 of us out.. I don't remember the name of the shop - it was about a year ago, and I haven't been back since.. What kind of diving do you do for a living? Hardhat? I do primarily cave diving, but I do go down to do some wrecks now and then. Most of the time I take a trip down there it's to do the deeper wrecks like the Wilkes and the U2513.. Mike

Not suprising....give it 15-20 years, and those systems will probably be law for all new cars.. A lot of people don't realize it, but many of the new cell phones these days have GPS locators in 'em. My company issued new cell phones to all of us(well over 1000 people) and they have GPS locator systems in 'em. First thing I did was go in and find the menu to turn it off... Mike

Really? Damn....I saw the guy with the camera behind her and the "DIV" on the right side.. I guess my mind wasn't in the gutter the first time I looked at the pic...well, the first time, anyways.. Mike

Yea, they do...but the price difference on the 3000 and 3200 is very small($15-20 I think) between the 32bit and 64bit....but it's a significant difference on the 3400. Supposedly, based on what I've heard and read on some of the computer review websites, there are a lot of companies just waiting for a true 64bit OS and then they will launch their new programs to take advantage of it. It's on the web, so it must be true.. Mike

That really concerns me. If they install those in the cockpit, and have them transmitting real time video...it can be hacked. That could potentially allow people to find the weaknesses that might allow them to enter the cockpit. Bad shit, man...bad shit.. Mike

I'm buying a new desktop, and trying to decide which processor to go with. I'm looking at the AMD64(3000, 3200, 3400) and the P4(3.0 and 3.2). I've been told by one of the guys at a local computer store that the AMD runs 9 calculations per clock cycle, and the P4 runs 6....so the AMD seems to run faster, even though the clock speed is slower(he was comparing an AMD64 3200+ to a P4 3.2Ghz). Another reason he recommended the AMD64 is because when Microsoft updates WinXP to 64bit, the processor will be able to fully utilize its design, and will have a significant jump in power(as compared to the 32 bit OS). Jeanne - any timeframe on the 64bit OS? Another thing he had to say was that many programs state to turn the Hyperthreading feature off on the P4 because the programs don't run well with it. I'll be using this system mostly for video editing, CD/DVD burning, and the occasional high end game. Any recommendations from the much more computer savvy? Any truth to the salesman's claims? Mike

Naw....I'd just cover the camera when I do that.. Or pull the circuit breaker....we have CB's in the cockpit for EVERYTHING! Mike
-
Well...that and for a month long 100 degree plus heatwave in Cleveland in January.. Both things will occur at the same time.. Mike

So is this just a thing for your company....or something you guys are designing for airline use? I am adamantly against cameras in the cockpit unless they record to a unit(like a CVR does) that will be used in accident investigation. Having cameras that transmit is dangerous, IMO. Even if everything is encrypted, it can be broken. That would just allow criminals to SEE what goes on, study it, and find weaknesses. Mike

DAMMIT! Why do all the women see through that line?! Mike

Geez....when I saw this title, I was afraid it was gonna be a rig run over by a car or something.. I love my truck...and it's paid for....and I just can't even think about selling it and going with a cheap little car, even though it would mean a bunch of excess cash from selling the truck. Actually, I'm thinking about getting a new truck.. Mike

Better be one hell of a lotto jackpot....considering the Global sells for about $45mil new.. That's with a modest interior....it can go as high as you can imagine based on what is put inside.. Mike

Don't fight it....and don't act like you don't enjoy it...you know you love it! Mike

Well....I've been on several loads that did an impromptu swoop meet at a local golf course.. Mike
